Feb 8, 2008I have domain, let say it is www.mydom.com which is hosted at one IP. I would like to create subdomain www1.mydom.com and host it on another server with different IP address.
Is it possible?

on server b I created a new account with dedicated IP .

Jul 5, 2008After changing options in "tweak settings", domains section, I found my site IP Address is missing, subdomain configuration also disappear.

- Add proxy VirtualHost to httpd.conf to automatically redirect unconfigured cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm subdomains to the correct port (requires mod_rewrite and mod_proxy)
- Automatically create cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm proxy subdomain DNS entries for new accounts. When this is initially enabled it will add appropriate proxy subdomain DNS entries to all existing accounts. (Use /scripts/proxydomains to reconfigure the DNS entries manually)
- Allow users to create cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm subdomains that override automatically generated proxy subdomains
Those following configuration is ** set by default.
I have never changing option in "tweak settings" after 1-20 automatic update to STABLE version since I tweaked the WHM from first time installed.
Domain cannot be accessed from http port, subdomain disappear.

May 11, 2015Wordpress installation (WPML with 3rd level domain es. site. com, fr. site. com).
I need to redirect page from subdomain to a new subdomain
Example:
esp.site.com/oldpage -> es.site.com/newpage (different subdomain)
esp.site.com/oldpage1 -> es.site.com/newpage
esp.site.com/oldpage2 -> es.site.com/newpage
Source site is very chaotic and there are no clear rule for redirection (no regex )
So I need to redirect every page but syntax:
Redirect 301 esp.site.com/oldpage http:// es.site.com/newpage
doesn't work!
which is the correct syntax ?
Can I manage all from one .htaccess file in main root (www) or should I create "esp" directory (and point old subdomain to it - one for every language) and put .htaccess in every directory with redirection ?

Feb 6, 2015My customer has an external facing Apache server that is acting as a reverse proxy to two internal applications. They have:
- external addresses for each app which resolve to different ip addresses, so app1.their_domain.com and app2.their_domain.com resolve to 77.3.170.10 and 77.3.170.11 respectively.
- the Apache server has two network interfaces with ip addresses 192.168.10.10 and 192.168.10.11
- the external ip addresses resolve to the above internal addresses
- the firewall between the Apache server and the internal app servers is configured to allow traffic from 192.168.10.10 to reach app_server1, and traffic from 192.168.10.11 to reach app_server2, both using port 7777.
I have configured a virtual host in httpd.conf for each ip, i.e.

This works fine in that the external address are being routed to the correct application, however the firewall is blocking requests to the second app as it appears the requests are coming from the Apache servers 'primary' ip address 192.168.10.10 instead of 192.168.10.11.
Is it possible to send requests using the ip address from the relevant VirtualHost?

I enter 58.27.175.211/255.255.255.0 for Source Address and Netmask for port 22.
But still I can connect using 58.181.103.217 or 58.27.151.120.

Jul 26, 2007I just bought a new ip address and want to setup this new ip as my server's main ip, making the 'existing main ip' as the secondary ip.
Which means, this new ip will be the server's default ip address for all services, including when connecting to other server.
I'm using CentOs 4.5 and swsoft's panels: HSPcomplete & Virtuozzo Power Panel, and Webmin.

I know it is possible via URL masking, however, I want it in such a way that whenever somebody clicks on any link in the website, the address bar should still show the original URL. To put it in simple words, Suppose I want to redirect [url] to [url]. Now if there is a link named contact/index.htm and somebody clicks on it the address bar should display [url]and not redirect to [url]

- I can't access the webserver
- I'll try to restart httpd, and I'll get
Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443
To fix this, I run
[root@www1 ~]# lsof -i tcp:443

There is always leftover process that is causing the restart to fail. Once i force kill the process, I am able to restart httpd properly.
Now it is ok if this just occurs once in a while, but this problem keeps repeating itself almost everyday at 4am server time (cron time?). What can I do to permanently fix this?

Using A Subdomain For SSL
Oct 17, 2009When I was with another host, they set it up so one of my subdomains had a static IP address, and I was able to use this for my SSL certificate. My new host (sharkspace) uses CPanel (other host used HELM) but it seems to me like CPanel could do this as well.
Does HELM have some feature that CPanel does not? How do I set this up? They are telling me that they cannot do this for a subdomain, and I cant afford to go buy a wildcard ssl certificate.
They also told me in the past that the only way to redirect a subdomain was using an iframe (when using the DNS Zone Editor was entirely doable) so im not exactly sure their staff has much of a clue going on,

It doesnt only hide and "mask" but it's basically like being on a normal website, where the website actually changes for each page you go to. For example pretend i was using no-ip.org.

Instead of 123.456.78.9, i used no-ip.or and it was now website.no-ip.org. But it not only masks, if someone goes to index.php. It would be website.no-ip.org/index.php and if someone went to chat.php, their address bar would say website.no-ip.org/chat.php.

Nov 2, 2009I have a design client who's main site (eg. site.com) is currently hosted, let's say, at some-other-host.com. He wants to add a blog to his site. I could just set up a subdomain for it and be done with it, but for SEO purposes, I prefer to put his blog on my server which is a different IP.
So is there a way to put his blog, as a subdomain, on my server even though the main site is hosted elsewhere? Is there some magic that can be done in the DNS settings (cpanel/WHM) that can point to the files on my server? Or does he have to simply buy another domain for the blog?
Hosting A Subdomain Only
May 27, 2009I have a client that we will call "Domain.com" (example for this question).
Domain.com is a huge company that has their own servers, etc. etc.
However, they want me to host one of their subdomains for them...

Is this possible to host only that one particular subdomain for domain.com or are they going to need their root domain (domain.com) with me before I am able to host this subdomain.
And, if I can host only the subdomain, how do I do this?
Its just one of those things I have never done before in my years of hosting.

In otherwords, mysite.com is on my own dedicated server, but I wanted to host sub.mysite.com on lunarpages, godaddy, or any other host.

i host my domain.com on server-A and create a account with subdomain sub.domain.com on server-A,
some days later,
i move the account website to server-B,
a> i change the domain of sub.domain.com to sub2.domain.com on server-A from whm,
b> and i edit the dns from whm and add a a address record to point to the server-B.
i think my setting is right and the link will run well,
but i am not sure why sometimes people can not link the sub.domain.com,
and they check do the check "ping sub.domain.com",
and they will get the ip of original server-A,
because it assail me for months and i'm not sure how to fix it completely.
New Users And Subdomain
