Skynethosting.net Disappeared?
Oct 14, 2009
as much as i hate it, the host of one of our hosting packages, skynethosting.net, is not getting any tickets from the support system (skynethelp.com) and noone replied to me in chats, even though i DID find someone online right before. I am not getting tickets in my email when submitting them and i do not get any answer as well to my 5+ tickets in the past 5-6 days. They also have NO email address to contact them for support for "spam reasons" which i partly understand. I have no problem with this host other than this one, cause i need someone dependable to take care of problems as they arise. I can switch hosts in a heartbeat if i want to, i just want them to take care of this or at least be honest with me if they are going to close the company or whatever they are doing, or at least have a backup guy if something happens to the one and only guy handling all the support issues?
Anyway i am pretty pissed off by this, i never had such a problem with any host (cheap or expensive) and i was already thinking about moving to another host, but given they do not even answer my questions, how am i going to unsubscribe then?
If someone from the company is reading this, please respond, this is totally out of bounds, its almost a week with no support on a semi-dedicated package costin 30$/month!
Be aware and do not subscribe till you really know whats happening behind the scenes, as you might be in for a surprise.

I subscribed to SkyNetHosting at 27th December 2008.
At that time, it was a great experience for me, I had some questions with their packages, so I submitted the tickets and I got speedy and helpful support.
My websites with them are working really fine until recently. Starting from February, their server started to experience several downtime and the worst is, the accumulated downtime in a recent week is more than 30 hours.
I am extremely sad when I submitted the tickets to ask about it, they take more than 8 hours to reply me, which they updated me that the server is still down. I was expected them to tell me the server is alright now after half a day of downtime.
They finally decided to migrate the server when they think they cannot do anything to stop the downtime, which is explained at the following address.
http://skynethostingtalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=1359
My nightmare started again here, my websites experienced long down time again, which is more than 3 days, I wonder why do they take such long time to migrate servers?
After the migration, I thought all the bad things came to the end, but appatently I am wrong.
Few of my websites are showing strange content, which I think the content from other website on the server.
Few of my websites are showing the "cPanel Great Success" page, including the following message.
Great Success !
Apache is working on your cPanel® and WHM™ Server
If you can see this page, then the people who manage this server have installed cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM) which use the Apache Web server software and the Apache Interface to OpenSSL (mod_ssl) successfully. They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content.
I also cannot login to my FTP and Shell account.
Yesterday, I got new problem with them again, one of my website is showing some errors, which I think it was the error I have seen when I am working on the website. Which means, it was a outdated copies of my website, how could it be here when the website was working properly?
I suspected that they restored a outdated backup to my website without my notice.
I submitted a ticket to ask for help, they replied me after 9 hours, said that:
Hi,
The backup was created just before migrating the server. Please check now and let me know for any further assistance.
I am so tire with the downtime and I do not even care that they took 9 hours to reply me. The problem is, the ticket do not give me any solution and my website is still down!
Again, I submitted a ticket for it just now, I wonder how long would they take to reply me and recover my website this times?

skynethosting.net review
I have found skynethosting.net from WHT about 2 months back while I was looking for a new reseller plan. They have a decent looking site, plan details are listed clearly, on top of that they had good features for the price plus I got a coupon from www.sgwebhostingtalk.com where I got my space doubled along with a $10 discount.
(3/10) Order Process/Account Setup: I have placed the order and waited and waited almost a day without my account details ;( Then I had contact sale over live chat and they had setup my account over the chat since it was urgent for me. The live chat was helpful but I would have been happier if I got the account details in the first place. Not a very good first impression !!!
(8/10) Support: Support is fast. The average response time of 2-1 hour for most of the tickets and there have been few that took few hours to get done such as such as a problem with GD etc.
From the support Jessica was amazing and she seems to know anything about everything
(10/10) Uptime: I haven't noticed any downtimes with them and my servers uptime meter shows 100% for this month and 99.9... something for last month which is a good thing.
(8/10) Speed: My site was loading fine except one time I noticed a lag, I opened a ticket and they have corrected it and I never had that problem again.
(9/10) Value for Money/Features: This is an absolute plus I get 5 SEO IP's, Rvsitebuilder, clientexec and 15GB space with 200GB bandwidth on a non overloaded server. I guess this is one of the main reasons that I had decided to go with them in the first place. The features rocks
I'll probably update this page after few more months and let everyone know if its going to be good or bad. hopefully it will still be good -

I am a reseller for SkyNetHosting.Net for about 3 months now and yes we are new in hosting business. For this pass 2 months I'm having issues with my host server firewall. Every time I get myself blacklist I have to summit a ticket asking for my IP to be whitelist. Its fine with me but I don't think my clients are happy with this as we are getting almost 90% non-renewal rate..
They keep saying its my fault.. Ok, I can take that.. But how do I explain to my clients and most importantly my client's visitors??
Is there anything on the firewall settings that they should tweak to minimize this?
I never had any problem when I was at hostgator...
My user experience with you guys so far has been excellent, especially the support department and if I were to single out your tech support employee, it has to be Nathan. Thumbs up for his fast and reliable support.
However I have one major complain.. And that is your firewall issue as I keeps getting block/blacklist even for a mere moment of connecting to Luna Server for less than 10sec. Yes, you heard me.. just 10sec after i login to the internet and browse my sites there is a high possibility of my IP getting blacklist.
We're not a pure web hosting company, we received more web design projects where by they also host their website on our server. So you see, we maintain most of our clients website and regular FTP to multiple websites are required.
Here are the list of things I would do 1st thing when I login to internet, including my employee and my business partner. So if we multiply the below by 4 .. We will get blacklist for sure, most of the times!!
1. Login WHMCS
2. Login Livezilla Chat Support
3. Login webmail to check emails
4. FTP Updates on clients sites
I hope you guys can re-look into the firewall sensitivity settings where by it reduce or better still does not effect us business wise.
My Host reply to ticket
Hello,
I recommend to change ALL your FTP/cPanel passwords at once and if you are saving them on browser, FTP clients not to do it anymore. If possible try to login from a deferent clean laptop/PC and see if you get the same problem.
Kind Regards,
Jessica S.
---------------------------------------------
Hello,
Customers who save their FTP login credentials in FTP softwares like FileZilla, Cute-FTP, WS_FTP-Pro, Dreamweaver or Frontpage are prone to malicious scripts injections from their PC's using their legit cPanel login details via FTP and the owner of the domain/account were not even aware of it. Your login credentials are leaked to the hackers once a Trojan or Virus gets installed on your Windows Machine.
The easiest way to save your login credentials would be, to save them in a text document without saving the Domain name or Login Host information in the same document. To be absolutely sure your FTP account won’t get compromised, we highly recommend you choose a strong password which contains a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters such as $?£;: while adding a new FTP login name from your cpanel control panel. If you manage multiple websites may not like this change, but losing your data and then losing your rankings in Search Engines will create more trouble.
Few reads about this:

SkyNetHosting.Net Inc.
Honestly I don't think this issue can be resolve on the user end as we are currently facing a monthly non-renewal rate of 90% from our clients. If this goes on we would end up losing our reputation and most importantly our business.
Yes, I can tell them the same message that your tech support replied to me. But my clients do not understand and they would rather find a host that are less complicated "firewall sensitive". Is there somehow you can recalibrate the firewall sensitivity, so we all can have our peace?
My client on chat support
Hi Chester.
My Cpanel username is 'justin'.
This is with regards to my problem with the IP whitelist.
I need a no-nonsense answer.
I have visitors from the US complaining that they cannot view my site.
I cannot possibly be whitelisting everyone.
So, is it possible to tweak the filtering/firewall settings?
If it is not possible, I would like to exercise my money-back guarantee and close my account.
I would like a day to download my files and databases if that is possible.
I can pay a pro-rated amount.

I signed up a new hosting account two days ago. Yesterday, I found my telephone +91.1142316457 had been changed to +1.911142316457 and obviously telephone could not be confirmed. Their chat window vanishes on submit and telephone is not attended - I left voice message. I created support ticket and emailed back.
24 hours after signup I requested order cancellation. Despite reminder every few hours, I am not receiving any response.

I've been with Cyberpixels hosting for about 4-5 years now, and I tried to contact them about 4 months ago regarding login info for my ftp & domain since the original registration email was sent to a email account I had with a domain that just expired. Anyhow, 4 months later no tech support response! I've tried everything I can think of to contact them.. includeing phone.
This is a big problem for me because my business depends on my website and I can't access even the domain!! All my promotional work includes that web address (meaning I've spent thousands promoting a certin domain and now I'll be screwed if I can't access it).

Site has disappeared, though still shows normal in Parallels Panel
I keep a simple site for my art portfolio and some misc files hosted with unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk and Parallels Plesk.
Yesterday I noticed that the site and all its contents give a 404 error, and the home page shows the default page generated by Parallels Plesk Panel. However, all my files are still accessible from ftp and the Panel:
The index.html file is still the same old one as it should be, yet the homepage doesn't show it.
As per the default setup, all the content of the website is in the httpdocs folder, not the root. Though I did try copying the index.html to the root and see if that worked, but it did not. I'm very inexperienced when it comes to web hosting and everything related, so I'm not sure if it's somehow user error or if I should try to contact Parallels.
Here's a history of emails I received from them - notice how the invoices are followed by multiple payment confirmations:
So perhaps cancelling the one payment made them think I wanted to cancel the hosting and the site was taken offline? I don't know.
