i have a serious problems with my shoutcast accounts the last 2 months...i create in my ports 8002,8004,8006,8008,8010,8012 some shoutcast accounts via cast control...every 3-4 hours some of my accounts is crashing....i can't understand why....so every 3 hours i am going to cast control panel to start again the shoutcast server of the account which which crashed....i don 't know what to do any more...my hands up...
i found these script which i can use via cron job to check if each shoutcast server is up
#!/bin/bash
dte=`date +%d%b%Y`
cd /where/ever/you/run/stuff/
##-->> Check to see if sc_serv is running <<--##
ps -ef|grep -v grep|grep sc_serv >sc_serv_ok
if [ -s sc_serv_ok ]
then
##-->> Everything looks good, remove the file and exit <<--##
rm -f sc_serv_ok
exit 0
else
##-->> Log the error <<--##
echo "Possible abend of sc_serv" > sc_serv_prob_log.$dte
##-->> Email the log <<--##
mail -s "sc_trans" your-email@domain-name.com <sc_serv_prob_log.$dte
##-->> Restart sc_serv <<--##
cd /path/to/shoutcast/
./sc_serv
the problem is that i can't found the conf file for each account...where exactly CAST CONTROL creates it..i have the free version of cast sontrol 1.4...
I bought a VPS a few days ago and I'm trying to run a SHOUTcast on it.
The VPS is Linux, CentOs to be more specific.
I've installed Shoutcast and it's running, It's working with WinAmp as the website I'm running it on tells me what song is currently playing, how many listeners there are, etc.
1.) Is there a way to send signals via Windows? I need a way to have shoutcast reload it's configuration file without kicking the users. Normally, on *nix, you could just send the kill -s SIGHUP command and it'd do it. But I can't figure out a way to do this on windows.
If this isn't possible, does anyone know if you can run shoutcast RELIABLY under cygwin?
2.) The LogFormat that shoutcast outputs looks like this:
Code: c-ip c-dns date time cs-uri-stem c-status cs(User-Agent) sc-bytes x-duration avgbandwidth the problem is that cs-uri-stem doesn't include cs-method ("GET") so AWStats fails with the import of the log. Is there a way to manually add this into the way AWStats parses it?
If not, is there a special way to parse shoutcast w3c logs in AWStats?
weve had a box at fdc for over a year. everything was fine until about half that time ago and consistently has gotten worse over time. We've always been really good at tracking down problems til now.
traceroute and ping results are usually pretty normal, the machine is not overloaded however our server can barely handle any amount of listeners anymore, in fact it appears as tho the number of listeners has no effect on the server skipping and buffering every few minutes.
we've changed the sources its been fed from
checked the connection from multiple locations
ping and trace results are always decent or shouldnt warrant skipping with any number listeners. in a year weve gone from consistently hosting 100+ to barely getting over 20 and often less lately. its a huge bummer.
I am currently running DA on my VPS and have about 15-20 accounts on it. We are upgrading to a dedicated running plesk while we need it, but I have not found a tool or an easy way to transfer DA accounts to plesk without problems. Because of this, I feel it would be easiest to transfer the accounts to a cPanel VPS, then to plesk. I know hosts are not supposed to PM here, but if you can offer me a cPanel VPS sometime within the next week for 24-48 hours for under $5-7, that would be great. This may seem like a little amount of money, but realistically it is a good amount in comparison to the pricing for a whole month of service.
Me and a few friends of mine are planing on creating a Shoutcast online radio station and honestly I'm new to how Shoutcast servers work and witch host would be best for me and my friends. I have a few questions on all this.
Am I suck using Winamp to play our music over the server? Or are there other more professional tools to use?
This server will be used among a few friends of mine. So if no one us broadcasting will the server play a song play list till some one starts broadcasting?
Shoutcast servers only Stream music to Winamp players only?
Anyone here got any experience with “rackedhosting.com” Shoutcast service?
for what ever reason when i try to tune in to my radio it takes more than 10 seconds for the radio to start playing (specially on my port 8000). while other stations (competition) start right away.
my question is does it matter if i have my dns like this: [url]:8000 instead of [url]:8000 or do i have to look for something else not well configure?
with installing a SHOUTcast server to my VPS? I googled all around and followed the tutorials but I can't seem to do it. I'm also having some trouble SSH into the server.
after restarting my server i tried to start my shoutcast servers whicj right now its not working...i am getting an error when i am trying to start them again "error opening source socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!"
I attached new backup harddrive with system and enable increment backup so that it can generate server backup on backup harddrive which was new,

I'm not a direct client of Leaseweb, but it's not a secret that my domain is pointing at their servers.
I purchased a shared hosting plan from a reseller and since more than 43 hours my domain is down! My provider (the reseller) said he's waiting for Leaseweb support... according to my informations, in more than 24 hours they just made a reboot of the server!
I'm really bored of waiting with no chance of intervention! My provider says he can't do anything from his side, i can't contact Leaseweb cause i'm not a client... please, help, what can i do?
like to clarify this is not a post to bash liquidweb.
I have been a loyal customer of LW for the past 2 years (almost)
My websites have been down since Thursday 3:00 a.m due to "DDos Attack"
on Friday night, the network engineer told me the "DDos Attack" has stopped and problem should have been resolved. However, no websites were accessible.
On Saturday, I ensure you I have made many phone calls to Liquidweb dedicated server support and try to resolve this issue. (Never once did I raise my voice and they were being very polite.)
I believe the server admins that were helping was at the end of their shifts and every time I try to make a phone call to the person that was assisting me to get an update, liquidweb would tell me that he has gone home. Every time the server admin finishes his shift, the support ticket is not assigned to anyone else that is working until I make a phone call to them stating my problem.
I own quite a few large sites that generate over 3 millions hits per day and every hour of downtime means I will be losing valuable clients and revenue. That is why I am extremely frustrated with the 63 hours downtime as it seems like the results of working hard for the past 2 years is slipping away from me as the clock keeps ticking.
I am sorry, I am just trying to share this with fellow webmasters as I really need a place to express my feeling. (None of my friends will understand online business.)
Again, I am not bashing liquidweb...I must have really bad luck myself.
To start please take this in mind I have servers colo'd at FDC and have 0 problems, so i'm still all for fdc servers.
Here is my 24 hours review on my new vps server from FDC setup was quick less than 5hours after paying my invoice.
Now down to my problems. Off peak hours last night my VPS server was great 10 / 20mbits solid speed on sending data from the box today I am unable to get over 150kb/sec.
This doesn't help me since the nature of my business I need to transfer files fast between servers. The VPS speeds of 150kb/sec will be no use for my business if anything make our job harder.
These tests were taken using the internal fdc network transferring from the new vps to one of my 1gig fdc colos and other various servers I have on the FDC network.
After contacting fdc support about this speed issue they logged in and checked the speeds they did a download of the speedtest file from the fdc website around 30 - 40mbits. But they didn't test the outgoing from the server.
I received the response that I am sharing bandwidth on the node so speeds could vary so on there 100mbit unmetered vds package they are saying 150kb/sec is acceptable.
So basically after that my last response is if 150kb/sec are the speeds i can expect from a VDS then please cancel my server at the end of the billing period as the VDS will be no use to me.
So now I have been transferred to billing to cancel the vps at the end of the billing period.
So to sum it up, vps setup was fast and the vps runs great but don't expect the speeds you can get from one of there dedicated servers.
