I am looking for better disk performance. Due to the tight budget, I have to choose one of following options as my disk choice:
2 SATAII disk w/RAID0, 7200rpm, 32M cache for each disk
1 SAS disk, 15000rpm, 16M cache.
which one will be better and how better if other things(hardware & OS) are same?

can a Xen disk image be converted to a diskpartition?
Someone is asking whether I can host his disk image at his current host, which he is leaving for poor I/O (wonder why that would be ). I can host a diskimage, but I don't like diskimages (slow, and 100GB isn't very 'comfortable' either). Is there any way out there to convert a disk image into a normal partition?

I wonder why the USA used to give to the servers, only one disk? from my experience with the most disk malfunction occurs and the immediate unavailability of the server (and, if sufficiently intensive and does not lose data). Or is a solution which I have noticed, and they use it?

I have a debian4 server, and I've been playing around with apt adding different things I believe I'll need for this development box. Only today, I noticed that my disk sums doesn't seem to add up:

As you can see, I have used approximately 1.4GB of the 74GB, but regardless what kind of funky math I do, I seem to be missing about 3.5 GB or so. I know there might be 2GB as swap (which I'm not seeing listed, but it should be on a different partition not listed so it should be fine), even then, where's the remainder 1.5G

I use apache with CentOS VPS hosting for my blog. I only host one blog in this VPS account. I have 1.5GB RAM and I have 7, 500 page preview per day. My page loading time is 2-3 seconds (according to the pingdom tool).
I want to know what is the best performance (faster web page loading) W3 Total cache option for VPS hosting blog. Currently I use Disk to enhance for page cache and database cache for disk.

it took me one year to develop the disk cache tool which can dramatically boost your host and save your harddisk. it is like supercache, but more cheap and better speed.
check picture to see what it can do.
i will offer free download to test the tool by first 10 people. if u host huge traffic website, do not hesitate to try it. i already test it for half a year. it is time to publish it. pm me or post here to get free download.
i open to any opinion about the tool.

I've tried using Easy Recovery Professional. It sort all the files by it file type into different folder. I found a folder named .DB, there are also some .ado and . ldb folder too. I guess one of it is my database. The problem now is, i dunno how to read the file.
Do you have any idea to read it? I've tried many recovery system. eg. DiskInternals Linux Recovery, Disk Doctor Linux Recovery.

I'm about to purchase a 2nd server to be used as a database/app server alongside my current server (of which will be the web server).
I wish to use 2 x 146GB 10K SCSI hard disks (in RAID 1) on the database server, but will be keeping 2 x 320GB SATAII 16M in RAID 1 on the web server. Will the SATA hard disks affect the performance / effectiveness of the SCSI disks or will I benefit from SCSI even though they're only in the database server?
Also, I'm going for 10K hard disks over 15K because they $20 per month cheaper and it's already expensive ($150 p/m for the two 10K or $170 p/m for 2 x 15k). Taking into account the already hefty price, is it worth the extra for 15K?

As i can't get into plesk i don't know how to delete these old backup files, seem to be in a catch 22. Help

I have a server with two hard disks.
The centos operating system and plesk (and also apache webserver) are installed on the first hard disk.
I have mounted the second hard disk (6 TB with ext4 file system) in a folder under /var/www/vhosts/AHostingAccount directory.
This folder is accessible via plesk's file manager but i cannot access it via ftp.

I have a new CentOS 7, with Plesk 12, CentOS 7 by default has XFS filesystem.
I try migrate sites from another Plesk Server but Plesk agent say: "hard disk quota is not supported due to configuration of server file system" (my CentOS 7)
My CentOS7:
CentOS Linux 7.0.1406 64 bits
Plesk 12.0.36
My fstab
[root@ns ~]$ cat /etc/fstab
/dev/mapper/centos-root / xfs defaults,usrquota,grpquota 1 1
UUID=ba391bd5-786c-4ae7-8bbd-f36f831ae6eb /boot xfs defaults 1 2
/dev/mapper/centos-swap swap swap defaults 0 0
I added "usrquota,grpquota", then mount -o remount / ; but when I try quotacheck -fmv / I gest this:
[root@ns ~]$ quotacheck -fmv /
quotacheck: Skipping /dev/mapper/centos-root [/]
quotacheck: Cannot find filesystem to check or filesystem not mounted with quota option.
but quotaon command works:
[root@ns ~]$ quotaon /
quotaon: Enforcing group quota already on /dev/mapper/centos-root
quotaon: Enforcing user quota already on /dev/mapper/centos-root
The problem here is why Plesk does not recognize quotas as enabled on CentOS 7??
If I try this command it seems good:
[root@ns ~]$ /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/usermng --isquotable
0
Also I do this:
- Disabled Selinux
- Check all packages as quota, etc.
I have been using some reference: [URL] ....
