Oct 3, 2007I have resell account on one server. I just buy resell account from surpasshosting.com and i wont to move my account from the old one to surpasshosting.com . Well surpasshosting are helipng me to restore full backup for the accounts but there is a bigger problem. I'm from Macedonia and here we use .com.mk domains. to change nameservers to one domain it takes from 5-10 days and some of the sites are updated every day so 5days are to long. I have heard i can do some trick with DNS Zones

Which DC Should I Resell Dedi Servers
Jan 3, 2009I had shortlisted a few, although there may be more choices..
SoftLayer have lesser discount, but they have an excellent DC, hardware & more~
Gigenet have up to 30% discount and 15% at least, which is a plus, but I'm not sure about other stuffs, although they are also pretty reputable around..
LimeStoneNetworks have very little discount, and their servers are cheap, but their specs are pretty much *fixed*, and they do not seem to offer as much as the above..
HandyNetworks have cheap servers too, but they are not as competitive with the above 3, in the sense that they are not much interested to join the competition, remaining on their own track completely..
HiVelocity - No information, although their requirement is pretty simple..
Take2Hosting, although they have really cheap servers, their datacenter isn't as advanced as the others, and... Cogent... IMO more suitable for personal use, small sites etc.
IMO I will prefer SoftLayer, but their servers are quite expensive, so even if I get 4 dummy servers, which cost $119(their cheapest server) and multiple by 4 is $476, and get a server used to sell hosting, it will not be cheap.. However, on the other end, Gigenet has cheaper servers(especially their specials, really better than SL), although their entry server is $154, which I suppose everything will balance out, I just can't think of anything they can be better than SL, in terms of network, support, server administration(I heard and tried SoftLayer's portal to manage the server, it was excellent!) etc.
I will actually love to resell Gigenet servers, since it is a lot cheaper(in terms of discount), and their prices are roughly the same(except SL RAM is more expensive)..

May 19, 2008While browsing the offer sections and other providers, I noticed that there is a significant price difference per "1u" if it bought as a full rack vs. buying per unit.
For example, at Colopronto a 44u full-rack costs $550, which is about $12.50 per 1u on average.
While browsing the forums and colo providers, it seems like 1u goes for $50+.
Is it a good business idea to lease a full-rack to resell as 1u to customers? Is it that simple, or more involved?

Oct 16, 2013I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??

My streamers will be using my server aswell, On weekends we will be running 3-4 streams at a time, weekdays 1-2 at a time.

It's already up and running with static IP address, however hosting offers a "Static IP Address", which doesn't really make sense, cause I already have one?
Other thing is domain name. Current domain name is registered with a different company and we don't really want to transfer it from that company. Can I get away with importing a domain name and changing MX records in the domain control panel?

Briefly the spec is: Dual Opteron, Two 360GB HDD's, 4GB Ram, on Unmetered Bandwidth located in Germany.

Oct 21, 2009I got control of some colocation resource in Taipei, Hong Kong and several cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai and probably Guangzhou & Shenzhen), and is now considering starting a business by deploying blade servers into my racks with Internet bandwidth as well as private bandwidth interconnected between the above IDC.
My target will be corporation, web developer / SI who want their / their clients' web site or IP application online with target users in those regions.
I prefer to deploy VM or VPS instead of dedicated servers as space/electricity in China is very expensive and higher density should be the way to go.
So I'd like to know more what the difference is between VM and VPS in terms of customer perception and actual features.
