I have problem with dsn setup .

does that matter? because recently some seems to have problem accessing my site

I have just setup a .org website and when I point a browser to it, it only seems to load if I leave the www out in front of the name. Why would this be? What did I forget? The domain name is bsa272.org if that helps anybody.

I setup my cron job run daily and it automatically sends email to root@server.mydomain.com after it done. How do i setup forward email from root@server.mydomain.com to my gmail or other external email provider ? That means every time if root@server.mydomain.com receive email than my other maail will get that email too.

Whenever I have had a server with WHM/cPanel I have always been able to raise WHM by browsing to www.mydomain.com/whm - however on my latest server this doesn't work, I can only get to WHM by browsing to my IP:2086
The server has been up and running for 6 days and www.mydomain.com has been working almost from the beginning.
dnsreport shows that reverse dns exists for hostname.mydomain.com
I am at a loss to know why I cannot raise WHM by www.mydomain.com/whm

I just sign up godaddy email account premium plan, what i get is 100email accounts and 2gb of total. I also purchased a domain name.
My questions:
1. I think 2gb for 100 email accounts are too small for me, is there anyway to upgrade to bigger storage? or i have to purchase web hosting so that my email storage will get bigger?
2. I try to follow all the instructions provided by godaddy for the microsoft outlook setting of email. I cannot successful receive email, the problem is from the incoming mail server. Godaddy website asked us to fill in with mail.(Domainname).com, so i fill in with the domain name which i just purchased and it doesn't work, just keep pop out and ask me to put in username and password.

my nameserver are messed up ns1.32view.com works but ns2.32view.com doesnt everything seems to be done rite they both have their own ip both ips work correctly setup at godaddy aswell anyone got any ideas?

I am simply wanting to map on mydomain.com to anotherdomain.com. So i setup a CNAME on mydomain.com. Once propagated mydomain is not being picked up and is defaulting to the cpanel successfully installed screen.
I have tried this on another of our servers and this does work.
So my question is: can you use a CNAME to map mydomain.com to anotherdomain.com without having to add the mydomain.com to the apache VirtualHost ServerAlias?
It does seem like you can as i have this working on one server - is there an apache setting somewhere to block this?

Is there a way to prevent accessing the website using the domain.com/~username/
Currently on most (all?) cpanel hosting plans it's possible to access the site via [rl].
Maybe there is something to prevent that as it could cause very serious duplicate content issues.
Moreover, I think it's a global bug that affects millions of hosting accounts. Yahoo, for example, many times indexes wrong URLs because of that... In many situations, if I knew your cpanel username, I could link to it instead of your domain to remove your site from search engines..

After successfully installing postfix+dovecot on Debian, I've run into a problem using Thunderbird email client on my home pc to receive email. I get: "Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch"
How, then, do to I generate a certificate for mail.mydomain.com?
Before installing postfix+dovecot, I created an MX record for mail.mydomain.com, and an A record for mail.mydomain.com. Should I have also added mail.mydomain.com to /etc/hosts?
When setting up Thunderbird, I told it my Pop Server was mail.mydomain.com. When I attempted to Get Mail, then I got "Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch".

I have a blog (hindigo.net) registered and hosted through mydomain.com (Standard Windows Package). For the past days, it has been unaccessible most of the time (either keeps trying to load without success, or loads a blank page).
When accessing the site structure through FTP, all files are fine, and I can access the control panel without any problem.
I tried to get some info on possible server updates from the support, but their answers are not very informative:
- either a server update;
- or the site is working fine (it was indeed yesterday late, as I am in Asian time zone);
- or they ask to put DNS to NSx.MYDOMAIN.COM, while the hosting solution automatically puts NSx.MYDOMAINWEBHOST.COM
Am I the only one facing issues this past days with MyDomain.com, or is this general?
I am in the process of switching to another provider (Infomaniak.ch) anyway, but if this is a personal situation only (e.g. site attack?)

I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.

As my clients' needs expand, they're asking for chroot ssh/sftp setup. I'm currently on a dedicated Linux setup but don't really have the time to set up a whole new box with full virtualization or investigate a full chroot solution (baby on the way), and to be honest it would be less hassle to move to a new provider than worry about down time with sites.
What I'm looking for:
- linux hosting
- hosting for 30+ accounts, some with several domains
- at least 6 IP addresses for SSL certs
- each account in a full chroot environment (ssh/sftp/ftp) so they can't poke around each others' files, or each account set up in a virtual machine setup (ie: openvz)
- maildir
- spamassassin
- php 5, mysql, perl 5.8.8
- suexec apache would be nice

I have 1 server so I setup dns as ns1.mydomain.com, ns2.mydomain.com ip address pointed to server1. So, now I just bought another server. Can I setup ns2.mydomain.com pointed to 2nd server. Also how to setup more servers ie. 10, 20 server because I can only set up to 6 dns in one domain name.

I've registered a new domain name and 'hired' a Virtual Private Server (not managed) to host it. I know 'some things' in php and web design but I'm newbie with configuring servers (especially remotely on a Linux server.... )...
This is what I've done so far :
1. registered domain name at namecheap.com and set up DNS there (my VPS server names)
2. I've installed Linux Ubuntu 8.04 on my VPS
3. I've downloaded and installed XAMPP 1.7.1 on my VPS
I've registered my domain name yesterday and it is still 'invisible' when I type in the address... BUT when I type in my VPS's IP address, the XAMPP welcome screen appears (MySql isn't running though...).
I know this is a child's play for a Linux expert, please if someone knows a good tutorial, step-by-step guide on how do I set up everything to work properly....

i recently bought a Dell SC440, quite basic configured, the thing is that it came without (OS) so i downloaded (CentsOS) as my OS.
My question here is, i want to setup my server in order to host 15 of my domains and would like to have it setup like the (Lunarpages)

if I could assist his small company in setting up an FTP server. What they are looking to do is provide a way for people to login and access files. They can either bring down the files that are left for them or they can upload files. Is setting up an FTP server difficult? Is it time consuming? Can you customize it so that certain files can only be seen for specific usernames?

I installed Windows Server 2003 on a spare computer, Pentium 4 2.00GHz 760 MB of Ram. I have been looking allover google on how to setup a DNS server so that I can run my Clothing Companies website from home. Are there any guides that can help me from setting up DNS server to having the website appear online? I have been trying to set up this server for about a week now and still no luck. when I ping 68.109.88.131 it comes back successful and when I enter that in, in a url, the "Under Construction" page comes up.

1 if you have 2 cpu's in your server and one is broken, can i replace it easy?
do the server still work on one cpu? can i take the broken cpu out and put a new one in and still the server work when i do this?

We had the server management company setup name servers on the new server but SSH shows different results from the old versus new server. Here is the output:
Old Server:
root@host [~]# cat /etc/nameserverips
xx.xx.xxx.xx1=ns1.domain.com
xx.xx.xxx.xx2=ns2.domain.com
xx.xx.xxx.xx3=0
xx.xx.xxx.xx4=0
New Server:
root@www1 [~]# cat /etc/nameserverips
xx.xx.xx.x=0
They do not seem to match. Can someone provide some instructions as to how we can check within WHM to make sure name servers are setup corretly?

So when you setup a new server, what should I do. I will only be running 1 site for now (vbulletin forum site), should I just install Apache, MySQL, Php, setup the DNS, etc.
Or Should I just Install Plesk, and let that do it.
Most Likely will just be running a 2.53Ghz Core2Duo, 4GB 250GB. I have setup a webserver before just basically though but think I could manage. I think that Plesk would make it easier but would also eat up resources, on the other hand though not having it would use less resources but require more configuration.
