Which is the best place to purchase SuperMicro servers from, Germany or some other European country? Mind you that they will be deployed in Germany!
I am in search of SuperMicro servers as you can read from the title. What I need is to purchase 6-10 SuperMicro servers which will eventually be deployed in Germany. So the question here is whether it would be more suitable, with regards to prices, to purchase the servers from Germany or from some other European country that has better offers?
Many guy will be answer: "yes, we are interested". And many DC have a such offer. But, usually it mean some time for setup - from 15 minute to few hours. I speak about true instant server - you will select config what comply to your requirements, order it, pay for invoice and within a few minutes after payment receive welcome message.
What you think about such offer? What server config will be interesting and with what O/S, addons, budget, etc.
I was chatting with Drew online, he was very professional and helpful. We discussed my needs, the price and their network. Then I decided to give it a try. My server was delivered within half an hour. It was very fast in my estimation. A+ on the sales and delivery.
I will post my review later on down the road about the performance. But even now I get incredible speeds from my server.
I am interested to find out if anyone out there has hooked up an EMC SAN to a supermicro box running Redhat Linux. Fiber Channel implementation would be great but would love to hear opinions about iSCSI as well. I was told that EMC doesn't support Supermicro boxes and while that may be true I would like to know if anyone there has tried it.
[url] new superserver from supermicro: 2 independent dual socket 771 servers in single 4-bay 1U chassis.
each independent server is capable of dual Xeon Clovertown (quad-core) for total of 16-cores in single 1U chassis. each server also support 8x 4G FBDIMM max.
Intel is pushing Clovertown with very aggressive pricing! E5310 (4x 1.6G cores) is about the same price with woodcrest 5130, and E5320 (4x 1.86G cores) costs the same with woodcrest 5140.
I currently have a reseller accounts from Thawte, Comodo, and RapidSSL, but have realized that I can purchase Comodo and Geotrust SSL certificates cheaper from Namecheap.com and Enom.com
Namecheap.com support is (as always) superb. Any opinions from Enom.com support?
What about Resellerclub.com? I know that they recently started to sell Thawte certs at very good prices. How good is their support?
I am kind of new to the idea of colo and am curious how you know the amount of amps to purchase for your server? I want my machine to have enough to run efficiently without causing hardware failures.
From my previous experience I know that unless I purchase a domain-only validated SSL cert, I will need to send to the registrar documentation of the company owner of the domain the SSL will be attached to. I remember that from the times when Verisign was the monopoly.
I am in Peru and the official language is spanish, so I was wondering if in case documents are required to be sent, do they need to be officialy translated?
Just have a question for everyone. Does having a Dedicated IP on your shared service affect your purchase decision?
(i.e., When searching for Shared Web Hosting, do you make it a requirement that you get assigned your own Unique IP or do you not care if you are assigned the Main Box IP.)
I want to provide hosting with ads at the top of all pages but I don't want to deal with those "free hosting" scripts. I can set up the accounts manually, as it's a small and focused group I would be providing it to. I understand there is a simple way to place ads at the top of all the web pages on the server. Anyone know about this, can clue me in on how it's done?
if you could host a US ecommerce site anywhere, where would that be? is it better to host in the midwest to reach both coasts faster? is it cheaper to host in the sticks vs big cities?
we use 1/2 rack and only about 2mb/s bandwidth.... we currently host near NYC, but find that we never go to the datacenter anyway, so why pay for the convenience?
Seems blacklotus.net, blccgold.com and whole the IRC company it's a really BLACK business! BlackLotus.net is "legally" providing hosting for HYIP SCAMS (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HYIP)
Clear Proof:
Domain: Libertyreservebank.com Ip address: 208.64.126.97
Whois record of 208.64.126.97:
OrgName: Black Lotus Communications OrgID: BLC-92 Address: 3419 Virginia Beach Blvd. #D5 City: Virginia Beach StateProv: VA PostalCode: 23452 Country: US
Moreover, if you'll contact them about hosting for ChildPorn,HYIP or similar BLACK content they'll redirects you to sister site blccgold.com for the BLACK hosting services, just ask them.
On Feb 21 I ordered a dedicated server with geekrack.com So when i got my server, i had asked them to have it portioned a specific way, but it was not set up like that So, when i asked them to have it reportioned and reimaged to the way I asked to have it set up, they tried to charge me $30.00. I told them that it was a unfair charge, so they did the good thing and dropped the charge for it. I submited that ticket on Feb 24, and the owner told me that this will be taken care of by the next morning. So, i gave it 24 hours, more time than they said, and it still was not done. I called them and they assured me that they were working on this issue. I gave it another 48 Hours, and still nothing was done. I found out that they were a reseller through burst.net, so i called burst.net to see if they had a ticket for this to be done, and the support tech I talked to told me that a ticket had not even been submitted! So when i spoke with the owner of geekrack.net, she got all grumpy with me and said she was going to yell at burst.net because they were not supposed to release any information. I told her that i would want my money back because their service says that it comes with 24/7 support. Now i was not even getting support, unless you call support saying, "ok we will do this" and not doing nothing. The owner is still refusing to give me a refund, so I have filed a chargeback with paypal, as much as I hate to do that, i beleive it is the only way i will get my money back. So in closing, DO NOT BUY FROM GEEKRACK.NET UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCREWED!
where about I can get a decent 1/4 rack for a couple server's I'll be using and selling. I was thinking BlueSquare or Savvis. Blue square would be decent, although I don't see a price scheme on there website.
Poundhost, who are in the BSQ have been the most "attractive" to me. The rack is £260/month although It has a few thing's I would need more of and not sure if they offer it.
1) I will need atleast 50 IP Adress's
2) I want 20,000GB transfer on the rack, so each server get's 2000gb.
I was wondering also these question's:
1) Do I have to go to the datacenter personally, or can I send the server's down with a courier?
2) Is there a way on a rack, to limit each server to a set ammount of bandwith?
I'm asking these question's as I've never had a rack before, nor colocation, It's usually been dedicated. I've been looking to get atleast 50% of them quad core server's and hope they would sell like hotcakes.
I have spend 6 hours in the last 24hrs hand coding 300 lines of Permanent Redirects. I am moving my site from flat file (PHP with includes) to Drupal. I was going to drop it into the .htaccess file but am wondering if there is a more efficient place to put it since this is permanent. Should it go into the httpd file/Virtual host file, will cPanel over-ride that file?
I have agreed to rework my boss's storage rental facility website which means I will basically be starting over.
He's always trying to pinch pennies and suggested Google might be a good place to host the site.
From what I can tell, it looks like once you have your domain you pay $10 to host with Google them but it looks like a subdomain setting. For instance, my boss currently has a website called toeholdings.com and he's hosting with google. When I type in the toeholdings.com it redirects to http://partnerpage.google.com/toeholdings.com
If he's trying to get more traffic to this new website, won't that bury him since it appears to be a subdomain? I'm not completely sure what Google is doing here. It looks like beta version.
Does anyone know if their system includes website templates and software to help you build a site?
Does anybody know of any other hosts that have the multi site function that site 5 has? This allows you to add multiple domains under one account without having to use domain pointers. They are pretty close to loosing me as a customer with the current control panel debacle they have going on. So I was curious to see if any other host out there offers the same thing.
Who can you all recommend for renting out a quarter rack? Up until now, we've simply leased our servers, but we're ready to buy the things and ship 'em off. We have 4 servers we would like to rack - Two dual xeon 2.8's with 2gb ram, and two P4 3.6's with 2gb ram. I'm looking for US racking (but other locations, if you can highly recommend them, are fine). I'm looking for about 2TB Monthly Transfer per server - so about 8TB on a reasonably fast and reliable network.
I often need to access my sites from public places, which are behind firewalls, don't have access to hard disk and any Windows tool (just plain internet access).
Problem: firewall, closed ports: 8082 (cPanel), 2078 (SSL; I don't know, if I'll need this), 2077 and maybe others.
Which hosting features I need? to be able to
1. access cpanel, when port 8082 is closed (I was using cpanelproxy.net until now with success). 2. for uploading files from other websites directly to my website (without prior downloading on a PC hard disc) - I've herad SSH should work, but what exact SSH I need - any experience someone? Any other solution? I was trying WEb Disc feature in cPanel11 but it needs port 2078 or 2077 open...
Whenever an incoming mail is tagged as [SPAM] by SpamAssassin in my mail queue I see it is being redirected from spamassassin@mydomain-site.com to spam@mydomain-site.org
Sence mydomain-site.org is no longer active the [SPAM] mail just sits there in the queue and does not get delivered anywhere..
I am new to this stuff so I have no idea where I should look to change the option.
I am not even sure if it is suppose to this, I just want all SPAM to go to spamassassin@mydomain-site.com
I don't have cpanel or any real server management, so i am not sure where to look and what to edit so the mail stops going to the .org domain.
