I am using aplus.net to host a WordPress blog and want to create more blogs.
Since aplus.net took 26 hours to restore my blog when somehow it was corrupted (no explanation on what they did), I have decided I need to host it someplace where I have full control.
I would be prepared to reinstall WordPress on my own. I also want to have the ability to control redirects. aplus provides a handful of very weak tools for managing the site.
I'm looking for a host that would allow me to manage multiple domains, and multiple instances of WordPress. I'm prepared to manage the MySQL db (if I have to, though I would prefer it if I had support for this).
How many WordPress blogs should I host on a WiredTree VPS 384 which would not overload the server?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf i like to put 30 wordpress blogs on a vps no high traffic blogs will be between 50-250 uniques per day per blog and with space to grow if some blogs start attract good traffic
Im thinking about spending $59usd
but most important would be to find a suitable vps for what i need , what specs would
you recommend for this kind of usage?
Let's say a dedicated server has following specs:
Single quad core 2Ghz Xeon cpu
4Gb ram
250Gb SATA
100Mbps connection
and each blog has latest WP version and some plugins(without supercache) installed, 100 unique hits/day.
so how many blogs can I plant in this box?
(bandwidth is not considered.)
How many wordpress blogs can be hosted on a Hostgator Business Shared hosting or MediaTemple Grid-Service hosting account?
Also which one of the two is better hosting?
I'm currently using the Godaddy Wordpress Economy plan for 4.99/month but there's been a few downtimes during the past few days. So I was wondering if anyone can suggest another host that is suitable for a Wordpress Blog.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am hosting a Wordpress blog that currently uses 30GB of bandwidth per month. I want to introduce a forum as well so will probably need 50GB per month for now. But would like it expandable to 100GB in the future.
My requirements are:
No hidden CPU Limitations/No unreasonable resource usage restrictions.
Equipped to handle large surges of traffic.
No Overselling, able to use full allocation.
AND PROBABLY:
LiteSpeed - Does it really make a difference?
I have looked at MediaLayer, but they only provide upto 50GB transfer.
SecureServerTech looks good but uptime is only around 99%
At the moment Steadfast Networks looks the best.
My budget will be $20 for 50GB tranfer and $40 for 100GB of transfer, but this is not fixed and I would prefer quality over price.
Control panel does not mater but uptime does.
I'm currently hosting my wordpress blog with dreamhost (yuck). It recieves 2000 unique visitors a day, which amounts to about 10,000 page hits per day. Storage is around 2Gb at the moment and monthly usage is about 20Gb however both are likely to increase.
Please suggest what sort of hosting and a provider for me? Budget is pretty much anything (within reason). I would prefer not to spend more than $25 a month but can if the consensus is for something a little bigger. Reliability is important to me so I don't want the site to be down coz I was asleep when the server went down.
i need a free host solution for hosting my Wordpress Blog which has PHP5 and CPanel Support.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI currently have one blog on wordpress (a sub domain like name.wordpress.com).
I want to purchase a domain and also move it to a paid host. I am not really technically knowledgeable to do this. Have visited a few step by step guides but find them quite confusing.
guide to do the move/transfer of the blog, more for a beginner? And by the way is it simple to do or actually more for a professional?
So with a VPS you can host multiple websites?
Do certain packages come with WHM where you can make an account for each of your domains?
Also, what is the importance of having more IPs? Does having 1 IP allow me to have only 1 site hosted?
Is there a hosting provider that can host my private proxy (for myself only) with cgi hosting (for cgi proxy - I'd like to stay away from php based proxies) and provide multiple ips? Preferably different class C ips?
I want to host SQUID proxy on it too.
Price, of course, as low as possible, but I understand with these specific requests that low price is really last on my list.
Can anyone recommend a host that can host domains on multiple IPs (not neccesarily dedicated) under 1 single account.
We are already using ixwebhosting.com, but we need a lot more.
Our dedicated server runs our virtual machines for us and the NAT option is terrible...the virtual machines work REALLY well when they use a Bridged connection. The problem is that our virtual machines have to acquire an IP address somehow, and the hosting provider we currently use says they only give one IP address to our server which is fine if the NAT within the software worked really well...is there a webhost that can provide a setup where they have a router hooked to our dedicated server so if we need more local IP's they can be given/assigned by the router. This would then allow us to run our virtual machines much better. Does anybody know of a dedicated server host that will do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice that some forums are run by multiple web servers.
They offer choices for visitors from different regions so that they can enjoy a better speed when browsing.
e.g. Visitors from USA use www1 , visitors from Europe use www2
My question is: how to synchronize the contents and files between different web servers?
For the dynamic content, one database server can be setup. So that all php scripts on different web servers can retrieve from the same database source.
But then, in a real-time forum, how to synchronize the files between the web servers? For example, one user from www1 uploads a file. This file will go to www1's filesystem. How to make this file appears in www2's filesytem?
I can think of 'rsync' every minute between servers. But still it's not real-time, and there may be problems if sychronication can't be finished within the minute.
I use a couple of different hosting companies.
Recently, I've begun setting up blogs.
I've been trying to set up blogs on Company "A" for the past month and have had nothing but problems.
While waiting to hear back - one more time - from tech support on Company "A"
I set up a blog on Company "B". Everything set up perfectly, smoothly and in about 1 hour I had the blog up and running.
I'm using 2.5.1 WPB and plugins that are NOT known to have "issues".
I've used the same themes and plugins on "A" and "B".
I changed permissions on a couple of the plugins (company A) and the plugins just disappeared.
I tried setting up widgets and none work.
if there are specific settings server side that make setting up blogs work/not work?
is there a host that lets me add on as many unique ip as i want for extra cost?
for example, i want to test out several prototype .com sites on the same server. however, i want a unique ip for each site.
Has anyone done a benchmark of test files for multiple unmeetered hosts during peak hours?
I have a 100mbit server at ThePlanet i could use for benchmarking. I could write a simple benchmark program to record the time+speed of a list of shared bw test files.
I'll have it sample each host for 10sec every hour. With that we can make a speed/time graph for each host.
My server is in TX on a shared line but not unlimited BW.
It would be nice if we can get some benchmarks from other data centers.
Would this reflect actual speeds?
Does anyone know of a tool (I've seen it before but forgot the name) which is a bar like 100x30 in pixel and when you click it, a box popups allowing you to select facebook, orkut, myspace, wordpress, etc etc, and you can blog the current site url you are surfing?

View 5 Replies View RelatedQ: Does one need to have more than one ISP (outside) static IP address to host its own mail and web server?
Or will one static IP with port forwarding to two different machines (one mail and other web server) be good enough?
What would happen if one wants to host two websites on one machine (web server) and have webmail to access emails (presumably via port 80) on another (mail server)?
My only concern is I guess my ASA 5505 won't support more than one assigned static IP or am I wrong?
I know Hostgator has a special SEO hosting package that includes seperate ip's and such but I had a bad experience with them a couple of years back.
Can anyone that hosts multiple sites on multiple ip's (different class 'c') tell me about their hosting packages (prices, bandwidth, supports, downtime, etc...)
I have been tasked with setting up IIS6 to run 10 different sites. We will be using the Host Header Names approach as I do not have 10 IP addresses. I want to allow clients to upload/download to their site via FTP. My IIS6 books have examples of how to setup separate FTP sites for individual IP addresses, how do I accomplish this when using Host Headers? I just need to be pointed in the right direction.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been building a business around blogs and other social media items on mostly OSS technology - but unfortunately, my current reseller account is inadequate for what I need (especially with sites that query a DB) and unable unfortunately to upgrade to what I might need. I don't want to rip on them because they've provided me great service, but they're just not able to ramp up. My thought is there won't be any reseller to meet my needs after learning more info, so I'm going to make the leap up.
I'm not going to go pound the pavement for hosting business; this is only really for my clients I serve as a agency/consultant/designer and my clients need and deserve more.
I have been considering Mosso; but also weighing a dedicated box as it's around the same price and looking around here for the solutions people recommend for the past few hours. But since I sort of have a specialty application, I thought I'd ask for your recommendations.
I want to say that I came here from another forum because my provider was affected by the Planet outage and the conversation and knowledge was great; you are a very smart community. I hadn't heard of this place beforehand but am glad I found it.
I am using apache as a reverse proxy, I have several site with http and everything is working fine. For the first time I have tried to configure with https port 443 with certificate, the problem is that it doesn't return to the browser the certificate that I have indicate in the "virtual host" but rather the default certificate of the site.
Here is my virtual host :
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerName hygie.sante-idf.fr
SSLEngine on
SSLProtocol all
SSLCertificateFile "/root/apacherp/cert/hygiesslcertificate.cert"
SSLCACertificateFile "/root/apacherp/cert/hygieCAcertificate.cert"
SSLCertificateKeyFile "/root/apacherp/cert/hygieprivate.cert"
ProxyPass / http://XXXXXX/
ProxyPassReverse / http://XXXXXX/
</VirtualHost>
Everything is fine when I start stop, I m sure the entry is used I have added : NameVirtualHost *:443
But the Certificate information arent the one that I have enterred , but the default values I think....
