our collocation provider don't sell SPLA windows server licenses and I need to setup a dedicated server with Windows Web Edition, so I'm now looking where can I buy the license for this server, can you tell me who can sell me this kind of license?
I am wondering, when you are offering MSSQL server in a dedicated server, would you quote your customer a Per Subscriber License? or Per CPU license? It has big big differences. What is the common practice? I have an headache studying the complicated license usage details.
i am thinking to get a server with Brustnet. i do have my own windows 2003 enterprise edition license. i just want to know am i allowed to install my own cd iso with license.
I see most of the providers offering Windows 2003 STD license $20-$30 per month. I wonder how is that done, do they buy licenses in bulk and then lease them monthly basis or there is an agreement with Microsoft. I have a few linux boxes colocated and would like to procure Windows licenses on my own. Also how to go for licenses for VPS server?
We are in need of one windows servers with windows web or standard edition with atleast 5 RDP logins, i came to know from company that we have to pay for additional logins, the number of logins provided will be only 2 per server, is it true.
Other company says that we can create any number of user inside the server and access the server via RDP
When I attempt to go to Tools & Settings > External Services > View Services I am redirected to [URL] .... where the page attempts to load for around 2-3 minutes at which point I receive the error :
"Error: Error validating license."
I have checked the logs and event viewer but see no warnings or errors related to the issue. As far as I can tell it is a problem on Plesks side as it seems that the handoff from my panel is already done.
Can anyone give me some insight on how VPS licensing works with SPLA? According to my reseller, each VPS needs its own standalone license which seem to differ with what I read somewhere about Microsoft Server 2008 allowing up to 8 virtual stances with 1 license or something like that.
Forget everything you've learned about Windows Server "authenticated" and "unauthenticated" licensing for your monthly SPLA reports. The game has completely changed, and NOT for the better.
Microsoft has changed to "outsourcer" and "non-outsourcer" licensing instead.
Quoting Microsoft:
Quote:
"Outsourcing is an application or service that a service provider manages for their customer. For purposes of this definition, the managed application or service is: (a) Used by its customer's employees, contractors, agents, or vendors (b) Not the service provider's intellectual property
I contacted MS directly for clarification on how this applies to webhosting. The response was, if the service provider is (and I quote), "simply managing the infrastructure layer and not managing anything else... in other words just keeping the lights on", that is non-outsourced.
If you are providing any software or management of the environment, even something as simple as Windows Updates or other basic management tasks on the server-- which is the case, for example, if you are running a shared webserver, then it is "outsourced".
Your email server is providing a service that is considered an outsourced service, and you must report (and pay for) an "outsourced" license for that server.
And here is the bad news.
Under the old terms, the Datacenter edition of Windows Server (which allows unlimited VMs at no additional charge on the machine where the license is assigned) cost just under $50/month.
The new "outsourcer" Datacenter license is nearly $250/mo. Yes, you read that right, a whopping 400% monthly license fee increase for Datacenter edition.
A single copy of Windows Server Standard edition is over $75/mo. when used in the outsourcing role.
Other pricing and terms have changed as well, so grab a copy of the new SPUR and READ it. All it takes is a moment of uncertainty to put you wildly out of compliance under this new layer of insanity.
I have a Microsoft Virtual Server VPS and I was looking at cpanel licensing prices which is cheaper for VPS (~$15/month for VPS, compared to ~45/month for dedicated). However, it doens't say what kind of VPS can be used for this pricing. Does anyone know if it matters for cpanel pepole? Or as long as it is VPS, they are okay with it?
Is there any recommended hosts that offer Dedicated Server with Virtuozzo License. What are the things to look for when choosing a provider for VPS offering. What is the recommended hardware for average VPS hostings.
I remember The Planet used to offer Dedicated Servers with Virtuozzo license a few years back but I couldn't find this information anymore there. Who are the lead players for dedicated servers for VPS currently in the industry?
I need to transfer plesk from current existing server to a new server. I don't need to migrate existing data. I've already installed plesk in a new server. How to retrieve the license key files. I cannot access the existing plesk panel over SSH or HTTP due to an IP blocking issue.
I got a new server from uk2, has whm but i just couldnt get the server to work, i changed hostname and made nameservers etc but couldnt get it to work i pointed ips to hostnames and everything no response, domain is www.uploadline.com ns1.uploadline.com and ns2.uploadline.com i havent used cpanel for 2 years now and i used to have alot of experience in it before these days i just stick to directadmin and other control panels.

Quote:

Unable to establish connection. License server hostnames could not be resolve to IPs. Done .Done root@server1 [~]#
When I try to add my ip it show error that the ip is already exist now I can not buy additional license. I submit ticket to lxlabs but no reply, If I change main Ip then it will make any difference to other VMs?
I know I should be asking DirectAdmin this question, but I do not want to wait until Monday. I want to know if DirectAdmin allows VMware VPSes on their VPS license. I know cPanel does.
i was hosting with the planet and moved to ecatel for some issues ,i used to get cpanel for just 25$ from theplanet ,here ecatel asks me to get license directly as they don't sell cheapest i see on web is 38$ is there any other place i can get the price theplanet gave me
Just received this from cPanel... it is a substantial price increase (33%). Should be fun explaining to customers why they will start to be billed more...
Earlier this year we released cPanel VPS Optimized as part of our ongoing effort to provide quality web hosting automation software. You can learn more about this optimization of our software for VPS environments on our website at:
http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpvps/
In order to provide optimized software and ensure continuous updates for your virtual server customers, effective September 1, 2008 the monthly pricing for all internal virtual server licenses will be increased by $2 per license.
This price increase is for virtual server licensing only and will not affect your dedicated server license pricing.
