May 1, 2009how to validate if the windows server license is legal, e.g. If we find our server provider is using illegal license, what can we do?
Will my server be shutdown when MS detects that?

May 26, 2008I see most of the providers offering Windows 2003 STD license $20-$30 per month. I wonder how is that done, do they buy licenses in bulk and then lease them monthly basis or there is an agreement with Microsoft. I have a few linux boxes colocated and would like to procure Windows licenses on my own. Also how to go for licenses for VPS server?

Dec 14, 2008I bought a backup account recently and am using rsync to backup the home directory to this remote server.
How can I periodically ensure that everything is being backed-up?
Is there a "dir /s" equivalent in linux? which would give me a list of all files and their size from both servers? I can then compare the two lists using beyond compare or something similar.

Mar 6, 2014When I attempt to go to Tools & Settings > External Services > View Services I am redirected to [URL] .... where the page attempts to load for around 2-3 minutes at which point I receive the error :
"Error: Error validating license."
I have checked the logs and event viewer but see no warnings or errors related to the issue. As far as I can tell it is a problem on Plesks side as it seems that the handoff from my panel is already done.

May 30, 2009One Webhost is offering MS SQL 2005 Standard Edition (Processor Licence) for US$385 per month.
Another webhost is offering MS SQL 2005 Standard Edition with 5 CALs for US$35 per month.
The first webhost says CALs are not available and that:
"A Processor License is required for running a Web server that is open to public access. Using CALs may put you in question from Microsoft's legal point of view if the inappropriate license is applied."
Only 3 people have access to the server and the website, I think, is very standard. www.culture360.org
