Can Cpanel VPS License Be Used On Microsoft Virtual Server?
Sep 1, 2007
I have a Microsoft Virtual Server VPS and I was looking at cpanel licensing prices which is cheaper for VPS (~$15/month for VPS, compared to ~45/month for dedicated). However, it doens't say what kind of VPS can be used for this pricing. Does anyone know if it matters for cpanel pepole? Or as long as it is VPS, they are okay with it?
Do you know is Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 really free? By this I mean can I start VPS hosting business using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 without paying any license fee for virtualization product? Are there any restrictions?
I was very unpleasantly surprised when I found out that VmWare Server is actually not free and totally unusable for VPS hosting companies, although when you read their FAQ you get impression that its free and that ESX is just "better version". In fact for VPS hosting VmWare is not free and its totally useless.
So I am interested if there is some "minor glitch" in Microsoft agreement for Virtual server as is in VmWare agreement for VmWare Server?
One Webhost is offering MS SQL 2005 Standard Edition (Processor Licence) for US$385 per month.
Another webhost is offering MS SQL 2005 Standard Edition with 5 CALs for US$35 per month.
The first webhost says CALs are not available and that: "A Processor License is required for running a Web server that is open to public access. Using CALs may put you in question from Microsoft's legal point of view if the inappropriate license is applied."
Only 3 people have access to the server and the website, I think, is very standard. www.culture360.org
Our org does not wish to do anything illegal. Which one is most appropriate? The price differences are very large.
I have a potential client that uses it and ISA is blocking the ports my control panel uses so they need to open up the ports. Anyone know how they can do this? They're not local otherwise I'd just stop by and tinker around until I figure it out.
We're looking for a VPS in the UK that comes with cPanel. Ideally we'd want around 100GB storage and 1GB Ram. Budget is around £40. Can anything be bought for that price?
I have a client who needs a solid webhost that supports MS exchange server for his email.
I usually recommend Bluehost , but I guess they donât do this. Quick turnaround time on email tech issues (2-4 hours) and phone support is also needed. The client is definitely a phone person.
It should be Wordpress friendly. My CMS that I'm using is actually Textpattern, but most people don't know it so I just opt for the default popular version, Wordpress.
i was hosting with the planet and moved to ecatel for some issues ,i used to get cpanel for just 25$ from theplanet ,here ecatel asks me to get license directly as they don't sell cheapest i see on web is 38$ is there any other place i can get the price theplanet gave me
Just received this from cPanel... it is a substantial price increase (33%). Should be fun explaining to customers why they will start to be billed more...
Earlier this year we released cPanel VPS Optimized as part of our ongoing effort to provide quality web hosting automation software. You can learn more about this optimization of our software for VPS environments on our website at:
http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpvps/
In order to provide optimized software and ensure continuous updates for your virtual server customers, effective September 1, 2008 the monthly pricing for all internal virtual server licenses will be increased by $2 per license.
This price increase is for virtual server licensing only and will not affect your dedicated server license pricing.
I would like to understand what is the difference between VPS and a VDS. I understand they sound the same, however from a cost stand point VPS is way cheaper than VDS, and I am not very sure of the reason.
Can I use this edition for hosting on dedicated server, and how does it compare to the enterprise edition ? Can it be used with hosting? The web edition sucks as I can not install ms sql on it, so it is useless. Anyone use sbs server to host his website, because most of the link i read never mention it for hosting, and only for print sharing/ filesharing/ business applications, but where is it's use for hosting?
So what do you think ? IO looked at its infor and it did not provide much?
our collocation provider don't sell SPLA windows server licenses and I need to setup a dedicated server with Windows Web Edition, so I'm now looking where can I buy the license for this server, can you tell me who can sell me this kind of license?
In Plesk 12.0.18 #4 I checked Grant the ALTER DATABASE permission to all Microsoft SQL Server database users . The problem is I cannot rename database tables or other functions with myLittleAdmin for SQL provided with Plesk.
My question is: Am I doing something wrong or is needed to upgrade the myLittleAdmin license to Full version?
