Web Hosting That Specializes In High Bandwidth
I have a dedicated server currently hosted over by Aplus.NET
I have a 3000 GB Monthly Transfer limit and we have been going over this limit for the past few months. This has resulted in a large sum of overage fees.
I am looking to go to another hosting company that is just as good as Aplus.NET, if not better... with a better traffic rate. A friend told me about Choopa.com and I wanted to know how good of a company they were. What are some other top reliable hosting companies with premium servers and that specialize in unmetered bandwidth?

Cheap High Transfer/bandwidth Hosting
I know you get what you pay for with hosting, but with the ridiculous overselling going on I am finding it hard to work out how much bandwidth I can genuinely expect to get with about 500MB space and 99%+ (preferably more like 99.5%) uptime for $5/month. I will be using all this bandwidth for hosting legal mp3s (sanctioned for promotional use by labels and artists), and would prefer the host to be based in the US or UK.

I'm currently running a vBulletin message board with about 26,000 members. At any given time there are about 200 members actively posting. The first thing i'm thinking of is cpanel but there's many others If you're runing a server with 5000gb traffic/bandwidth per month When you're creating hosting accounts, could you allow 5000gb in each new account you're creating? UK Web Hosting 500MB Space 1GB Bandwidth Existing .org.uk Domain
I'm the webmaster for a church website: stpetersbraunstone.org.uk and our domain & hosting renewal is coming up, so I'm looking to see if there's a better deal. We're with namehog.net (and have been for 2 years with no problems at all) on their Professional package. The renewal fees are 105GBP (web hosting) + 5.90GBP (domain name) + 17.5pc VAT to cover the next 2 years, which comes to 130.31GBP. The site is powered by WordPress, so PHP and MySQL are needed. And we upload lots of photos, so need at least 250MB webspace I'd have thought. So far, our highest monthly bandwidth usage has been under 800Mb, and our visitor numbers are increasing and our highest monthly figure so far was 401. Any recommendations gratefully received. There seems to be many different companies out there who offer what I want, so I'm after some personal recommendations please. I've already used this site to discount streamline.net due to bad reviews. I'm looking at fuzioned.com and redfoxhosting.co.uk - any thoughts? I've also come across no-wires.co.uk - has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? And yes, I have submitted my details to the "request quote" thing.

High Bandwidth VPS
I host a podcast that's rapidly gaining popularity. At the moment, we push about 100gb/day of transfer for the episodes, but could easily double that in the next few months. I need a host that does at least 2tb a month with the ability to later upgrade to more. My operating budget is about 110$/month, but could go a little higher if needed. Most of our activity is composed of sending files, so usage is pretty low. I'd probably only need a few gb to store the actual content (30mb mp3 files). It's also important that Adult material is allowed (the content of the audio podcast is explicit). I'm aware of FDC and AT&T, but would like any other recommendations you guys could give.

High Bandwidth Host
I have a client who has came to me for advice on his web site. I own a dedicated server and manage it using PLESK. I do pretty well managing it but I'm definitely not an expert on hosting by any means. So I need your help. He is starting a new web site and he is going to do radio advertising on a lot of stations and expects to get a lot of hits. The web site seems to be pretty small with only a few pages of text and minimal pictures, so I don't think it will use that much just by the site being so small. But anyway, I want him and me to feel comfortable that the site is not going to go down no matter how many hits he gets. How do I guesstimate this? What are some good hosting companies that offer high bandwidth and protect you from overage charges -- or at least charge little for overages. I'm looking to spend less than $80/month. Also, do you have any idea: How many users will 10GB bandwidth cover if it's only a 5 page site with one picture on each page and 5 paragraphs of text just to get an idea.

High Bandwidth = Unfunctional FTP
I have an unmetered server capped at 100Mbps. The server is a media server, used to host heavy media files such as videos, flash and so forth. (there is no website on the server, just media files) Everything works fine, all the media loads without a problem. Downloads are fast. However, I have big trouble uploading stuffs. The FTP is either extremely slow or disconnects me. I talked to my host, and they say the server is hitting 100Mbps bandwidth limit, and I should upgrade to 200Mbps. However, all my videos and media load fine, there are no problems except for the FTP. Are there any solutions to this? I don't want to spend money on another 100Mbps just for FTP, especially when everything else is working without a glitch.

Extremely High Bandwidth Server
today i got a message from a client asking about hosting his video himself, catch is, he has a shitload of viewers, im looking at servers in the range of quad core (maybe dual quad), 8gig, 4 hdd raid10, gige uplink, however the kicker, depending on how out of whack my estimates are, 100 to 400mbit SUSTAINED upstream (spiking all the way to max'n that 'little' gige pipe) Has anyone got suggestions on who i should even consider for this? I'm a bit dumbfounded myself as i'v never even thought about a server on this much sustained bandwidth before today.

Server Sending High Outbound Bandwidth
My datacenter has told me about my server sending high amount of outbound bandwidth from my server: During the attack time my email logs, I found several messages: cpdavd failed @ Thu Nov 6 12:21:18 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Question #1. How can I check which user is using cpdavd (connect from their PC to the home folder) I suspect someone is connecting their PC to my server and uses very high bandwidth! The datacenter says the attack is still going on when they plug in the server. Question #2. How can I check what is sending outgoing traffic on the server right now?

Like if you try to make your own server, it would cost a few thousand right? Or bought one from IBM or something. If you rent a server, it could cost you like double that I notice or even more in a period of a year. I was looking at the prices of Xeon 5420 and they are like only 400 or something. Motherboard, ram, hdd's shouldn't amount to too much right? And companies are charging like 50 bucks a month for a 2 gigs of ram. Or am I actually looking at this wrong and actually am looking at desktop components? So is bandwidth the cost for these prices? In the long run aren't people being ripped off?

Server Setup For MySQL + High Bandwidth
if I could get some input on this. Currently I'm running an Opteron 246, 2GB RAM with 2TB bandwidth/mo. I run a single site which is currently 99% HTML, along with an invision forum which is fairly popular. I get about 300-400k pageviews per day. Right now the server is able to handle this stuff without much of a problem, and the average CPU load is between .5 and 3 (after a TON of tweaking!) - the only exception is when the forum db is being backed up/optimized, which isn't a huge problem since it happens during the off hours. The problem is that I'm running out of bandwidth quickly, and need to come up with some kind of solution soon. My current provider offers bandwidth at $1/GB, which to me seems crazy compared to other providers, so that's not really an option. I was thinking about switching to a more affordable provider and upgrading hardware, but I'm not sure what the best approach would be. I'm in the process of moving my HTML content over to a PHP-powered CMS, so I need to make sure whatever I do can handle that... What might be a decent setup for a site like mine which consumes a lot of bandwidth and will probably need more CPU power in the near future for PHP/MySQL stuff?

I'm picking up a client who is a video production company and hosts a lot of their work for their clients on the web. They have two sites right now for two different branches of what they do, but they are beginning to scale up a bit and want to switch from a local ISP hosting package to something more commercial. I like the idea of a VPS, but their current budget is rather low. Because of that, I am a bit attracted to hosting packages from site5 and dreamhost (both of which I've heard good and bad things about). Ideally, I would be looking for a VPS along the lines of: 50-75GB disk space 256-512MB RAM 750GB-1TB Bandwidth Linux OS with Shell Access cPanel or Plesk Control panel It'd be nice to keep their budget around $50/mo, but I know that might be asking a lot. They have two websites currently for their production needs. What would be the advantages of a VPS over multiple hosting accounts at Site5 ($7.50/mo) or Dreamhost ($6/mo)?

Suspecting Server Is Causing High Bandwidth Usage
For the past few days, one of the server is causing a bandwidth utilization surge for the entire rack on almost daily basis. It happen for a few minutes and it went off then it will be the same thing again the next day. When the surge is happening, most of the servers on the same segment will be inaccessible for the few minutes. The bandwidth utilization graph for my rack is recording an abnormal surge from (6mbps --> 90mbps) for the few minutes. My MRTG is showing 2 of the Plesk servers giving the problem but the NOC guys said it the Cpanel that causing the problem. I tried logging in to both servers but could not find what's the cause for this.

High Volume, Low(er) Cost Bandwidth In Panama
I'm looking at a project that would need to be located in Panama for server co-location. It will be very bandwidth intensive, requiring 100 megabits to start and moving up from there. Going with a slightly more "value" oriented provider provided there's a backup (even lower bandwidth) available would be an option, as this application would tolerate limited periods of reduced bandwidth. Can anybody point me in the direction of some data centers that might be worth looking at? Are there any bandwidth providers down there with a real value focus? Every web hosting company I've seen has a certain amount of monthly bandwidth for a dedicated server. For example, one hosting company offers a dedicated server with 10TB of bandwidth per month. Question is, why don't web hosting companies offer 2 monthly bandwidth options like International and Local? Local bandwidth costs alot less than International bandwidth. So for example, a web host based in the USA should have a Dedicated server with 10TB Local monthly bandwidth and 10TB International monthly bandwidth. I was just curious as to whether anyone has ever came across a situation where your monthly bandwidth/transfer quota is being consumed at an exponential rate without any increase of traffic to the site? My current situation is this. I have an account 2mhost and a monthly bandwidth transfer quota of 100,000 MB. For the past few months it's been steadily growing. When I first transfered the site to this host their cheapest package quota wasnt sufficient and I ended up with a bandwidth overage error page on my site, so I had to upgrade. In doing so I've always ended the month just shy of 80% total quota. My problem is that it's only the 17th, and a few days ago i was at about 32%, now im at 51% with no increase of pageviews. Looking into awestats shows the alexandria2.2mhost.com using 30 gigs!! I questioned the tech support via live chat and they said it was wordpress accessing the images. Looking For Web Hosting For A Web Game
First I would like to start by explaining my past and current situation. When I was in High School I created a web game called Jinopets.com that was intended for me to learn how to Code PHP and to create things with a couple of friends. However, within 3 days the game exploded and receiving large amounts of hits and users by nothing but word of mouth. Before I knew what to do, my host said the price of my next month was going to go up from $5 to $50, and at the time I knew nothing about web hosting and was making (barely) enough money from Google Ad-sense so I gladly paid them to continue working on the game. As the site got larger, the host continued to ask for large amounts of money until I could no longer afford the game because the host was kicking me off of his hosting because I was simply taking up too much of his space. (I was going to link my daily usage data here, but apparently I have to post 5 times first to add links.) Now, there is more. I am NOT hosting the same game, but I am expecting similar numbers just increased a bit higher with a few differences. This game extensively uses PHP GD Image Functions to generate images for characters and map data. So I expect the server load to be much higher. But PHP GD Image Functions must be on the server, Which I do not anticipate to be a problem. What is the recommended solution for web hosting? I live in a fairly remote area and could not host my own server, but I am afraid of being removed from a hosting plan again after what happened last time.

Unknown Company "Easy Web Hosting" Taking Over My Web Sites
I just received two e-mails which may be some new kind of phishing scam. Full text at bottom. The message describes the beginnings of a "site upgrade" for my web sites, but it's not from the company that does my hosting. I received this for two sites that I have hosted with EZpublishing. I'm having terrible problems with EZpublishing; they lost most of my databases last Friday, have failed to respond to a trouble ticket, and phone calls divert to an answering service. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They may be going out of business and selling their remaining customers to another provider. So a message regarding migration to another host isn't unexpected. But the message below looks phony. First, they know what my domains are, but they don't apparently have access to any of my customer account information. Second, "easywebpublishing.com" doesn't have a live web site at it, just a sort of "coming soon" page. The WHOIS info for the domain shows ownership by "Internet Names for Business". "megawebservers.com", from which the email originated, is sort of a skeletal web site that looks like a hosting provider, but doesn't have any real info. "megawebhosting.com" WHOIS info shows "Moniker Privacy Services", which usually indicates a bottom-feeder if not a scam. Anyone else see anything like this? .....

High Storage Hosting - 20 X 20 TB
I need to put a proposal for a client who has 20 TB data storage (files/images). Will propose PHP/mysql - mysql for meta data of files and other authentication etc. Application/mysql could just be ~10 MB. The storage would increase (incrementally) ~ 1 TB per year. And data needs stored at a different place for Disaster Recovery point of view. Need to figure storage costing. Hosting A High Traffic Site
We expect a site on one of our boxes to receive a significantly high level of traffic tomorrow as it is an event that will be covered and has already been covered by the press. The site operator expects > 100,000 hits a second. It's a PHP page that pulls records from a database and lets people submit a form to insert a record. We have already put a caching script in place so that refreshing the page does not result in doing another database query. The site was overloading a shared server, and we've moved it to one of our VPS boxes - it's the only VPS on the system at the moment. The box is a Quad Xeon 5410 with 4GB RAM with a 4 10K RPM drives in a RAID5 setup.

Is there any conventional wisdom on WHT about which shared hosting providers have highly reliable email service? The provider I have now has very good web hosting service but their email services tend to bitbucket far too much mail for comfort. Reliable delivery and reception for the half a dozen emails I might send/receive a day (it's a personal use site) is I hope not too much to ask without needing to pay and arm and a leg for the privilege.

Creating A High Traffic Hosting Setup
creating a setup that will host a site which is expected to receive 50-60K visitors in the first few hours after its launch. The site is membership based and the backend (member system) runs on PHP5-MySQL5. Here is what I have thought of until now. Site's sales page (which also happens to be the first page that visitors hit) hosted with Amazon S3 service. All public media files are off loaded to amazon S3 service to keep the number of requests on the hosted setup to minimum. At the front we can have a high performance firewall like Cisco ASA 5520 followed by two dedicated load balancers in Active/Active state. Behind the load balancers we have 3 front end servers acting as web-servers. These have SAS disks, 4GB RAM, RAID 1 setup, Dual Xeon Quad core processors each. Behind the front end servers - we have a dedicated load balancer for the database cluster. The database cluster consists of 3 Storage/API nodes and one of the front end servers acts as the management node. Each storage node has 8GB RAM, Dual Xeon Quad core processors, 4x RAID 10, SAS setup. The private network is on a GigaLan. Do you see any possible/obvious flaw in this design or anything that should be added/subtracted from the setup?

High Traffic Hosting Solution (dedicated Server?)
I'm working on launching this online store for a poster designer, and we're becoming more and more aware that we need a really robust and fast server. This site is looking at extremely high levels of activity whenever this designer posts a new poster. We're talking 1700 people surfing the store (downloading med-high resolution poster images) and 300 posters sold in 16 seconds kind of thing. So, we need a really robust hosting, to work with PHP5 and MYSQL. My previous go-to hosting provider was Lunarpages, but their customer service has gone down the crapper, and I've just about had it with them. My main questions are: Should I be looking into getting a dedicated server, or are there hosting companies that can handle this kind of traffic on a shared server? I don't have experience administrating a server, so if we got a dedicated one we would have to pay the host to do at least some of the setup/administration, I would assume? Dedicated server or not, what's a hosting company that has really good customer service, where we can be assured of getting somebody knowledgeable without having to wait on hold for 20 (or even 10) minutes?

Hosting With Un(limited) Bandwidth
I've always used German hosts because they are much cheaper than my homeland Greek alternatives, the latency (70ms Germany vs 30ms Greece) is bearable. Until recently I used Strato single cpu dedicated servers, which allowed me 2000gb at 100mb/s. Although I came close, I never actually reached that 2000gb allocation. Ever since moving to 1und1 (to a quad core) the server's speed difference has attracted more visitors and pageviews. Now my bandwidth usage has gone to 3000gb per month and at peak it requires 20-30mb/s. The problem is that 1und1 limits you to 10mb/s if you go over 1000gb, and then requires 'resetting' it every 250gb in order to get back to 100mb/s speed. Does anyone know of a european host that offers truly unlimited bandwidth? Every time I hit the 10mb/s limit, my pageviews go down, users leave the site. I've contemplated writing a simple heartbeat script that polls the control panel every 5 minutes and checks if the limit has been crossed, at which it will automatically reset it for me.

Premium Hosts With High-End Powerful Shared Hosting
Im a webdesigner so when looking for hosting i try to find one that is simple to manage, hardware powerful, lots of ready to install scripts and a beautiful webmail like Atmail or Zimbra. So im looking for a powerful / quality high end "shared" hosting package. Until now i have looked at: - Mediatemple (as @mail, exelent support but slow in Europe) - Mosso (is always good to be powered by rackspace but i think that the cloud hosting concept is still unsstable. Any experience? - SimpleHelix (realy fast magento demo store, lots of scripts, @Mail and seems to have a fast network to europe) So any advices on premium shared hosting? An in Europe, any company similar to mediatemple or simplehelix? Budjet: up to 100 $
