I couldn't keep my mouth shut (technically fingers). A customer wanted to upgrade servers and he needed a way to move the data across. Since I don't allow hard drives to be swapped, they have to do it manually all by themselves. I generally allow up-to 4 days for them to transfer data and make DNS changes, etc. But this time, I offered help! I agreed to move the data (darn me) and it just came out of me, involuntarily.
God knows what just happened... but in a positive way, customer is extremely happy!
So...
Both servers are on cPanel - with root access (duh)
200 odd files which total to 25 GB
1 database about 100 MB in size (no biggie)
I was planning on using one of my Windows 2003 servers (via remote desktop) to download the 25 GB and upload the 25 GB, but that sounds like a waste of resources and time.
I have 2 domains under the SAME vps, and just want to copy all the folders under one domain to the other. I don't want to download them and re-upload them as there are way too many. Is there an easy way to copy a select amount of folders in another way from one account to another? (I don't want to copy the entire account, just certain folders).
What are our options for a secure and easy way to transfer files from our dedicated windows 2003 server to our local server? We want to create a job that transfers files twice a day from our dedicated server to our local machine.
I have 2 cPanel servers with root access and I want to move a reseller account (and about 100 very small domain accounts under it) to the other server. What is the best way to do this and how would be the process ? I guess there is an easier way to migrate it rather than by moving individual domain accounts.
I have just FTP'd my code files onto my hosts server and i'm not sure whether i need the files in the root of the htdocs folder or whether i can leave them in my folder called website within htdocs...? the structure looks like this atm: htdocs->website->[all of my php files]
also... do i need an index.html file or is index.php ok? atm i am getting a 403 error when i try to connect,
Has anybody ever come across a server problem, where the file is visited (e.g. domain.com/sub/file.html or domain.com/sub/file2.php) it attempts to download the file automatically as apposed to displaying the page?
I'm writing a .Net app using SQL server, and so I'm looking for a Windows server hosting. Do they provide things like Remote Desktop and what not? Because on some of my tables, I have to be able to login and give permissions to users and things of that sort.
Can we see some hosts come forward, whom support Magento and they have servers in any part of Europe? (I already know about the wiki Magento-Hosts list but I do not think that list can keep itself up to date). So including that list but not limited to. Let's see our own list now.
after upgrading from 11.5. to 12.0.18 all web Hosts which are using asp or aspx files are not working anymore.

If we try to repair the Installation with the reconfigurator "Plesk virtual Hosts Security" the program is crashing.
This is a random question and I wasn't sure exactly where to start. But, I have developed some invoice software that use a few PHP modules. My host has these enabled by default, but I wanted to see if most hosts have these enabled or not. Heck, they might even by standard php configuration, I'm just not sure. Here they are:
I was wondering if there's any web hosts that offer 3D graphics cards in their hosted dedicated servers? they don't have to be that great of 3D graphics cards just better graphics than the normal video cards that they usually put in them?
I have a handful of short-term projects that require me to have webspace on servers in France, Germany, and Spain. Unfortunately, I don't know any European languages other than English.
Can anyone suggest web hosts with servers in France, Germany, or Spain that are friendly to English-speakers? That is, a website with an English-translated interface and ideally billing/support in English.
I have tried copy files from Linux server to Windows Server using WinSCP3 and it was so fast.
I am not sure who to copy files as well from Windows to Windows with same speed. I tried to use RDC between the Windows Servers and share one drive. But it wasn't fast as WinSCP3.
I was in the market for a new dedicated server after a couple of years with my previous provider. The previous provider did nothing wrong but they were no longer competitive when it came to CPU and memory.
I moved first to geekrack. And I left them after a week and a half as they never were able to get my rDNS records setup.
I found Universal Hosts on this forum and gave them a shot. I had asked for an operating system that they didn't offer normally (Debian 64 bit) and they said that they could do it. However, when my server was setup it was 32 bit Debian instead. They apologized and had Debian 64 bit setup less than 24 hours later.
When I asked them to get rDNS records setup it took a few hours but they were setup correctly and they worked.
Universal Hosts is also a BurstNet reseller but compared to my other attempt at using a BurstNet reseller they are fantastic. While the initial config was incorrect they worked quickly to fix it and were very professional about it.
So after two weeks - so far so good. Keep up the good work UniHosts!
I am running Apache2.2, PHP5.I have been running with virtual hosts on a Windows 7 environment fine for a couple of years successfully, but have just had to move to a Windows 8 environment. It looks like Apache and PHP have installed and are working fine, but my Virtual hosts are now not being recognised. From what I can tell, it is the Windows 8 hosts file that is having a problem, as it looks as though it is now just setup to Block websites.
If I make the host file just have the one line127.0.0.1 localhost entry, then the very first Virtual Host from my apache config file will come up, but the rest are not found. If I put the usual 127.0.0.1 mywebsite.name aliasname is appears as though my website works momentarily and then is blocked..
Recently I stumbled along a host on here with a good rep and that uses direct admin.
Because they were very nice on the live support I signed up to see what direct admin was like.
Its very diferent from cpanel. Some parts seem to be harder to use like the phpmyadmin requires the username and password to the database you created not the control panel username and password like cpanel. Although I guess that could be a good security feature just in case some one gets into the control panel they can not get into the phpmyadmin, then again if they are smart and were able to get into the control panel they could get into ftp and look what the username and password is on the config file for the script you are using.
The bandwidth meter seems to be better in direct admin although I think its acting up for me as its putting yesterdays bandwidth on todays. I was told by the host that it updates every 2 hours and at first it did but now its gone to every day. Oh and unlike cpanel this bandwidth meter includes bandwith used by the control panel.
Niether one from what I can tell counts sftp though at least for the hosts I have right now.
I am having some issues here. I had a reseller account and decided to go to a dedicated box. My question is, what would be the easiest way to transfer all the account over.
I do not have root access on the resellers account so it is making it kind of difficult.
I did some research and found a way I think you can do but please correct me if I am wrong.
Can it be done by going under my dedicated roots access and clicking on the "transfer an account from another server using password"?
Also, Would I have to wait until all files are transfered to set my custom nameservers IP addy.
I have a simple forum w/o content. I created this just to test my design and skin... I have some tests posts with around 5 tests members..
Now I don't want the subdomain where it is hosted. I created another subdomain.. can I transfer all the files on the different subdomains with having any problem???
I want to do this because I don't to reinstall and reconfigure again the pages / if I am going to install a new Vb..
One of my sites is currently hosted on an IIS server. It has an SSL certificate that the host has setup and they've placed a .PFX file for that certificate in my root directory.
I would like to transfer that site to my new server that runs cPanel/WHM. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? Do I require the co-operation of my previous (IIS) host to do it, or can I do it on my own? And is there a simple way to do it since I have cPanel/WHM installed?
I am trying to transfer a customer account from a remote server (both servers run Cpanel) and I get this error message
Logged to my server I got this message

how can I transfer this account, I jsut have the customer password and Cpanel backups are not availables?
I currently have a domain at Network Solutions and I am going to transfer that domain to Godaddy. I also have 2 nameservers that I am running associated with that domain (ns1.mydomain.com & ns2.mydomain.com) that are also registered with Network Solutions.
My question is what happens to those nameservers when the transfer takes place? Will Network Solutions remove them from their database at that time? My concern is when the transfer happens there will be no nameservers registered at Godaddy and my sites will be down. Anyone know how that works?
I have agreed to update website A (with url A) on host A. Both are rubbish.
I would like to build the new site with host B for various reasons (essentially I want / need more than one 50Mb database).
If I build the new site B on host B under a temporary URL, I'll then need to transfer the domain from host A to host B. So my questions are:
How easy is it to transfer url A to host B and to point to site B? What will happen to the approx. 70 email addresses on host A? Will I have to manually recreate them at host B and any emails stored on the server will be lost?
