Timeout Error Occured Trying To Start MySQL Daemon
May 10, 2007
I am getting the error (as listed in the title) on my server. This is a BRAND NEW FRESH install on a brand new server...
OS: Unix Fedora
Kernel Version: Kernel 2.6.18-1/2798.fc6 on an i686
Hardware Information: Brand new Dell SC1435 Server
Software Version: MySQl 5
Control Panel: Nothing yet
Apache starts ok but when I go to strart MySQL I get the following error...
[root@server112]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start
Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon
Starting MySQL: [FAILED]
Does anyone have any ideas?
I did some pretty extensive searching...
Web Hosting Talk article that basically describes the same error. I followed everything as listed in his suggestion and it didn't change anything.
I just installed mySQL server on a brand new dedicated server and am getting Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times and am still getting the same error.
I'm having a bit of trouble here with MySQL, I don't know what to do. Centos 4.3, Mysql 4.1
Data is stored in /var/lib/mysql/
I'm looking to move that information to a second hard drive soon, and did a quick test of just copying it to another place on my existing drive. It won't start.
Quote:

I am assisting a client who is linking to an online calculator, he is putting a frame on top of the calculator page, so people will still see his information. However, for some reason he is getting a Session Timeout Error in IE.
I don't get this error in Firefox using this method, or ever going to the direct page in IE.
Let me give a better explanation:
If you visit: [url]
Just put in a fake name and email, it loads a frame at top, and then the online calculator, which is this page: [url]
Why I am getting a Session Timeout? Is there a better solution. I never get the same error if I go directly too: [url]
We want a frame or better solution because we still want the contact information to be in front of the consumer.
Does this maybe have to do with a cookie and frame?
unfortunately my server crashes a lot recently. What happens is that some application creates a MySQL connection which hangs and then MySQL gets overloaded and takes the whole server down.
My question:
1. How do I configure MySQL to time out even on active connections ? I.e. after 30 seconds kill the process no matter if it is still active or not. Is that possible ?
I'm hosting about 6 private websites on my server, and some have problems.
My biggest website is a vb forum with 30.000 members and 1.5 million posts.
When i browse with firefox i see that vb forum loads fast, but phpads which is integrated on the top and footer loads very slow. When i browse with IE, it takes like 10 seconds before the whole site is loaded and sometimes IE even crashes.
When i try to login on another website / admin panel (oscommerce), i get a mysql gone away error, that means timeout. But why does it show that? I ran mysqlreport and can't find anything why it should display mysql gone away. # ./mysqlreport MySQL 5.0.15-standard uptime 3 19:36:47 Mon Feb 5 11:08:10 2007

As I read, when Plesk and WHMCS are in the same server, you may have 502 bad gateway errors when creating an account through WHMCS..Page not Found/Timeout/502 Bad Gateway error creating accounts with Plesk 10+..By default Plesk 10 and above performs a forced restart of apache when an account is created or suspended which causes WHMCS to lose connection to the server, and if your WHMCS is on the same server, you will also lose connection to WHMCS at the same time.
In order to resolve this please refer to the following knowledgebase article for instructions on configuring Plesk to perform a graceful restart instead: URL..
But when I activate nginx in Plesk the 502 bad Gateway problem comes back.Is there an option to activate Nginx graceful restart in Plesk?

have googled this to death. solutions are not working.
so far have tried the whole linking mysql.sock to the file in /tmp, changing mysql root password, rebooting, adding socket parameters in my.cnf. nothing works!

What command could I use to see all the currently running services on my Windows (vista) computer?
I'm trying to start my MySQL server, but it won't start. I think I know what the problem is though I'm not sure. I think that the service name "MySQL" is already running...and I need to remove it or something.
Btw...my apache and php is fine. Though...I cannot use my MySQL from php obviously...since it's not running.
I have a perplexing error that I can't figure out. I'm running a server using Sun Web Server 7 and PHP 5.x, and have been doing so since late October 2007. Now, just recently - in the past month and a half - I've seen an exponential increase in server 500 errors, specifically "stub start" errors. Google has very little at all to return on stub start errors, and looking into the Sun documentation has been fruitless too. So i'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with such errors or can give me any tips on what to try next. The weird thing is that the 500 errors tend to happen in spikes - 5,000 of them will happen within a 10 minute span, and then back down to normal levels.
I have a cheap managed server and support is of little help BUT they will do what I tell them, where should I tell them to start to fix high mysql load?
The server currently has a large IPB forum, a large 4images gallery, and a couple popular Wordpress blogs, and this combo keeps taking mysql down.
What can I do server side to help this? And what shouldn't I do?
Can anyone recommend a Apached and MYSQL optimization expert? I just some optimization done on mysql and apache upgraded... but pache wouldn't restart with the following entries:
if i remove above then it starts... but my CPU spikes and I am getting a ton of errors emailed to me:
Invalid SQL: SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT(userid)) AS count FROM vb_session WHERE vb_session.userid>0 AND vb_session.lastactivity>1245294346;

Its constantly complaining about this same query and i thought i removed all of the vbulletin options...
i am pulling my hair out... cuz my server isn't swapping, ther are 0ver 8GBs in cache.... but my CPU goes up
