servers for a freehosting project and came across a good quote on some dual quad core amds for $320 a month. Is this about right? I don't want to give the exact location away as this was a custom quote but it's located in chicago. The network is Internap FCP optimized with internap, level3, and comcast.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Intel Dual Xeon Quad Core Clovertown versus the AMD Dual Core Dual Opteron? I'm assuming the Xeon is better. I recently put in an order for one, and I'm hoping I made the right decision (Yes I know it would have made more sense to ask before ordering but that's not how I roll) .
I'm thinking in changing my actual dedicated server, but I'm not sure if I will win with the change.
I use it for web hosting, but I am going to need a lot of Mysql use.
I also want to work with Flash Media Server or Red5, but I have the project stopped.
All are almost in the same price. What do you recommend me? I have never touched Linux and my Server is Windows 2003, do you recommend me to change to Linux?

This is for a web/application server running, Windows 2003 Server Professional, IIS, MySQL, MSSQL 2005 Express, Plesk 8.5. The price is about the same.
If you have experience with large mysql databases please share your thoughts about a new MySQL server. If all other parameters are the same, what is better for a 6-10 GB MySQL db, dedicated server?
Dual XEON or Dual Opteron 2212 Dual Core Processor?
Also, any advice on suggested RAM, partitioning, OS, etc. are welcome. Current MySQL version used is 4.1.21.

I'm considering putting together a new set of servers...
My primary goal is to have IPMI and 16GB of 32GB of RAM in a system. I'm wanting lower-cost systems. I don't need a ton of CPU or anything special on disk (2 SATA is all I really need).
My previous generation of systems was PDSMI+ with 8GB RAM and they have been working great... but time to see if I can put together some budget 16GB of 32GB servers.
Anyone have some combos of motherboard + RAM to recommend?
(I'm open to Tyan or other server motherboards, even AMD or Intel)
I want to colo dual xeon 3ghz/ 2 x 250 sata drive and Dual core 3.0 / 2 x250 Sata drive.
How much amp these server need? One colo company said 4amp for dual and 2 for dual core. Do I need 6amp for 2 servers? Rack comes with 15amp so I need half rack?
Now I'm a little new to RAID5, I've always used RAID10 or RAID1, but I am looking into RAID5 for my new server.
Tell me which you think would be more beneficial, I know RAID10 is faster for writing and copying which is what is needed for SWAP but I also know that RAM is a lot faster than SWAP.
8GB RAM 2GB SWAP Partition 4x250GB RAID5
7GB RAM 3GB SWAP Partition 6x250GB RAID10
or
8GB RAM 2GB SWAP Partition 3x400GB RAID5
Is 3 drives or 4 drives faster in a RAID5? I know 4 drives would probably read faster but would copying and writing be slower?
