Reselling VPS - With Server Access/instant Setup
Dec 31, 2008if its possible to find a VPS reseller that allows you access to their HyperVM or Xen installation, soo you can add/remove/update accounts instant with out going through their management system ?
I really think this type of service has potenial, if its possible to do this in a safe way and low cost.

Jun 19, 2008Is there any recommended hosts that offer Dedicated Server with Virtuozzo License. What are the things to look for when choosing a provider for VPS offering. What is the recommended hardware for average VPS hostings.
I remember The Planet used to offer Dedicated Servers with Virtuozzo license a few years back but I couldn't find this information anymore there. Who are the lead players for dedicated servers for VPS currently in the industry?

Oct 26, 2008Sister company recently asked me to start offering VPS reseller accounts as part of our product range but after researching how other companies are doing this, i fear i may have gotten this wrong.
My thinking on the VPS reselling process was as such, like a reseller account, as in, the customer buys a chunk of space/ram/bandwidth and then cuts it up into however they like and sells it at profit.
However, i have realised this is not the case with other companies, they give you a discount per how many VPS's you order, or do the whole affiliate referral scheme.
We have the "advantage" of using HyperVM where we can setup clients to have a certain amount of ram/clients/ip's/bandwidth/disk space, hell, they can even setup vps's accross different nodes. Im sorry if this sounds like a sales post, the main part im trying to get at is, why do others companies not provide this? Am i missing an important security issue?

Beacuse of this I am interested in vps resell. I need a few things:
I will handel support,
The sever will have to be unbranded, no way of the client knowing it is a resold server,
Windows OS.
I am looking to buy from the provider at around these prices:
512mb ram, 20gb HDD, 300gb bandwith - $20 per month
256mb ram, 10gb HDD, 200gb bandwith - $10 per month

Dec 4, 2007I've noticed a lot of VPS hosts that use other control panels besides cpanel, but what I'm looking to do is get a reseller account and have WHM/Cpanel on it. I haven't seen a host offer to install this for me when setting up the VPS, are there any companies that do this?

May 26, 2007I just contacted support at my current VPS provider about an issue I had when setting up a reseller account and here the (partial) reply I received.

Supposedly the server is a Dual Xeon 3.0ghz with 2mb cache, 8gb RAM, 15,000 RPM SCSI drives in RAID 5 and hotswap, triple redundant power supplies and it can't handle reselling? WTF?
I'm not even actually reselling as the reseller account I setup was for my wife so that she can manage her own domains!
I think the VPS package maybe a rip anyways at $114/month:
20 GB HD, 2048 MB (384 MB Guaranteed), 300GB/Month, Cpanel w/ WHM, Full Management, Monitoring, Root Access, Daily Backup
The only reason I even am using this particular host is that I used to have a dedicated with them and was looking to downsize due to some cash-flow problems.

May 17, 2009I am looking on reselling VPS packages, i have had a look around and the prices seem very high and the commission they offer is quite low.
Preferably would like sell US and EU vps packages, so a company who does have datacentres in both continents will be ideal.

Jul 5, 2007I currently have a series of websites hosted with HostGator. The thing is, having a series of shared hosting plans starts to add up after a while. What I was considering was purchasing a reseller account (which will save us about $15/month) and then just hosting all our websites from there, obviously, not reselling the plans, just using them internally. For the savings, it seems like a logical thing to do. When we purchased shared plans, I bought bigger plans than we need, expecting the sites to grow (which some have, others have not).
Has anyone done this? Do you suggest it? Would there be a better way than buying a reseller account (We can't afford a dedicated server quite yet)?

Feb 18, 2007I currently run 16 boxes which I rent from various data centers, mark-up and resell. Conventional wisdom says that it's time for me to start colocating my own servers. I've got approval for capital (loan) so it's no problem for me to just buy these boxes and colo them. But... how the hell does anyone afford it?
I mean, I can get a cabinet in H.E. with 10Mbps burst to 100Mbps for $600/mo (through EGI). Which is an insanely good deal until you realize that it only includes 15amps of power. So (I think) that means that I can really only run about 15 or 20 Celerons at the most. So much for filling up the rack.
Optimistically, if I can run 20 Celerons which I've priced at about $700 each including shipping -- plus a switch, KVM, spare parts and bank interest over 24 months -- that's about $800/mo for the servers plus $600 for the cab, plus about $200/mo for remote hands in case I need the DC guys to do something. I'm looking at about $80/mo per server which I have to pay whether it's rented or not.
I can easily find celerons for $80/mo which include some level of support and I can very easily cancel whenever my client does and buy a fresh new one whenever I get a new client.
I was all excited to go colo -- but the numbers don't add up. What am I missing here? What's the big advantage to all the extra hassle of owning your own?

May 8, 2007I've got a VPS which is serving as the main server for a number of sites. Web Server, SSH Server, and Mail Server.

One of the sites is a growing forum with a MASSIVE photo album. This is the site where I notice the most slowness.

Plesk 11.x / Windows :: Don't Have Root Access To Server As It Is A Webfusion Dedicated Server
Oct 16, 2013I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??
Urchin 5 / Google A . Transfering From Server To Server (Serial Already Activated)
Nov 21, 2006I am currently running Google Analytics/Urchin 5 (v5.7.02), on a server, the server has started to act up, (on its last legs etc) and now I am trying to transfer the Urchin Software to a new server, where it would work effectively.
However upon installing the urchin software on the new server and running it (localhost:9999), I am presented with An Action Items Page, and these following choices
Obtain Demo License
Buy License
Activate Pre-Purchased License
I choose ‘Activate Pre-Purchased License’ pop in the Serial number and complete the registration then…

Does anyone have experience with this or a similar problem or have a solution to this problem. Any help be most appriciated.

Cpanel Domain Name Server (DNS) Setting For Email On 2 Seperate Server
Nov 7, 2009This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2.
However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2.
My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1?

The new server would not be accessible by hostname (only via IP) until DNS and glue records were changed after the migration.
