Plesk 12.x / Windows :: MSSQL - Unable To Backup Database Operating System Error 5
Mar 28, 2015
12.0.18 update #39
Server 2012r2
Logged into my panel today to run a database backup on a site I'm working on to be confronted with the following:
Unable to backup database 'XXXXXXXXXX'
Cannot open backup device 'C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskBackupXXXXXXXXX.co.nzdatabasesXXXXXXXXX-29 est'. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.).
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
(Error code 21)
I'm not sure why permissions would change on their own, I'm also not sure how to fix the permissions error. I get the same error on all databases.
PrivateTemp folder appears to have write permissions for Group MSSQLSERVER
when i try to make backup of mssql 2012 on plesk 11.5 i have the following error:Error: dbbackup failed: Unable to backup database 'DBANME'. Unable to open connection: A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.i already configured temp/network directory,
I have Plesk 12 on Windows Server 2012 and SQL 2014 Express, and I am unable to add the SQL server to Plesk. It looks like it is waiting for a long time for something, then I get this error:
Get database server version failed: mssqlmng failed: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (Error code 1)Click to expand...
I restored some some databases outside of Plesk in a MSSQL 2008 instance. Plesk knows about the MSSQL intance but is not aware of the databases. I want to add them to Plesk so they will be backed up.
I'm having a problem with Plesk Panel 11.0.9 update #64. All other page running perfect. But when I go to "Backup Manager --> Database Backup Repository --> Upload Backup File" then Plesk Panel show error: Internal Server Error 500.0.
to get a dedicated sql server 2005 box and am not sure the best operating system. These are my choices:
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise - 32 bit Windows Server 2003 Enterprise - 64 bit Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise - 32 bit Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise - 64 bit
This is the server I'm thinking of getting - Dual Woodcrest Series - SATA Dual Intel Woodcrest 5130 Dual Core Processors 2 x 500GB Hard Drive 4096 MB RAM
Currently, I have my IIS web server and sql server 2005 on the same machine and it's just too bogged down. That one runs windows 2003 standard 32 bit on a Dual Xeon 2.8GHz Processor 2 x 80GB Hard Drive 4096 MB RAM
I have read about people wanting to change their database from MSSQL to MySQL. I however am wanting to change from MySQL to Microsoft SQL in our Plesk panel.
I have vps server with win server 2008 and Plesk 11.5.30. when i am trying to copy Mssql Database trough the panel i have an error: " Unable to copy database ". In the %plesk_dir%adminlogs under the php-error.log i have this error:
I installed plesk win 12 with mssql2012 , but nobody as abale to restore DB via plesk we recive this error Error: dbbackup failed: Unable to restore database 'degardis'Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 29.the backup file is restored straight via sql management studio.
Unable to restore database '17' Not valid backup: Cannot open backup device 'C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskBackupclub-panel.irdatabases171.bak'. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.). VERIFY DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
(Error code 22) ---------------------- Debug Info -------------------------------
My Plesk backup doesn't work properly. I constantly get the error "dump file has wrong format".I followed the steps in "How to verify an invalid Plesk backup file" [URL] .... and found the following:
No matter what I do (updating settings, saving, etc.), the error keeps coming back. Seems like a database inconsistency. How can I access the Plesk DB through PhpMyAdmin to check the notifications table? When I go to Settings > Database servers > Local MySQL server > Webadmin, I only see my customers' databases.
Every time a backup task finishes (full server or a single domain) i get the following error:
The operation you were performing failed. You can retry the operation with or without changing its parameters. You may also want to report this problem to our support.

Trying to restore a database in plesk 11 I got the following error.
Error: dbbackup failed: Unable to restore database 'database_name'Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
There is no wrong with the db, when I restore from it on local machine everything works.
I have a problem with restore ms sql server 2008 database after restoring the message...Error: Unable to creste database user: Database user name is invalid. Only latin letters are allowed in the database user nameerror
I'm unable to access my plesk control panel .its giving this error "Unable to read Control Panel configuration file";tried all available solution for permissions but the problem remains.
There's bloody heaps of them. Which one do I go for on my two new file servers? Which operating system out of these is the most common, has the most support, is most compatible? The server will be used to host videos and will run c-panel. A light weight OS is probably preferred but I really have no idea. And incase it helps, the servers have 512mb of ram, about 30 - 40GB of hDD (not actually sure) and an old AMD Duron.
CentOS Debian Direct Admin Fedora FreeBSD Gentoo LiveCD Redhat Slackware
We have Panel Plesk 11.5.30 in Windows 2008 R2. when you go to File Sharing in all the Subscriptions, appears this error: Internal error: Unable to access File Sharing repository with the system user name "admin": wrong username or password
This happen since we do the update to the new version 11.5.30 ...
I have always used debian on my virtual machine but was just curious as to what OS people use for their hosting?
The company I am looking at moving to for hosting offer the following options: * Debian * Ubuntu Server * Open Suse * Free BSD * Fedora Core * CentOS * Gentoo * Slackware * Windows 2003 Basic * Windows 2003 Pro
I have heard from a lot of people that Freebsd is good for hosting but just wondering what your views are
I'm trying to restore a 600MB database which was uploaded to the repository in plesk. This database backup did NOT originate from this server, but rather I'm attempting to overwrite a blank database that was created with the same name via plesk.
The site is one of our web-spaces (not a customer subscription) so I am logged in as the plesk administrator.
System Info: Plesk 11.5 Windows 2008 R2 (64Bit) 3GB RAM MySQL 5.1
Full Error: dbbackup failed: Unable to restore database 'databasename' Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
I have tried altering the php.ini the PHP settings of the site (even though I'm logged in as the adminsitrator) as well as the php.ini of: C:ParallelsPleskadminphp.ini
memory_limit=2048M
It fails with the error after about 1GB of RAM usage on the server.
Without having all of the operating systems at my disposal for testing, I would like to figure out a way to determine the operating system of a remotely accessed Linux machine.
It seems pretty strange though, since cPanel reports both machines I am using as being
CENTOS Enterprise 4.5 i686, yet one's uname -a reports:
Code: Linux hostsentry.crucialwebhost.com 2.6.9-023stab044.4-enterprise #1 SMP Thu May 24 17:41:23 MSD 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Code: Linux main.7kb.org 2.6.9-55.0.6.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Sep 4 21:36:00 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm assuming there is a way to determine the OS from this information. Anyone know how?
I have been online since 95 and I've got a lot of information I could help others with regarding web development and interface design.
One thing I'm terrible at is System Administration, but I'm getting better and my first step is to pick a reliable operating system for both the webservers and the database servers. Would anyone be willing to answer the following questions or point me to a thread that already discusses these?
A little background, our site has 200k members, 30k active and is growing by about 5k a week. We still run MySQL 4.0.27 on the DB servers and they are running FC2. The webservers are Apache 1.3.37 and PHP 4.4.2 running FC2 and FC4 as well.
My questions
1. What OS would you prefer to upgrade to for the web servers? and a "few" reasons why?
2. What OS would you prefer to upgrade to for the database servers? and a "few" reasons why?
