I use Nas to manage the customer site folder.
So the folder directory will be "as1webhostxxx" this format
I found that plesk panel default directory is inetpubvhosts

I am running Apache2.2, PHP5.I have been running with virtual hosts on a Windows 7 environment fine for a couple of years successfully, but have just had to move to a Windows 8 environment.It looks like Apache and PHP have installed and are working fine, but my Virtual hosts are now not being recognised. From what I can tell, it is the Windows 8 hosts file that is having a problem, as it looks as though it is now just setup to Block websites.
If I make the host file just have the one line127.0.0.1 localhost entry, then the very first Virtual Host from my apache config file will come up, but the rest are not found.If I put the usual 127.0.0.1 mywebsite.name aliasname is appears as though my website works momentarily and then is blocked..
Ok so I just installed apache 2.2 on windows server 2008.
I would like to set it up so if I go to 99.144.79.25(Server IP) I get index1.html. If I go to example.com which points to 99.144.79.25 I get index2.html. If I go to example3.com which points to 99.144.79.25 I get index3.html.
So kind of like, if the domain folder is not found on my server, give the page index1.html.
In the long run I want to run a bunch of sites with different domains, testing right now though.

There is no *:80 anywhere and still when I go to any vhost it always load the main one.
What else do I need to check?
I installed a new certificate, made it default, assigned it to the shared ip address and made the plesk panel use it.
The problem is we have 200 virtual hosts using the old certificate. Is there a way to reconfigure all those domains easily.
How do we reset default permissions in virtual host directory in PPA.

I want to do this to make my test server just like the remote server.
i would like to move few clients from my old linux VPS that runs on Cpanel .. to my new windows VPS tat runs Plesk .. you see there were several attempts by new provider .. they cant guarantee that accounts can be fully migrated even manually they only copied site files to new server .. the client account's still running on linux vps cpanel, they are intact .. clients dont have any php or mysql files they are just plain HTML and Flash files .. i can move site files .. im concerned about mail accounts and emails that already in my clients inbox (they are using IMAP accounts) .. do you guys know any guideline or step by step how to migrate my clients
P.S. please consider me as an uneducated person .. my background is designing not programming or network administration.
I just had a thought. If I am moving from one host to the other, the old host would still have my files. Whats stopping them from just using the files to copy my site. Basically is there an easy way to delete my files from my old host?

I'm pretty sure a lot of people do this.
I guess from a webhosts persepctive, it will be quite annoying since they are banking on the fact that the person will stay with them after the initial year.
I've just migrated server to server but I didn't use the migration manager, I simply backed up each domain's content and restored those backups on the new server.
The issue I have run into is the scheduled tasks at the admin level (Tools & Settings > Scheduled Tasks) work but any schedule task under a domain do not. The scheduled tasks under the domains show as inactive (no green tick) and when I click to enable them, I get the following message
"Information: The scheduled task Google Product Feed Daily Scheduled Task was switched on."
If I then look at the page, even though the above message says it is, the scheduled task is still not enabled. Going into the scheduled task and switching it on there results in the same message, but it doesn't switch on.
How to rebuild all of the scheduled tasks within Plesk?

We are currently running a phpBB forum on Dreamhost shared hosting and have been getting a lot of Internal Server Errors, so it's time to move to a new host.
We generally have around 200-300 members online (within the last 30 mins). We are using around 2.8TB/month of bandwidth currently. We get around 135,000 visits per month and 470,000 pageviews.
Dreamhost use their own way of measuring database usage..

I have found a VPS package with directspace - 2x Intel Quad Core Xeon, 50GB Storage, 2Gb RAM, 2.5GB Burst Ram and 5TB of monthly bandwidth, for $35/month.
Is this likely to be an adequate solution for our needs? We would be running both the database and web services for phpBB from this box.
Also, can anyone give any hints on the best (and most seamless way) to migrate? I'm thinking that we'll get the new host to install all the services and get the box up and running, then I can ftp the files to the new server and export/import the databases. Then perform a (301?) redirect on the old host, pointing to the new IP address until the DNS is updated.

If we try to repair the Installation with the reconfigurator "Plesk virtual Hosts Security" the program is crashing.
I have example.com as a reseller account hosted on a shared server. I have ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com on that server and client domains use these nameservers.
I want to move to a VPS for more control and so I have acquired vps.example.com. This also has vps_ns1.example.com and vps_ns2.example.com with it.
Can I move everything to the VPS? Assuming that I move the files over, if I simply changed the DNS of example.com to point to nameservers vps_ns1(and 2).example.com, what would happen?
Have I made it over complicated for me to understand, and it's actually a lot easier than I think? Or have I shot myself in the foot by using vps.example.com as the name for the VPS?
I am using cPanel/WHM for both servers.
I'm in the process of moving some websites between hosts... from Dreamhost to a VPS.
Basically I want to make sure that no emails get lost in the transfer, as it's possible some people haven't collected their emails. I'm only talking about 5 or 6 sites here with about 15 mailboxes in total.
I have pop3 set up on the VPS with exim4 and courier using Maildir's. I have imap/pop3 access to emails on dreamhost and all my clients only use pop3.
Dreamhost doesn't provide direct access to the Maildir's of users, so I was planning on using offlineimap to save a copy of each mailbox and move it into the Maildir of the user on the VPS. I.e. move the contents of INBOX/new into user/Maildir/new etc. I'll do this once the dns settings have propogated so I can be sure to have every single email.
Does this sound reasonable? Is anything likely to break? Will any email clients break with any of these transferred emails? I tried it with a test account and it seemed OK, but I would like an experts opinion on whether or not this is the best way of achieving what I'm trying to do

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 11.5.30 and no new FTP accounts work. All I get when trying to connect is 530 User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible. I have run the command:

removed and added the user again repairing in between. I have manually tried creating the user folder under default/6/localuser/username and setting permissions. I have checked the local windows account and the home directory is fine.
All old accounts create previously work fine. I could at least connect on the master FTP site with the local user folder but then it was read only.

But after I executed sysprep plesk panel didn't work.

I am hosted by iPowerWeb and they have been causing MANY problems with their customers and of course, I am one of them. My site has been down for nearly 5 days.
I went to hostjury.com and they are now offering to move iPowerWeb customers to Hostgator, Hostican, or Site5 for free. But my question is: are they reliable and trustworthy?
Also, what hosting company do YOU guys recommend?
I don't know why, but only one server with Plesk 12 if i create additional ftp accounts not working. i receive error:

I just have a question about an Apache 2.0 error. I am running a web host and I am using VHCS for my web hosting control panel which creates virtual hosts in Apache's config files. Whenever I have a certain number of virtual hosts (200 or more roughly) Apache will start giving me problems with no messages about what went wrong. Some examples of what Apache does is that it will crash when I run "apache2ctl restart" or it just won't run when I start it sometimes. It really annoys me since I'm wondering if it's an Apache memory issue. Any ideas on what to do or how to solve this dilemma?

I'm aware that millions of websites using shared hosting are configured with name based virtual hosting.
I'm just wondering now how name based vhosts could be a disadvantage for hosting our websites?
Currently we have a static IP address for each website, apache configured with vhosts for each of these IP Addresses.
I was thinking about re-configuring to name based vhosts, use up less IP Addresses and only have one or two for domains to point to per server.
Is there anything I should know about name based vhosts?
Currently I know of the following issues:
- I can't setup SSL (I don't think?) without a unique IP, but this doesn't matter to me.
- Apache may be making DNS lookups?
This post may seem a bit silly overall, I doubt there is anything important to note about name based vhosts, but just wanted to know if anyone knew something I should know.
Our current ip based vhost setup works, but it would be nice to drop usage on all of those IP Addresses and we have no need for IP address access from browsers and whatnot.
I seem to be experiencing slower bw throughput in speedtests on my server today on a domain that is on a shared ip as a virtualhost in apache 2.2.x on fedora core 6.
Right now this domain is pushing somewhere around 35Mbits out and 1Mbit in.
When I d/l from this domain I see pausing and overall performance is roughly 1/2 of what it was yesterday (400K/sec versus ~800K yesterday), when the site was only doing about 3Mbits.
However, another domain on this same server that is not on a shared IP, when I test it, I get my usual 100% d/l speed.
My server is not under heavy load, .02, .06, .00 with 95% idle cpu.
I'm just wondering, should sites with high bw use definitely have their own IP, as shared/virtual hosting is known to cause slowness?
I have a little trouble with my Apache configurations. I have two computers with Ubuntu and Apache 2.2 - let's call them Home (192.168.1.2) and Server (192.168.1.3) connected with a router. I am working on Home, connecting to Server via ssh and mounting the web root directory of Server to Home via sshfs -> Server's /var/www becomes Home's /home/username/www. The problem is I can't really setup my Apache virtual hosts. I have a project in Server's /var/www/project, respectively Home's /home/username/www/project, and I want to create a virtual host on Home that lets me view the remote contents.
This is what I am adding to Home's /etc/hosts: 192.168.1.3 project
This is what I am adding to Home's /etc/apache2/sites-available/project:

After all this, when I open http://project/ in Home's browser, I just see the default apache page of Server (the one in /var/www).
I am messing with Apache at home and have managed to create virtual hosts with no problems, my next step was to produce a self signed SSL cert. which again has worked but it's redirecting my non-SSL virtual host to the host I have set-up for SSL for example:
- www.mysite1.com set-up with SSL and works as designed both http and https
- www.mysite2.com I don't want using SSL is working fine through http but if you try https it will then redirect to www.mysite1.com
