POP3 Not Working On Outlook
I've found today that my outlook can't download email messages from server. I thought it was a mail server but the messages are there when I look through webmail.
For 48 hours I didn't receive any email in outlook and I was alerted today by my customers since they don't receive anything too. The strange thing is that outlook runs normally. It doesn't display any error: just doesn't download any messages from inbox. I have my customers complaining BAD service (about 80 customers on that VPS). It was working and now it isn't...
I opened a support ticket to my provider (jaguarpc.com) but they are taking toooooo long to solve it and their answers are ineffective - I think they are not giving the correct attention to this issue. As you know, email issues are big since online businesses rely on them.
I have another VPS with jaguarpc and pop3 is working fine...
If someone could give me a hint about this issue maybe I could solve it through cpanel or give that info to support.
By the way, IMAP works fine. Just POP3 doesn't work.

Email And Outlook
Ever since I had a OS reload, all the mail in Horde will show up as "read" after I use Outlook to fetch them. (Exaim is installed, Outlook is using POP3 to connect) Even mail that have never been opened in Outlook will show up as "read". Before this, the mail in Horde was never synchronized with Outlook. For example, if I read a piece of mail, it won't show up as read in Horde. Instead, it'll show up as "unread" until I read it using Horde. Now, it the mail in Horde seems to be synchronized with Outlook though Outlok keeps a copy on server even after deleting it locally (on the PC). I don't want that to happen because my other co-admin uses Horde and I use Outlook. It'll mess up the read/unread settings for each. I never changed any settings in Outlook so it must be some config on the server. Anyone have a clue where to change this setting so this behavior doesn't occur?

IMAP And Outlook Timeouts
I am having a user that is having issues with their IMAP accounts and Outlook timing them out. I have had them set the timeout in Outlook to the maximum of 10 minutes and it is still showing up occassionally. I have a dedicated server that is running Exim 4.2. I was hoping someone here had an idea on how I can either fix this on the Server side or the client side.

Outlook Email Sending
A few days ago Outlook Express refused to continue sending emails using my hosted account. It has been working fine for over three years now. I changed the software and used Thunderbird but it failed two. They just say that the mail server took much time and I should check the SMTP server. I even tried that from several computers and several connections. The response from the host is too slow (dislike their usual).

Outlook Etc Not Sending - Webmail Will
I have run a server for some time with no troubles. All of a sudden the server will not allow outlook, outlook express, eudora etc to send emails. I can connect and receieve emails fine, but sending is another matter. I get a connection timed out message when I attempt to connect and send emails. Sending email via Horde Webmail works 100% fine, it only seems to be when you send from a client side email app. what might be causing this, or where to start looking? My experience with Linux is very, very limited.

Weird Outlook Express
This has been happening for a while now, but it never really occurred to me to ask before. What happens is that Outlook Express will say "2 new message(s)" but I'll only have one. It doubles the number of messages I have - if I really have 4 then it'll say I have 8. Has anyone had this happen to them before? It doesn't seem to impact anything; it just displays the wrong number.

POP3 Blocking
I am hitting a limit on number of POP signons per hour imposed by my host. I host maybe 10 domains on this account and have 4 or 5 email addresses to monitor for each domain. If I check once every 15 minutes I run up against a limit on the number of POP3 signons permitted by my ip. Add this to having multiple mail clients behind a NAT router and I am beginning to have real problems. Does anyone else have this issue? Is my only workaround to forward all email to a single account or install a local mail server? Does 100 POP signons an hour from a single IP sound like a lot to anyone? Any advice?

POP3 Filtering
Even though I have temporarily installed Exchange Server on my dedicated server, I still am thinking about using POP3 instead, simply because of multiple email accounts and my outlook client can use multiple email accounts, and setup rules/filters to direct incoming emails to specific recepients to folders, which is what I want. Sure, in Windows I know how to set up POP3 BUT what security can I setup for POP3 email accounts? In addition, what about spam/filtering? How would I set that up to stop spam coming in?

POP3 And PHP
I've been having a problem with server the last two days. Yesterday, my server went offline from 2pm and I caught it at about 9pm and the hosting company fixed it within an hour or so. The named service configuration was messed up some how. Today, my server has been working correctly (except the part below). The emails are collecting on the server and I can view/compose/reply/etc on webmail, but both outlook and thunderbird aren't getting the messages and I'm not getting any connection errors. To fix this, I restarted exim (I didn't know if that was correct) and I notified my hosting company because it didn't fix the problem. They went in and restarted vm-pop3d and da-popb4smtp. Still no luck. Email still works on the server but not via outlook/thunderbird. Then, later today, my sever was VERY sluggish. I thought it might have been a DOS attack but they said that there was no evidence of it and so they looked at the processes and they said PHP was being a hog. Once the restarted httpd they said it returned to normal. I'm thinking I have a problem and I'm turning here to get some help. The server has been running, for the most part pretty well. However it went down on Feb 10, Mar 2, May 4 and May 14. I think that I need to optimize it a bit and I was wondering if anyone can please give me some advice to getting things running leaner and meaner? Also... Vista + Outlook 2003 = SPAM
I have a customer that relies heavily on her email (sends/receives about 200 emails each day). Last Friday we traded her Windows XP computer for a new Windows Vista system. Now since that time one of her main contacts is unable to receive any emails. She is able to receive messages from that contact but the replies are not received by the customer. I talked with the technical support group on the receiving end and they tracked it back and said that the emails are sitting in their spam filter. What change(s) were made that changed this trusted email account to a spam account just by upgrading to Vista? I ran the DNS Tools Spam tool and the domain and IP address is not listed in any database. The only thing that showed was something about the PTR not found in the domain record. Is this something that is required?

I have a customer who has a problem, today when he opened Outlook Express, it downloaded his new mails and deleted them automatically and also other mails, then when he clicked the "Trash" directory, it was empty. He checked if no one set rules, and the rules dialog is empty. He says his antivirus is up-to-date.

I have WHM with centos and I have a customer who needs to send large attachments of 25 or 30 mb, he uses webmail. So the question is... how do i increase the load time?... since i believe that is not a problem of data capacity... maybe his connection is too slow, and therefore he cant send large data. Can't View Emails From My Server In Outlook Or Thunderbird
I have a virtual dedicated server hosted with "Domains Priced Right" I have several domains hosted on the server with emails for each. I used to be able to view my emails in Outlook however recently I've been getting the error (0x80042108) 'Outlook cannot connect to incoming (POP3) email server' I've switched to thunderbird and still have the same problem. "Could not connect to the server mail.blahblah.com; the connection was refused." I have about 10 domains and I can't see the emails for any of them. I know the emails are there I can see them when I use webmail. I know thunderbird works because it can get email from gmail and my ISP. It just won't connect to the server and download them. Things worked in the past so I'm perplexed. I'm running Windows Vista and maybe a new update has caused a problem. It may be a firewall issue but I've had a look at that. Also I did do a clean up of some old drivers. I think it might be a dodgey email file.

Outlook Web Access Won't Let You Download Attchments
i am aware of the LVL 1 and 2 configuration files and they are configured right. My problem at the momment is the follow: When i am on the local network and try to download and attachment or save it to the HD i am able to do it. When i am on an external connection and try to do the same i am not able to do it and a message telling me that the attachment is blocked comes up if i try to open it in a new window. I did like to know if any one could help me out to configure and solve this issue. Thanks. I have my firewall configured to permit 443, certified ssl configure and the external access to OWA works fine but the attachment download, have i forgot to configure anything ? Server is running Exchange 2003 and it is one machine just for it behind a ISA firewall.

Outlook Autodiscover Requires A DNS Change
We host for a company that has its email on another server. Everything works fine with the DNS changes already made. However, Outlook has an autodiscover feature that requires an additional DNS entry and I am at a loss as to what record type to use. They had it set up on their old host as: autodiscover.lif?.com to point to "autodiscoverredirect003.in?.net" Does anyone know which record type to use for this?

Setting Up Email In Outlook With Cpanel Configurations
I'm having problems setting up email in Outlook with cpanel configurations. I've exhausted google trying to find an answer to this. Maybe someone here can help or has had a similiar problem. I've set up accounts in cpanel (eg: info @ example.com), have the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server as mail.example.com and I even checked off the "server required authentication" but I still can't receive emails. I changed the outgoing server to smtp.internetprovider.com and it still doesn't work. I get a prompt asking for Network Server Password and click ok with the login and password but it keep popping up.

Constantly Blocked On Pop3
I just setup a new pop account in Outlook 2007 and provided all the proper details as I have on other pop accounts I have setup. I am constantly getting blocked by the firewall on the server (CSF + LFD) and I am 100% positive I am using the right password. This happens every time I setup a new pop account and I don't know why. Email Hosting ... Just Need POP3
Email hosting... Just need POP3 I am looking for a good hosting solution for a client of ours. Requirements are quite simple. Need direction really on who to go for. We need:35 mailboxes Dedicated new IP address OK with POP3 service, no MS exchange hosting needed. Can work with Linux hosting as well. 50MB per mailbox space What we plan to do is create an MX record for the domain and point it to the provider. That would in turn point to the IP where all the mailboxes reside. The web hosting is already taken care of at a company called Host Depot based in Florida. Its that simple. I am having trouble looking for a good, trustworthy and reliable provider for this. Rackspace came back to us qouting $2.80 per mailbox per month but no dedicated IP. Also considered Enom but they are qouting $9.95 per mailbox. Looking forward to your recommendations. Any questions?

Setting Up Pop3 And Other General Qs
I received my login details to my new VPS last night and set up apache, php and mysql without any real problems. I'm looking to move my client websites away from Dreamhost to this VPS, but before I do so I need to figure out how to set up pop3. Specifically I need to set up pop3 accounts with exactly the same usernames and passwords as on Dreamhost so I don't have to phone my clients up and walk them through configuring Outlook again! So, I'd to be able to log into pop3 with either m123456 (random number) or 'email@domain.com'. This way I'll be able to set it all up and then just flick the dns record over to the vps Can anyone recommend a way of doing this?

Does anyone know a host that allows you to send as many emails per hour as you like. Currently my host limit me to 100 an hour but my sites sends about 500 altogether per hour. Reason there are so many is because i have a couple sites now with a good size user base each and everytime a comment is left or something like that a notification is sent, especially on the forum. I don't need a limited host though because the sites are getting bigger and i don't wanna be moving around to find a new one everytime.

POP3/Webmail On My VPS
I just purchased an almost bare VPS and installed Cpanel myself. Problem is the mail is not working right. I connect, try and login and repeatedly get Login Failed. I've tried re-creating the emails accounts, i've tried the default mail account that gets created, and i've tried logging into the webmail with the same login problems. I've also telneted to my server from my pc fine, but once again the login just fails. This made me look towards there being a server misconfiguration... because these are newly created mail accounts with correctly entered details. In WHM, i tried restarting the POP3 service and the output doesn't look usual.. Attempting to restart cppop Waiting for cppop to restart.... . . . . . . . . . . finished. cppop status couriertcpd is disabled Service: [cppop] has been disabled by the sys admin Not sure if it's related or how to fix it... could really use the help since all my mail will probably get dropped after DNS propogation goes thru =/

Bizarre With Sending/receiving Emails In Outlook 2007
There is a strange problem with picking up and sending emails on Outlook 2007 which I have wasted hours on over the last week. Whenever I try to pick up/send emails on domain names, I get a 800CCC0F error message. It says: "reported error (0x800CCC0F): 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If the problem continues, contact your server adminstrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP)'" I have gone through all the steps here [url]and here [url]and on another websites. I have been setting up email addresses on Outlook for several years, so know how they should be done. The strange thing is the email addresses of domain names hosted elsewhere work perfectly. But both new and existing Clook-hosted email addresses are producing this error message. I believe it may be an error with the software for two reasons: 1. The email addresses work perfectly when I open Outlook in Safe Mode. 2. Our web host's staff have not been able to find anything wrong and the email addresses work when they try to set them up on their computers. Any idea why our email addresses may not be working and how I can fix this please? I have tried System Restore and Repairing the program on my computer's Control Panel.

Windows Server POP3/SMTP
I'm running Windows Server 2003. I have two domains on separate IPs: test1.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.160] test2.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.161] I am running two separate SMTP virtual servers (with different access rules) -- with two separate drop folders. default SMTP Virtual Server [assigned to 160] second SMTP VS [assigned to 161] I want test1.com added to the default SMTP server and test2.com added to the second SMTP server. I have read that I must add these domains via the POP3 service. The problem is that adding domains via POP3 service will always add the domains to the DEFAULT SMTP server. I want test2.com added to the second SMTP server. Is there a solution to this problem, or am I doing something wrong? Can xmail handle this scenario?

Cpanel :: No POP3 / Webmail Access
One cPanel account out of the entire server is the only one affected. This one user, can not login to POP3 or Webmail for any of his email accounts. I have checked the permissions and file owner/group on the files and folders in: /home/USERNAME/mail/* and /home/USERNAME/etc/* I have also tried restarting the POP3 service and cPanel. I have verified his passwd file has correct permissions and is in the correct format. I have tried resetting his email passwords. I have even tried too create a new email account. Still.. No POP3 / Webmail access. His email accounts are listed in cPanel. I have installed ConfigServer Mail Manage (WHM Addon), and his domain will NOT show his email accounts (of course all other domains on the server are fine). I know this is probably a configuration file or a file permission problem somewhere... I just can't find where! Any advice?

So, I have my own dedicated server and have been rather neglectfull. I currently have about 24 thousand email messages from the last few years. Like a tard, I always clicked "leave a copy of messages on server" on my mail clients. So, I've been doing some reading and have decided to start over usin IMAP instead of POP3. Since I have all the messages in Outloop (go go 700 Meg .PST!) I',m looking for the best way to: 1. Back up my mail on the server 2. Nuke it all 3. Convert to IMAP I then plan on installing something like http://www.roundcube.net/ I'm on a linix redhat server running cpanel.

I bought a shared hosting account, specifically for my own personal email account. I wanted to use IMAP obviously, but the host only allow IMAP on incoming mail... And Pop3 on outgoing. Forwarding/Default+POP3 Addy Doesnt Work - Piping/Webmail Works
My server which runs cPanel (license issued touchsupport) is having problems with handling emails. I use an external DNS provider (editdns.net) only for this 1 particular domain for handling many Records and such. Through their panel, I have added my mail server's record, i.e. "mailserver.tld". Now there is a problem with one part of the email issue. I have email piping setup and 1 webmail account setup too. These two work flawlessly. No issues with them. But email forwarding and default address doesn't work. I am confident that the email settings are working right because, when my clients send an email, piping works and my support system creates a new ticket. But the email forwarding/Default EMail doesn't. Not just that, I cannot even connect to the webmail account I created via POP3. I 100% sure that I used the correct login credentials and also tried the "+" and ":" for the username part. Just doesn't work. But I can access and read my emails via the Webmail (squirrelmail). Please help me out with this as soon as possible.
