I am planning on doing the upgrade like this (if I decide to upgrade PHP and MYSQL all together)
In order to install moodle, I need to upgrade MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5. I have gone through one of the KB articles [URL], but it's not very clear.
Can I upgrade it through Add/remove Components from Install and update products just like it can be done for PHP?? I see MySQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012,
Plesk has mysql installed with it to run properly and I need to upgrade that version to the latest. Now I am not talking about the mysql server that it provides for me to create databases on. I am talking about the version it uses to run.
I'm still using Plesk 11.5.30 and MySql 5.5.39. That was discribed here how to update. But i need to have a MySql 5.6.5 (minimum) for some software (This version is over 2 years old). I'm using CentOs 6.5. and PHP 5.4.33
I see that Plesk 12 supports MySQL 5.6, but the server I am running is Ububtu 14.04 LTS and comes with 5.5.
I need to make 5.6 available but I can see no way of doing it without breaking Plesk (I already tried just installing it from command line with apt-get install and had to restore the whole server from backup!) - there is no option for MYSQL in Plesks updates & upgrades menu ...
At the moment, I am been hosted on an unmanaged server (dedicated).
My server provider is offering $25/hour for managed support.
My Kernal and Centos have not been updated for a while and I am looking to upgrade both of them. I am wondering how long would these 2 jobs normally take?
Since we upgraded to Plesk 11.5 or (I'm not shure) the last Update 12, user can not import MySQL-Databases anymore.
If the user open phpMyAdmin for import and select the database and click on Ok, phpMyAdmin does nothing.
I heard that could be a problem with JQUERY and I checked the files in ParallelsadminhtdocsdomainsdatabasesphpMyAdminjsjquery and all files seems to be there.
Only if I check the source of the phpMyAdmin Import-Website it seems, there is a problem with jquery-1.6.2+fix-9521.js.
But how I can fix this problem for all Windows-Servers.
I'm trying to upgrade centos 3.8 to 4.5 but seem stuck here
I did a :
yum update --all
(nothing to be upgraded)
root@server [~]# rpm -Uvh --force yum-2.4.3-3.el4.centos.noarch.rpm centos-release-4-4.3.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: python-elementtree is needed by yum-2.4.3-3.el4.centos python-sqlite is needed by yum-2.4.3-3.el4.centos
root@server [~]# rpm -Uvh [url] Retrieving [url] error: Failed dependencies: python-abi = 2.3 is needed by python-elementtree-1.2.6-5.el4.centos
root@server [~]# rpm -Uvh [url] Retrieving [url] error: Failed dependencies: libsqlite3.so.0 is needed by python-sqlite-1.1.7-1.2.1
I wanted the database to 5.0.67-community version last update and do the best version available. OS: CENTOS 5.3 i686 standard is. And PHP version 5.2.9 and Kernel version 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 I can version this database to mysql-5.1.35 updates can If you can help there. and if this is not good please help me that what version that this current version is better I do updates. You're commands and write how it can be done.
why a VPS host wouldn't upgrade a VPS from CentOS 4.7 to 5.4? Is there some technical explanation that I'm not privy to?
Hello,
Unfortunately we cannot upgrade the OS on our VPS product. If you would like to go up to CentOS 5, you will need to purchase a dedicated server and we would then be able to migrate all of your accounts to that dedicated server. Is this something you are interested in? I can get you over to our sales team to discuss getting a dedicated server if you would like.

I replied asking if they offered CentOS 5 VPS and this was his reply:
Hello,
Yes, that is correct. As far as I know, that is in development, but I couldn't even begin to speculate when that will be finalized.
Did you wish to be upgraded to a dedicated server?

Aside from the extremely annoying upsell at the end of each e.mail, I'm inclined to think I'm going to have to change VPS providers.
With Windows, it's simple to know when you need to upgrade the memory on a server. On Linux, apparently alot of RAM is reserved for cache?
Anyways, I currently have 2GB of RAM in a server and am wondering when the RAM should be upgraded. The server has became quite unstable and server load is always below 2, usually around 0.60 - 1.20.
Here's the current memory usage from PHPSysInfo (picture below): [url]
Would you recommend I upgrade the RAM to help with stability?
Currently running a server with a little less than 100 accounts, running 32 bit CentOS 4.6 on a single chip running a current version of Cpanel and we're going to upgrade to a two quad core chips, and I figured I'd take this time to upgrade to a 64 bit version of CentOS 5.1. Here's my question: We're running an old version of Apache, and PHP
and while all we have on the server now are wordpress blogs and a few forums, I have to confess a level of uninformed-ness when it comes to upgrading Apache and then transferring all the accounts.
These will be different machines, as I hope to make the backup/restore fairly seemless.
Should I upgrade Apache to the Apache2.* before I make the transfer, or does it matter? Same with PHP to PHP5.* There shouldn't be any conflicts, but I'm posting this because I haven't had to deal with it as yet and thought someone knew of an large issue I could be on the lookout.
Also, the RPM/Perl modules's I've installed over time. Uh, is there a "differential" list or am I going to have to create a list of the RPMs I've got now, and then check after I make the build on the new machine? There's probably a dozen or so ones specific to some applications on the server that aren't required for the core operation, and damned if I can remember which they were...
I have more worries, but most of it involves hand holding issues I think I'll work on privately, but if I do have any more questions, I'll add it to this thread.
I have a number of web sites on a dedicated server. Some of these web sites are a few years old. Are there any issues upgrading from MySQL 4.1 to 5.x? Are there web sites that may have compatibility issues?
I am running the op Centos and also have got Cpanel installed on my VPS.
Yesterday I just upgraded MYSQL from 4 to 5 using the Cpanel script. And when I run mysql -v it says that I am running Mysql 5.
When I run phpinfo it displays that I am still running mysql 4.
I have tired rebuilding php 5 by running:-
PHP Code:
./configure --with-mysqli --with-mysql=/usr Make
But I am keeping on getting the follow error message:-
gcc: /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so: No such file or directory
When I check in the direct, all I have got is libmysqlclient.a, libmysqlclient.la*, libmysqlclient_r.a, libmysqlclient_r.la
So how can I check extactly what has been installed for MYSQL 5 and where it been installed and see what could be missing? Because all I did was to run it from the cpanel mysql 5 upgrade.
Yesterday I went to run an upgrade on MySQL from 3.23 to 4.1.
The upgrade went fine, but after that was completed, I could no longer access Plesk. After a lot of hassle I finally went to reinstall Plesk, well during that somewhere down the line everything crumbled horribly.
I can no longer access any of my sites on 80, httpd fails to start. When I type Quote:
/etc/init.d/httpd start
I get
Code: [rtusrgd@nuinspiration rtusrgd]$ sudo su [root@nuinspiration rtusrgd]# /etc/init.d/httpd start Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs [FAILED] [root@nuinspiration rtusrgd]# And when I try to run
Quote:
/etc/init.d/pssa start
I get
Code: [root@nuinspiration /]# /etc/init.d/psa restart PSA is down, performing full restart. Starting psa-spamassassin service: [ OK ] websrvmng: Service /etc/init.d/httpd failed to start websrvmng: Service /etc/init.d/httpd failed to start /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/httpsdctl start: httpd started Starting Plesk: [ OK ] Starting up drwebd: Dr.Web (R) daemon for Linux/Plesk Edition v4.33 (4.33.0.09211) Copyright (c) Igor Daniloff, 1992-2005 Doctor Web, Ltd., Moscow, Russia Support service: [url] To purchase: [url]
I can still access my sites via ftp, just not via web browsing.
GoDaddy is my server host and after speaking to them, the only advice they were able to give me, was that the only solution they see is to format the drive and start from fresh. The only issue is I have about 93 sites on the server itself and not all have hard backups.
