I am having a win 2003 server with a static ip and i have hosted 2 web sites in the iis server but no images are been displayed is it something to do with the designing of the site or some problem in my hosting,
I have a server with serverboost.nl and my site is not reachable via some networks. We have done a both way tracert and it fails after few steps. I am not sure how many networks give this error but I have already received few complaints from regular visitors to the site.
1. Who/ what networks should I contact to resolve this issue? I ave already asked ServerBoost.nl and they said TRACERT fails at Cogent network.
2.Cogent replied saying the following "Thank you for the trace example. What you were seeing was the 1st and last hop on the Cogent network mpd01.iad01. The very next hop then transfers over to the Savvis network. I have completed a successfully trace to the destination.
mpd01.iad01#trace Target IP address: "MySiteIP" Tracing the route to "MySiteIP"
What's the best thing to go with? Is it a VPS or a Dedi?
I am currently on a shared package with a US company. However, I'd like to bring the site into the UK hosting domain, and perhaps closer to where I live.
Location in the UK isn't important.
What's the best thing to go with? VPS or Dedi? Or to remain on my US shared?
Currently at about 35GB bandwidth for this month. And the site's only been open 2 months. So will need over 200GB a month with room to expand.
Does Image hosting site requires a Powerful server or just enough bandwidth?
I am not sure if I should get a more powerful SERVER or increase my current BANDWIDTH Cap For people who has a Image/File hosting type website.. what kind of server are you using?
I used to use dedimove.com, but they have dropped off the face of the earth i moved to another host, id rather not say them name as i dont want to give them a bad name and have no complaints with their service other then the speeds are not very good...
im looking for a 100mbit port and under 100 dollars price range as the site really doesnt make any money... and at least 3 TB transfer...
I already started a thread, and got suggestions about a host to choose. I selected HostGator, but when i read the TOS of HostGator, they do not openly allow image sharing and do not allow you to keep more than 50,000 files on their server.
So, which host do you recommend me. Please consider:
1. Low cost,
2. Reliability,
3. High shared disk and bandwidth
4. Allow image sharing. (I am not going to share adult images).
I have an oddball problem here that I haven't seen.
When you visit domain.com, characters are displayed like the files are not being properly read. However, when you visit domain.com/index.php all works fine. I thought this would be an .htaccess issue and tried simply removing it, but this doesn't fix the issue. I checked httpd.conf and all looks fine there too.
Recently installed apache + php and such a move over this large site.
However any files that end with the .rar extension are shown in the browser instead of being displayed as a download.
Is there something i need to add to apache to force it to make .rar files be downloaded instead of displayed in the browser as jumbled text and symbols.
*I think im just have a memory block and can't remember how i have fixed this before*
Everything is working fine, except that a lot of excotic letters and symbols on the site are not displayed correctly. Most of the special letters in Swedish, Russian or Polish are replaced by a '?' or a small square. It is a serverside problem, as the same texts are displayed correctly on another, older webserver.
I assume it has something to do with a character set or font that I need to install. But I don't know the exact name of this option, so searching on google doesnt give much relevant results.
I am using Apache 2.4.1 (Win64), PHP 5.3.10 on Microsoft Windows 2008 server. I have also installed Microsoft VC++ 2010 (64 bit). I successfully configured mod_fcgid 2.3.7 as per the instructions. This was confirmed by running info php page. But when I run FastCGI test scripts, the output is displayed in text form and not in html format.
I have a Plesk 11.5 server that someone made changes to in IIS to allow web site users to turn the sending of detailed error messages on and off from a web.config file. Unfortunately now none of the sites will send detailed error messages to the browser no matter what is done. The person that made the changes to IIS did not document them properly and cannot tell me what exactly they changed. None of the obvious settings have made an effect on the problem.

First of all I checked via command line if any software is not installed properly while plesk installation was done on destination server (windows server 2012 R2). All looks fine, please check attached file pleskinstallation.txt
Source plesk version 10.4.4 (windows server 2008) Destination plesk version 12.0.18 MU#23 built.
We are in testing mode of migrating websites hosted with source plesk version 10.4.4 onto destination server plesk server 12.0.18 having (windows server 2012 R2).
What we did, we restored the backup of Source plesk version 10.4.4 (windows server 2008) to Destination plesk version 12.0.18 MU#23 built.
Now the problem is that backup which we restored on Destination plesk version 12.0.18 MU#23 was of 68 GB and now when we setup the backup on Destination plesk version 12.0.18 MU#23 and when backup completes successfully it show us wrong backup size up to 16 GB.
We have requested several times to plesk support has to check the entire new plesk version in terms of all feature (like taking backup, restoring, plesk installation etc) while releasing new version, If they have noticed bug than plesk support should not release new version or micro update until they are sure.
I would request them again to check backup size bug along with other bugs.
1. "Stats crashing and not updating stats"
2. installing "Spam assassin" on Plesk 12.0.18 on windows server 2012 r2 and we are getting error:
Error: Unable to set Plesk SpamAssassin 3.3.2 as the default Spam Filter: defpackagemng failed: Execute spammng.exe --check failed with error code 1: Unable generate the unique file name by template D:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskAdditionalPerlsiteetcmailspamassassinlocal.cf[*].bak: directory D:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskAdditionalPerlsiteetcmailspamassassin does not exist.
I am not sure if many of you have been getting this same spam. But I've been getting spam about sexual topics and the email is just an image with words written on it.
Sometimes the email has words too such as what is written below.

I was wondering if you know of a way to block those emails.
I installed imagemagick perl module but it is still giving off this error
Can't locate Image/Magick.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /home/user/real/mgmt/perl /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i686-linux /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /home/user/real/mgmt/perl/real/Image.pm line 33. I have developed website which will allow user to upload 1-2 photos and also allow to see other users photo and rate them. For this I have planned to go for VPS. I am also thinking of another alternative of using image hosting service, where I will keep all user photos on image hosting server and embed links given by image server in my webpage.
Now my question is.
1) Using image hosting is faster(respone time for each user) than VPS?
2) How exactly using image hosting works. when user request web page from my server, will my server go and fetch entire image from image server and then send final result to user brower?
where I can host images for my site. It will be thousands of smaller image like 5k - 30k. I am looking at free sites like imageshak. They say in their terms of service that I can host images for my site as long as I don't host all my images. So do you think that I could put like 20 thousand images on their site? These images would not get accessed too much so it won't slam their servers or anything.
I haven't been able to find much about this searching, but are people using NAS storage to deliver website images? I've never used NAS before and am not familiar with their performance.
I created a 4GB disk image for a virtual machine in Xen. (I have root on the physical box, so please don't tell me to contact my VPS provider!)
The disk was filling up, so I took the advice online and created a 6GB file with dd (zero-filled), cat'ed it to the end of my disk file, and then...
[matt@babe centos]$ sudo resize2fs -f ./cent.img resize2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006) resize2fs: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open ./cent.img Couldn't find valid filesystem superblock. Of course, fsck won't take a disk image, only an actual partition. And I can't mount it, since I get the same error about a bad superblock.
The VM actually boots up fine, but it only sees 4GB of what's now a 10GB file.
I can use losetup to mount it on a /dev, but still get fsck errors:
[matt@babe centos]$ sudo fsck.ext3 -b 8193 /dev/loop3 e2fsck 1.39 (29-May-2006) fsck.ext3: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/loop3
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device>
I don't know what blocksize was used, so I don't know where to look for a superblock... (I'm out of my league on fsck'ing virtual disks.)
The thing boots fine and is non-mission-critical right now, so worst-case, I can just mount it, rsync the data to the host, and then set up a new machine and rsync that in... I'd just rather not go through that hassle if I don't have to.
My goal is to block hotlinking of fullsize images and display a image when they attempt it... but allow clickable thumbnails to be shown. For some reason the following isn't working...
My htaccess looks like this:
RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /images
#Allow if it's not from another website RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^[url] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^[url]
#Allow if it's the hotlink.gif RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} hotlink.gif [NC,OR]
#Pass through thumbnails or hightlights as-is RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} .thumb.jpg$ [NC,OR]
#Return an anti-hotlink gif in place of any visual media RewriteRule .*.(jpe?g|gif|bmp|png)$ css/images/hotlink.gif [R,L,NC]
i have a forum site which is running on a vps 45gb space and 2000gb put i would like to offer my members a means to upload images small files max 5-10mb just with in the site but i would like to use a totally new server are there any shared host that will allow this has i will use a scrpit has well on it
i have set up a sever with certain software exactly the way i want it. However, there is some extra stuff i need to install on it.
I am running Centos 5.1 and would like to run some command possibly via ssh which would create an entire image of the server in a disk format such as ISO and then if need be, reinstall the basic operating system and restore the ISO back up if need be.
Is this possible?
If so how and how would i restore the image as well?
