2wire BT router (Firmware 6.1.1) 1 Server (Dell) Hardware with NICs (Server is connected to router via Ethernet Cable) 5 Static Ip addresses purchased from BT Server OS is Centos 5.2
All laptops (5) are able to connect to the net wirelessly. I just did a standard installation of the Centos following [url]
I then tried Code: yum update but it times out. I have no remote access to the server. I can only connect when i am on the router. I have seached, read and tried so many sites and commands but it just is not working. I have had this problem for about a 6 days.
Its a long story but basically this server setup has become a nemesis.
I don't mind providing remote access to the server and router admin page if needed. I am in London btw.
on a fresh installation of Ubuntu (at first 14.04 but on 12.04 the same problem occurs) I installed Plesk via the autoinstaller. It seems to be all fine except I cannot open Plesk in the browser.
The web browser shows "502 Bad Gateway", a look into the error_log at "/var/log/plesk/sw-cp-server" shows the following error:
Code: 2014/08/11 09:37:22 [crit] 4988#0: *4 connect() to unix:/var/run/sw-engine.sock failed (2: No such file or directory) while connecting to upstream, client: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, server: , request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/sw-engine.sock:", host: "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8443" So the problem seems to be the sw-engine service that cannot be started. If I try to start it manually with `/etc/init.d/sw-engine start` it just fails:
Code: * Starting Plesk engine pool manager sw-engine-fpm [fail]
Where to find any startup error log for sw-engine, where I could find any further information.
So on our server, fail2ban got itself in a mess. Tried various things to fix, to no avail, so figured I'd just do a fresh install of it. There was minimal customisation to it that I couldn't re-do.
Note I'd already rm'd /etc/fail2ban - as on previous attempts, the files in here didn't appear to be restored to their defaults. So I figured removing the directory would force this to happen (Whether this was wise I'm not sure!) ;-)
So, following instructions here: [URL] .... I now get the following:
# wget http://kb.sp.parallels.com/Attachments/kcs-36245/fail2ban.gz # gunzip fail2ban.gz # mv fail2ban /etc/init.d/fail2ban # chmod 755 /etc/init.d/fail2ban # ll /etc/init.d/fail2ban /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf ls: cannot access /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf: No such file or directory -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2141 Aug 15 2014 /etc/init.d/fail2ban
I then uninstall/reinstall with # /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller
(Have tried via the web interface too)
I then get:
# ll /etc/init.d/fail2ban /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf ls: cannot access /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf: No such file or directory -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2141 Aug 15 2014 /etc/init.d/fail2ban
i.e., no change..
and if I go to the fail2ban settings in Plesk, I get:
I'm missing files that the existing crontab requires. There are results on Google for it, but since the parallels' forum upgrade, all the Google links are dead...
The missing crons in question are:
/bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/clean-events: No such file or directory /bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/pack-sysstats: No such file or directory /bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/clean-sysstats: No such file or directoryClick to expand...
Is it enough to restore the full server backup via the web interface of Plesk to get everything running fine after a reinstall, or is there something else I should do ? I have all kind of backups (server, domains, customers). My server is running Plesk 12 on Ubuntu 12, and I think I will have Ubuntu 14 on the new installation. My backups are on a server on the same local network than my server.
I currently have a VPS with cPanel and WHM installed. I created some CRS files via WHM and ordered a Certificate from RapidSSL. However, things went wrong so I would like to know how to delete everything to do with SSL and start from the beginning. This time with the help of a few tutorials.
I've deleted all the SSL Hosts via WHM, however there is still two showing in cPanel and I when I go to delete them there it says:
The key for <url>.com has been deleted. The Key for <url>.com cannot be fully deleted, because it is installed in the system ssl directory! The Certificate Signing Request for <url>.com cannot be fully deleted, because it is installed in the system ssl directory! The Certificate for <url>.com cannot be fully deleted, because it is installed in the system ssl directory!
Also, if I want to secure a billing system that is on a subdomain. E.g. scripts.domain.com do I purchase and create the certificates for domain.com or scripts.domain.com?

How can I run memtest86 remotely?? my server has crashed 8 times in less than a week ,
I've had many glitches, it's failed to restart a few times and twice I had a odd glitch where /home/mishkin/ on became read only access (even to mishkin) chmod couldn't fix it and the first time a reboot solved it, the seccond time the server went dead, not even remote reboot can bring it back online
I told my host server.lu about this and demanded a new server, they repleyed with "did you run memtest?"
I told them that I have no idea how to do that remotely and it's 12+ hours (8 of them buisness hours) without reply
help me out guys, oh also any idea how I can get it running again?? it's debian stable
oh and during some of the crashes I had 3 terminals and xfce4 running only (and wasn't even logged on )
I had my box reinstalled with same OS as before, Centos x64. I am creating a NEW VPS and assigning it an IP from my Extended network (not primary) and the IPs are not pingable as if GATEWAY= was missing from the ifcfg config on network-scripts.
