trying to get my Win2k3 Standard R2 server to work.
Problem:
I did some Windows update around 3am this morning but during the update process. I lost Remote desktop connection as my machine is do several attempts to connect with the remote server. I cancel the attempt after several try. I figure i can remote desktop back in again if i wait for a bit but I couldn't re-establish the connection with my remote server. So, I drove to the Datacenter to check it out and it turn out the machine have rebooted and I'm stuck with "NTDetect failed" error message. After some googling, I was trying to fix this error by copying NTLDR and NTDetect.COM into C: but when i tried to use the Win2k3 CD to go into Windows Setup and repair. I got an error message telling me that "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer...".
After some googling, I found the two Maxtor SATA hard disks might be the problem and one soultion that i found was to disable the SATA or set it to IDE since the motherboard have nvida RAID controller onboard. I check the BIOS and the RAID is set to disabled and then i tried to disable SATA and only enable IDE. It still give me the same error message about not able to find any hard disk.
I'm on my last rope here. I'm short of reformatting the hard disk and do a fresh reinstall but I will like to avoid this.
Does anyone know if cancel Remote desktop connection attempt during Windows update process cause this NTdetect failed problem or something else that might related to my hardware. I can assure you that two SATA hard disks shown on BIOS.
The soultion to NTDecte failed problem seem to be just copying NTLDR and NTdectect.com into C: but since i can't even get to Repair mode during Windows setup with no disk install error. Can someone recommand how to solve this problem?
The motherboard that i use is ASUS M2N-MX SE AM2 NVIDIA GeForce6100 / nForce430 and the BIOS is American Megatrends Inc.
I'm running into a problem with a relatively new (2 months old) server. I have just a few accounts on it, and I'm already noticing unusual loads, for the... load. After some benchmarking with bonnie++ (and plain old "dd") there is clearly a problem.
Isn't a write-speed over 7MB/s reasonable to expect? Also look at the low CPU times...
Anyway running the same test on a similar but older AND busier server showed much better results than this. In fact dd'ing a 1GB file from /dev/zero "finished" in about 10 seconds but then pegged the server at 99% iowait (wa) for a full three minutes (until done being written from cache I assume), bringing load to 15.00
That's all the info I have so far... the data center just replaced the card (which gave no errors) with no effect. Running these benchmark tests is about the extend of my hardware experience.
about the hd,there are two options, the first one is four 7200rpm sata to do raid 10, the second one is two 10000rpm sata to do raid 1, about the performance, which one will be better?
I'm currently in the process of ordering a new server and would like to throw another $50-$70 at the default SATA II 7k 250 GB to increase performance. The server will host a site similar to WHT (php, mysql, and some forum traffic ).
There are three options I can get for the price:
1. Add another SATA II 7k 250 GB and set up RAID 1 2. Add a 73GB 15k RPM SA-SCSI and put mySQL on it. No RAID. 3. Toss out the SATA II 7k and take two SATA 10k 150 GB instead. Put mySQL on one of them. No RAID.
Please keep in mind that the question is budget-related (I know I can get more if I spend an extra $200 but that's not what I want ). Which of the above will make me happiest?
I am trying to install LAMP on Ubuntu 7.1. However I installed apache2, php5 and mysql and it is not running properly. I would like to start from scratch. Could someone please tell me how to go about removing all three components and then installing all from scratch so that it will run properly?
I had my box reinstalled with same OS as before, Centos x64. I am creating a NEW VPS and assigning it an IP from my Extended network (not primary) and the IPs are not pingable as if GATEWAY= was missing from the ifcfg config on network-scripts.
So on our server, fail2ban got itself in a mess. Tried various things to fix, to no avail, so figured I'd just do a fresh install of it. There was minimal customisation to it that I couldn't re-do.
Note I'd already rm'd /etc/fail2ban - as on previous attempts, the files in here didn't appear to be restored to their defaults. So I figured removing the directory would force this to happen (Whether this was wise I'm not sure!) ;-)
So, following instructions here: [URL] .... I now get the following:
# wget http://kb.sp.parallels.com/Attachments/kcs-36245/fail2ban.gz # gunzip fail2ban.gz # mv fail2ban /etc/init.d/fail2ban # chmod 755 /etc/init.d/fail2ban # ll /etc/init.d/fail2ban /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf ls: cannot access /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf: No such file or directory -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2141 Aug 15 2014 /etc/init.d/fail2ban
I then uninstall/reinstall with # /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller
(Have tried via the web interface too)
I then get:
# ll /etc/init.d/fail2ban /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf ls: cannot access /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.conf: No such file or directory -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2141 Aug 15 2014 /etc/init.d/fail2ban
i.e., no change..
and if I go to the fail2ban settings in Plesk, I get:
What steps do I need to take to uninstall Parallel Plesk 11 for Windows. Then Reinstall Parallel Plesk 11 for Windows. Because my "File Manager" got corrupted, my download link timesout and I need this fixed.
I'm missing files that the existing crontab requires. There are results on Google for it, but since the parallels' forum upgrade, all the Google links are dead...
The missing crons in question are:
/bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/clean-events: No such file or directory /bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/pack-sysstats: No such file or directory /bin/sh: /usr/local/psa/libexec/modules/watchdog/cp/clean-sysstats: No such file or directoryClick to expand...
Is it enough to restore the full server backup via the web interface of Plesk to get everything running fine after a reinstall, or is there something else I should do ? I have all kind of backups (server, domains, customers). My server is running Plesk 12 on Ubuntu 12, and I think I will have Ubuntu 14 on the new installation. My backups are on a server on the same local network than my server.
I need reinstall qmail after spam atack and follows the post.URL....It says:

can a Xen disk image be converted to a diskpartition?
Someone is asking whether I can host his disk image at his current host, which he is leaving for poor I/O (wonder why that would be ). I can host a diskimage, but I don't like diskimages (slow, and 100GB isn't very 'comfortable' either). Is there any way out there to convert a disk image into a normal partition?
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS and Plesk 12.0.18 - update 38. Since i have reinstalled 3 servers, i don't have imap connection possible in some case.
- When i connect from a Thunderbird, it works only if it's not secure : any attempt with ssl is refused.
- When i try to use a smartphone with the same working config done in Thunderbird, i canno't log whatever i do to find something working on the smartphone (note : it's works with pop)
- Horde refuse all users. If i switch to Roundcube, all works...
There is something wrong : i search the web, the forum, for 14 days now, without success. I tried many thing from the KB...no success either.
I use apache with CentOS VPS hosting for my blog. I only host one blog in this VPS account. I have 1.5GB RAM and I have 7, 500 page preview per day. My page loading time is 2-3 seconds (according to the pingdom tool).
I want to know what is the best performance (faster web page loading) W3 Total cache option for VPS hosting blog. Currently I use Disk to enhance for page cache and database cache for disk.
