What VPS providers do you recommend me?
I need a Linux VPS with cPanel and modest allocated resources (like 10-30GB bandwith, 5-10GB disk space).
Provider must be VERY reliable.
Budget $35/mo all included with Paypal.
my dad hired someone to build a web site for one of his clients and the guy used codfusion for the forms. I should have just built the site myself, but time is money and I have little time. So, is it possible to install coldfusion on a linux server RHEL3 with cpanel? I've got 3 other dedicated servers as well without cpanel that are running centos.

In term of compatibility and evolution, what is the best choice OS/Cpanel?
I'm having some problems with my new VPS server. The server is running under Linux with Plesk (sorry type error on the title, it's not CPanel but Plesk instead).
The server is working fine most of the time, however, once every one or two weeks, the server can be extremely slow or completely down. The only thing that I can do the solve the problem is to restart the server. Once the server is restarted, everything is back to normal. There's once, I couldn't even go to the control panel, the server restarted by itself after 45 minutes later.
I tried contacted the server administrator, they said they couldn't do any debugging for me since I have restarted the server. Their response is very slow, I couldn't wait for a few hours just to let them troubleshoot. And since this is unmanaged VPS, they seems to be reluctant to teach me on how to troubleshoot it. They just asked me whether I had done some troubleshooting whether it's a DDOS attack or just some optimization is required for the server. They are asking back the question to me! Due to some reasons, we can afford a downtime of more than half a day to switch the server, so meantime, I have to learn on troubleshooting the problem myself.
So, I will like to know if similar things happened, what should I do? Can I use Plesk to check? Or I need to login using SSH to check the server?
We are just porting our site over to SoftLayer running linux, cPanel and two Raids (one for DB and one for OS).
What companies would you recommend for Dedicated Server Management?
We would also want this server management company to move the website and provide a suitable level of security going forward.
We do not have the people to manage the server (it is only a few of us plus application programmers). It is just that we need to keep costs reasonable. I do not want to pay more than $100 per month and would like to pay less.
I dont know how but the passwords keeps getting changed on the emails on my cpanel. Its no one who has acess and no files are being delted to the problem is only with the email.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a server that crash at random time intervals. Mostly it crashes in between 7 days. The console is just chowing a blank screen.
The specs of the system are:
Linux Distro: CentOS 4.5, kernel 2.6.9-55.0.6.ELsmp (tried multiple kernels).
Control Panel: cPanel 11.x
Hardware Info:Tyan server barebone - GT20 B5350G20S4H
dual processor intel xeon
4 GB Reg. DDR RAM
4 x 250 GB Western Digital WD2500JS-00 Hard Disks
ARECA-1110 4xSATAII PCI-X Raid controller.
I tried everything on the software part. Update the kernel, keep system software up to date. Nothing workerd.
The load is just normal and memory usage is only 1GB out of 4GB.
There are no entries in the log files witch are pointing to an error.
Everything is leading to an hardware issue. I suspect the raid controller or memory. The power supply is not an problem I think because the server consumes still power when it has a blank screen.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi would like to move few clients from my old linux VPS that runs on Cpanel .. to my new windows VPS tat runs Plesk .. you see there were several attempts by new provider .. they cant guarantee that accounts can be fully migrated even manually they only copied site files to new server .. the client account's still running on linux vps cpanel, they are intact .. clients dont have any php or mysql files they are just plain HTML and Flash files .. i can move site files .. im concerned about mail accounts and emails that already in my clients inbox (they are using IMAP accounts) .. do you guys know any guideline or step by step how to migrate my clients

I have migrate Hosting from Cpanel to Plesk, but mailbox not create successful.

Stderr is
Unable to set the mailbox size limit for the domain: The size of this mailbox must not exceed the limit on amount of disk space allocated for mailboxes in this domain.
Default mailbox of Cpanel is 250MB.
How to change default mailbox size to 250MB to change mail from Cpanel to Plesk.

Because of that none of my accounts can't be migrated.
I currently run the PMM tool, it migrates and created all the domains for me, but I have a new problem. Some clients does not have their files only at public_html, they use the root at their cpanel accounts, I notice that the PMM did not migrated the files from the root.... Is there any option to it be done?

We recently started migrating some cPanel accounts to Plesk. Besides the obvious that it doesn't create customer accounts it contains a pretty frustrating bug:
When an mail forward in cPanel has multiple addresses, only one the first mail forward address is migrated to Plesk.
so, E.g.
on cPanel: test@example.com is forwarded to john.doe@something.com, jane.doe@else.com, foo@bar.com
after migration to Plesk:
test@example.com is forwarded to john.doe@something.com only. The other addresses are not migrated.

I need to setup 5 email accounts on my domain, each will use IMAP and store messages on server, so total space taken by each account will be 2-5 GB.
I have decided to go with eurovps.com as I'm close to them and ping is fast.
What is the best solution for IMAP and large email accounts: Linux Cpanel, Linux Plesk or Windows Plesk?
Each account will be accessed by 2 people differently by Thunderbird and occasionally by webmail, so nice webmail is a plus.
I have a situation like this:
There is a directory say, "Master" and inside, "Master" there is sub-directory, "Slave". A user who has access to, "Master" should be able to access, "Slave" automatically. However, a user who has access to, "Slave" should not have access to, "Master". Inside cPanel this type of protection is not possible.
I am trying to install Magento on my apache server. I am running into the dreaded mcrypt issue as Magento needs it to run. I have now been googling for the past few hours and have gotten nowhere.

When I try to install using # yum install php-mcrypt I get the following:

vulnerability in question affects Horde 3.1.6 and earlier. Based on

Groupware 1.0.4 and earlier as well (cPanel does not use Horde Groupware

cPanel customers should update their cPanel and WHM servers immediately to
prevent any chance of compromise. The patch will be available in builds
11.18.2 and greater (or 11.19.2 and greater for EDGE systems). The updated
builds will be available immediately to all fast update servers. The
builds will be available to all other update servers within one hour of
this posting.
To check which version of cPanel and WHM is on your server, simply log
into WebHost Manager (WHM) and look in the top right corner, or execute
the following command from the command line as root:
/usr/local/cpanel/cpanel -V
You can upgrade your server by navigating to 'cPanel' -> 'Upgrade to
Latest Version' in WebHost Manager or by executing the following from the
command line as root:
/scripts/upcp
It is recommended that all use of Horde 3.1.6 and earlier be stopped (on
cPanel and non-cPanel systems alike) until Horde updates can be applied.
You can disable Horde on your cPanel system by unchecking the box next to
'Server Configuration' -> 'Tweak Settings' -> 'Mail' -> 'Horde Webmail'
within WHM, and saving the page with the new settings.
