If you know how x-sendfile (lighttpd) and X-Accel-Redirect(Nginx) headers working you know that in php script I can use this headers when I want to download some files direct with lighttpd/nginx and not with php, that is great, but I need to know is possible to set some header in lighttpd/nginx to execute some php script/code after download finished (to back to php)?

look for someone to do the installation and configuration of these two (lighttpd or nginx) to run along with Cpanel as compatible as possible.
Hired a 'SultanHost' but the service was not expected and support the worse.
A user from USA clicks www.domain.com/video/vid.flv and they go to the USA server to download.
A user from Europe clicks the same link and they go to Netherlands server.
A user from Asia clicks the same link and they go to Hong Kong.
How can I configure Lighttpd to point *.flv to a specific server based on location. I don't want the www.domain.com to change, I would like it to always show www.domain.com but point to different countries depending on where the person is located.
I want this for *.flv only
we are running a file sharing service and use lighttpd as a web server
the problem is that in Internet Explorer are some files i.e. .mpg, .pdf
and others opened directly in the browser
so is there a way to prevent this behavior(to force the browser to

to getting a second server, specifically for downloads for my site. Without going into too much detail, my website requires that I get a separate server for downloads, and another for the webserver.
I've already gone ahead and configured the server I want; however, I'm trying to do something different from what I'm used to. I'd like to use Lighttpd, instead of apache, as well as not having cPanel installed on the server. I'd still have cPanel and Apache on my regular webserver, but I'd rather keep my download server relatively clean.
So, once I get my server, and I install Lighttpd, how do I go about setting up everything so that my two servers can communicate? I'd like the download server to be something like: download.mydomain.com , so would I have to set up an A Hostname on my webserver?
What are the steps I should take?
a company named [url] was with us for almost 4, months and they are using the server which are custom ordered high end server, we didn't took setup fee just because they promise us to stay at list for an year
and from past 2 months they just ranned away somewhere, didn't paid any invoice
i guess we did a big mistake by believing in them
i know these 2 servers wont make a big difference but still just for my info
can anyone suggest if we can take any legal action on them ?

i would like to present to you a scenario im sure everybody has thought of and has come up against.
1. If you are hosting with a web host and your files and website has been compromised due to the lack of security on the server what actions can you take against the host for this loss?
2. The host has a backup dating back to a week, but of course the data you have accumulated for the week that was lost is very valuable but you cant get it back now because of a flaw with the hosts server, is there anything you can do in a situation like this?
3. What if you are a reseller and have setup several sites for customers. One customer uses a CMS which means he/she will be updaitng their website every now and then and not always you are able to make backups of all the websites hosted by you as the reseller.
Now a weeks or a few days of data have been lost. The client complains and wants to take legal action against the reseller (you) and of course the reseller knows its the problem with the main host you are hosting with. What does the reseller do now with the client and the host whos made the mistake?
4. Clients livelihood depends on his/her Ecommerce website, they make an average turnover. Whether you are hosting on a dedicated or VPS nevertheless data loss has occured because the box was compromised. The blame is put on the host. In a scenario like this what can the customer do? He/She has lost some client details/orders information and products as a whole...? Remember this is a business... and money has been lost. A recovery backup a week old will never be sufficient enough for the loss.
Think about it... what will you do if any of the above four scenarios were to happen to you?
Yes i am aware of the terms. Some hosts will say they are not responsible forData loss in their small prints,
Some will say it is soley up to the customer to make backups,
When it comes to court they will point this out, and you'll be kicking yourself for being so foolish to go with a host in the first place which dosent gurantee the safety of your data.
Customers dont always read the small fine prints. Now realistically speaking what can the customer/client do in a situation like this? Im guessing nothing if the host outlines the terms ive pointed out above?
Is there really a host out there which takes whole responsibility for the loss and damage they create to your websites and businesses online?
The worst hosting you can get is Hostdepartment.com followed by Webhostasp.com and then Vortechhosting.com. All these have major complaints online. Hostdepartment servers are down about 50/50. 50% of the time the server will have problems and downtime throughout the day. Maybe not down for hours, but the servers will drop from time to time maybe 10 minutes here and there. Also Ixwebhosting.com surprisingly has downtime. The server is actually currently down as this is being written. Usualy action for this is to use iptables-ipset-proto and save all this baned IPs in the ipset insteed as normal in the iptables list - thats also a suggestion which was discussed in the fail2ban forum for better performance. And yes I had this running (ipset package installed) with my manual installation of fail2ban before I switched over to the plesk integrated.

I have a dedicated server, the server itself is secure (as far as I know) and I run lots of my sites from it. I offered a friend hosting for his flash based chat application he built.
Today I was contacted by someone; "Are you the owner of xxxx.net?" so I informed that yes, it was my server and they then showed me an email they'd received from my server. I did a search and apparently someone uploaded mail.php and a couple of files it was using to send out spam based upon a variety of conditions that the other files met. The files contained forenames and surnames, it'd use a forename and a surname then send it to popular free mail services. The email contained ramblings about new world order and promoted a website.
How can I find out how they got the files uploaded to the account and what action can I take? I checked the whois for the domain and have their contact information, however it's a large site so I'm doubtful that the owner did it. I don't want my servers IPs being blacklisted for spam :|
Let's suppose you have a site on a shared hosting plan, and all of the sudden it gets a huge surge in traffic as a result of being featured in the news or something like that. What would be a good plan of action to deal with the surge quickly?
(ex. maybe your hosts takes the site offline from bandwidth overuse)
Does anyone know the proper avenue for cancelling an account with HostNine? They are giving me the run around and ignoring my requests for a cancellation. I originally tried to cancel my account a couple of months ago by e-mail. They informed me that I had to submit a cancellation request through their website. I have submitted a cancellation request through their website SEVERAL TIMES since then. They never sent me any kind of response or confirmation, so I assumed (wrongly, I guess) that the account was cancelled, but they keep charging my credit card over and over.
I have requested again that the account be cancelled and told them that I would simply perform a chargeback since they are basically billing me for a service that I have continually requested be cancelled via their own online cancellation form using their own process for cancelling accounts. Nick Hudson @ HostNine's response to this was to threaten that they would send attorneys and collection agencies after me. All while claiming that it is "NOT hard" to cancel an account. I agree with them; cancelling your account when the company will actually deal with you should not be hard.
I had two websites on hostmonster for over a year and last weekend they migrated my site without a proper back up and completed DELETED both of my entire websites along with 900 other websites. If you have had problems with hostmonster in the last three years, please get in contact with me to join a class action law suit against them. They are claiming zero responsibility for the horrific act. Not only do they expect us to rebuild our websites at our expense they are expecting us to be o.k. with the loss of revenue this has also created. Hostmonster generates millions of dollars each month in revenue. Corporate america - enough of your passing the buck. It's time for us to stick together and make they pay for their mistakes. One of my customers faced a problem to send emails from one of his local mailboxes to another of his local mailboxes! I've just recently installed Plesk Panel 11.5. Previously I was using a basic IIS Mail Server with the current server allowed to relay messages for my Web Sites.After installing Plesk, I went to Tools & Settings -> Server-Wide Mail Settings. In there, I have relaying set to Authorization is required (SMTP) and for the relay access I have the following 3 entries:

Whenever one of my sites tries to use this server now to send out mail, I keep getting the following error:Mailbox unavailable. I have a issue when i try to start the DNS bing server over my vps with Centos 7 and plesk 12 its shows me this error

Until recently, it seemed like everything I read about a server indicated that Apache was king. I have never read anything that has given me any reason not to use Apache.
However, about a year ago when I discovered Django, I discovered Lighttpd. From everything I've been able to read, Lighttpd seems to be a better web server, but still don't know very much at all about Lighttpd.
I'm fairly comfortable with Apache, although I've never cared much for it. I have a feeling that I'll like Lighttpd quite a bit more from the very little that I do know about it. I'm wondering if I should even consider switching.
For one, it seems that everyone knows how to work with Apache and Lighttpd seems to be far less common. Apache also seems to be much more established which leads me to believe that it's a safer choice. Nonetheless, I still really want to give Lighttpd a shot. And, judging from what I've seen about Django and Lighttpd, Lighttpd seems to be a better choice when working with Django.
What do you think? Should I stick with Apache since I already know how to use it? Is Lighttpd worth the time to learn or is Apache just too good?
I wanted to know what do you prefer as server apache or lighttpd , though I am running lighttpd and have no issue except that there is too much work for mod rewrite and it effects search engine, so I was thinking to use apache instaed of it will it be possible to install apache over lighttpd or will I have to go for fresh install.

My VPS is running LxAdmin on CentOS and I have lighttpd installed. I've read I need to edit lighttpd.conf but I don't know which application I should use. The file is located in /etc/lighttpd/ but have no idea how to gain access.
I keep getting a segmentation fault after a few hours when I leave lighttpd on. It doesn't seem like much resources are being used and its serving about 60mbit/s. There's nothing in the error or log file.
I'm using CentOS 2.6.18-92.1.13.el5

I've actually been having this issue since I've moved to lighttpd 1.5, 1.4 was working fine but I need the features in 1.5. I've tried changing the event handler and network backend to no avail.
How can I at least find out what's causing the error?
I just recompiled PHP 5 with MySqli in cPanel and Mysqli is working fine under Apache, but it doesn't work under lighttpd. I can see the MySqli module in phpinfo when I run it under Apache, but there's no MySqli module when I run it under lighttpd. So how can I fix it to use MySqli with lighttpd?

Having constant and random downtime with Lighttpd being that for no reason connections get refused and my server load is low, that I think maybe get Litespeed.
I believe my server is an Intel Core2Quad Q6600
I think its only got 1 CPU in it.
What license do I need?
