Can't Run PHP Stable With Versions Above 5.0.3
Windows 2003 IIS6 PHP 5.0.3 and PHP 5.2.1 running with the ISAPI dll MySQL 5.1.11 I kind of have 2 problems, the first being the one in the thread title and the second is while running any version of php my main site experiences slowdowns and hangs. For some reason whenever I try to install a new version of PHP I have major problems. I have tried several times when new versions come out. I just recently tried the newest, 5.2.1, which I want to try and use, I think there are performance improvements for IIS and windows platform in the new 5.x versions? Anyway I can install 5.2.1 and get it running, and my sites load, but soon after my main site starts to hang, stops loading or loads extremely slow. I can't figure it out. I even tried using the exact same PHP.ini settings from my old working php install. So everytime I am forced to go back to the latest version that I know works with my server/sites, 5.0.3 [url] If I restart IIS the pages start loading fast again right after, even recycling the worker process that the site uses usualy makes the pages load normal again. I tried setting the worker process to recycle every 60min and to use 2 web gardens. These changes havn't really had any affect for better or worse. Downgrading back to PHP 5.0.3 seems to run a bit more stable, but even with this version I get these slowdowns now. I have been running my site(s) on this server for 3 years now and most of the time they have ran stable. -------------------------------------------------------- I was sleeping this morning and recieved a text-message saying the site wasn't loading. So I wake up and the site indeed was pretty much not loading at all. I look at permon that I left running to see this: [url] I give IIS a restart, which you can see above, then the levels go back to normal, here is a screen shot a couple minites later to what the "Current Connections" graph usualy looks like when the site loads fine. [url] During this slowdown the CPU usage was not maxing out, was maybe averaging 60% and ram was 50%. I am getting a 2nd server soon to off-load the MySQL to it and have it dedicated for that. But i don't think that will help this current issue. Here is the system resources when the site is loading fine: [url] I have around 40 or so other sites hosted on IIS and my main site "canadaka.net" which is purple on the top graph, is the only one that hangs or slowsdown. When this slowdown happens to this site, all the other sites on IIS, which are on a seperate worker process, continue to load fine. I can't figure out why these slowdowns are happening.

Is Hosting On Vps Servers Are Stable
Well haven't managed hosting on vps machines yes so I am wondering that how much this type of machine suit for running a hosting business ? Very honestly I think that people use vps for temporary bases and later they move to individual servers. I will appreciate your opinion.

Are There Any Stable Cloud Hosting Options To Replace Dedicated Server?
I've got a dedicated server through Liquid Web. I can't say enough about how great the reliability and service has been since I switched over to them a number of months ago. Nevertheless, with the advent of cloud hosting, I'm intrigued by the idea of paying for what I actually use on a server rather than having way more capacity than I need 90% of the day. I've looked around here and there's a bit of talk about it but it doesn't seem like folks are scrambling into it and it also appears that the offereings are still relatively immature. I really don't have the time to devote to tweaking, etc or figuring out something really complicated. I'll stick to my dedicated server if it means tons of extra work or potential downtime or massive frustration but I wanted to get some feedback from the community about whether or not there are some stable cloud hosting options that are emerging that might be worth considering.

Windows VPS To Run ASP.NET 2.0 App: Managed And Must Be Stable
I need a Windows VPS to run ASP.NET 2.0 applications because my current provider is having some issues that keep my VPS down. As i am new to Windows hosting so i need a managed plan. Another thing is that it must be stable. I usually have VPSes with Knownhost and they are really stable ( just wish they offer windows vps ). I need something like them ( uptime > 99,99% ). CPanel Horde Vulnerability Found - Update Your CPanel
An arbitrary file inclusion vulnerability has been discovered in the Horde webmail application. At present, we can confirm that this security vulnerability in question affects Horde 3.1.6 and earlier. Based on incomplete information at this time, we also believe this affects Horde Groupware 1.0.4 and earlier as well (cPanel does not use Horde Groupware at this time). cPanel customers should update their cPanel and WHM servers immediately to prevent any chance of compromise. The patch will be available in builds 11.18.2 and greater (or 11.19.2 and greater for EDGE systems). The updated builds will be available immediately to all fast update servers. The builds will be available to all other update servers within one hour of this posting. To check which version of cPanel and WHM is on your server, simply log into WebHost Manager (WHM) and look in the top right corner, or execute the following command from the command line as root: /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel -V You can upgrade your server by navigating to 'cPanel' -> 'Upgrade to Latest Version' in WebHost Manager or by executing the following from the command line as root: /scripts/upcp It is recommended that all use of Horde 3.1.6 and earlier be stopped (on cPanel and non-cPanel systems alike) until Horde updates can be applied. You can disable Horde on your cPanel system by unchecking the box next to 'Server Configuration' -> 'Tweak Settings' -> 'Mail' -> 'Horde Webmail' within WHM, and saving the page with the new settings.

Transferring Cpanel Emails To Another Cpanel
I am in the process of moving websites and emails to a new host. I am doing the transfer manually because we are gradually moving different part of the site at one time to allow developers to work on new parts. I now want to migrate all of the email accounts off the old cpanel server to the new cpanel host. What files and settings do I need to move so settings are not lost, such as save mail and contacts?

i am now unable to remove subdomains for some reason, even though it says that it is successful. i added 2 parked domains that is to redirect to my main domain and it created the subdomain folders for me. i went to try creating a subdomain for parked.co.cc and tried to redirect it to my main domain. so example i created this subdomain: parked1.co.cc.maindomain.com in the list of subdomains table, i have: Subdomains: parked1 Root Domain: .co.cc.maindomain.com but however it should be: Subdomains: parked1.co.cc Root Domain: .maindomain.com how can i solve this? i just want to delete it now.. also for some reason my /cpanel and /webmail goes to my main hosting website url but not mine! so if i type www.maindomain.com/cpanel it goes to www.mainhosting.com:2093 etc!

This morning i was getting approx 5 - 10 new emails per hour (which is average for me) In the past 6 - 7 hours i have not received any email at all, no warnings from cPanel about a port being down or nothing, obviously im going to think it is strange, 10 minutes ago i took a look at the mail queue and saw over 200 messages in que to be dilivered, some of which are a week old, i tried to manually deliver a message and got an error saying an exim file was missing I know it isnt a hacker because its a new server, and i havent accessed the root files at all since i brought the server, i had to recreate the file and chmod it, and lost 7 hours worth of mail (then lost 30 minutes of time reading them once i redelivered them manually ) Anyone else found any bugs in cPanel 11.4 we need to know about?

Vista And CPanel A No Go ?

SSL With CPanel
I'm having big trouble trying to update an SSL certificate with cPanel. I'm such a dummy that I've ended up buying 2 SSL certificates to see if that may fix it. I now have 1 certificate for www.mydomainname.com and 1 for just mydomainname.com I have logged into the account in cpanel and uploaded both certificates and when I view them in Security -> SSL/TLS manager -> Certificates They both display the correct host, correct issuer, and correct expire date. But when I try to visit my site using https I get: The certificate expired on 4/8/2008 7:59 PM. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

I would like to know what is the difference in cpanel between a full backup and a daily or weekly backup, and how they work together. I was under the impression that a daily backup was a backup of all the files at the end of the day but apparently according to my host this is not so, and Im a bit confused as to what is the purpose of the daily and weekly backup.

Dedicated IP(cPanel)
I have a VPS with a few IP addresses in the pool. I am creating new users with a dedicated IP for each one. Scenario: There is a user (call it john999) with an IP address assigned (different from the main shared IP). So, john999 has several scripts, one of them is mail();, another downloads some files from other servers etc. Problem: When a script that belongs to john999 communicates to the other servers, they see the same IP address (I guess our main shared IP) that they would see if that script would belong to joss888 or root111. Are there any settings (apache, bind, cpanel or smth) I can change so each user gets the full 'control' over its IP, is fully responsible for it and does not 'share' it with others? All accounts are shared cPanel accounts.

CPanel Vs H-Sphere
I've used cPanel in the past and was happy enough with it, I liked having fantastico but on a resller account didn't like that my other sites were more like subdomains and would even show up in searches as such. Does anyone have experiences (good or bad) with either or both? Would having one or the other be enough to make you go with one host or another? Ive been having some issues with my cpanel lately... it seems everytime I add an account via whm or a subdomain via cpanel it locks up when "Restarting Apache" I have 2 identical servers, 1 runs fine... this one though ive reinstalled apache...multiple times with no results... now im reinstalling cpanel and it seems forzen at 50% and just says Apache ... ... ... ... for about 100 lines.

PAX And CPanel
Anyone here use PAX in their kernel builds? I've been trying to find a setup that works, but with no luck. stability wise. I can run CPanel fine with just about any PAX setup, but after awhile with some settings the server eventually will get a load of over 250 and 1000 processes like it's not able to terminate them, or turn 4GB ram into like 3.2GB ram.

Backing Up In CPanel
I have a cPanel control panel for my site and noticed the backup feature. Now my site consists of a homepage and a vBulletin forum. If I use the cPanel backup feature will this backup my entire vBulletin forum as well? I just want something where I can backup on a weekly basis with a click of a button if possible. CPanel Vs Plesk
as a newbie moving up to VPS hosts from shared hosts. I'm looking for a bit of advice on which would be the best to go for.? i have used cPanel before & found it very easy to use, BUT have never used Plesk, only via their web site using the Demo panel & also found it easy to use... what im looking to host is a small community forums & hopefully a small game server on the same host to run ET "Enemy Territory" Ive been told that ET can be installed on cPanel easily but when looking at the demo of plesk in Modules, it shows a couple of game servers but not ET. could anyone please say if plesk is also capable of running this game or not.. also as a newbie which of the 2 control panels would be the best for me.?

we have a client transferring to us from hg, they have created a full backup from cpanel and we have tried restoring it from whm all the databases, domains and folder structure is restored fine the error is that all the files are restored to a cgi-bin not the corresponding folders. how we can fix this or a easier way to transfer a hg account
