File Server With CDP/ Or Some Version Of Inhouse Snapshot
We have a immediate need for a fileserver with some sort of CDP/snapshot backup offered on their own internal *lan* It will be primarily used as a file server with multiple developers worldwide . Can anyone recommend a hoster with this. Reliability and Quality. Not necessarily a requirement, but the person managing this *would prefer a Plesk CP*. Looked at softlayers offerings and while it's fair for what it is....at their pricepoint, we would just setup one in a DC. It's moreso a immediate need that does not allow this.

Yum Install Php Or Manually Install Php
What difference between yum install php or manually install php from scrach (build, make and install)? I know manually install could configure lots of parameters and paths, like --iconv, --mbsting, etc. I don't know anything behind yum install php. Today I found some cstomer on the servers make a link for named it file.txt and link it to other customer php file. so that customer have the ability to show the other custoer file content when visiting the url because it is a text wile originally it is a php file. the php file was a config file, so now he know the database password , and because he is in the same server he can use that databse. the question , how to avoide this prolem in the future? notes , the SuExec is rnning and the open_basedir protection is enabled, but the problem still exists.

Host For 10 SnapShot Webcams
For the last two years I was on a local DSL provider plan that included a the use of a personal webspace/webpage that I could upload pictures to, and have people see them. Well I took it one step further and started using my webcams to FTP Upload Images every 20 seconds to my personal webspace/webpage. Currently I'm using 13 webcams to FTP Upload my images that update every 15-20 seconds. This worked great for a very long time until I upgraded to a new broadband provider in town who told me I could get; 16Meg down and 2Meg up. Considering my old DSL provider only gave me 3Meg down and less then 400K up, I jumped ship to the new broadband provider. Little did I know what would happen next I started my new account on the new broadband server, started FTP Uploading my webcams when I noticed a message coming back in the log and the uploading webcams freezing up. The message in the logs was this> 'FTP Finished:orry, you may not connect more than three times'. A call to the new broadband provider help desk confirmed my worst fears. They only allow a total of three (3) people or devices to connect, or FTP, to my new personal webspace/webpage. My older DSL provider never had a problem with me connecting all my webcams to their server and I had 5-15 people regularly tuning in to watch the webcams from all over the world without a hitch. I was paying for just a basic residential DSL account too. Unfortuantely, I cancelled my account with the old DSL company too thinking this new broadband company would work wonders for my site, downloading, and etc. Boy, was I ever wrong. So, here I am everyone. I'm looking for a Web Host that can handle me uploading about 13 different webcams at 15-20 second intervals and then disconnecting. There is No Streaming done. These are just simple Logitech and Creative CCD Webcams that take a snapshot every few seconds, FTP'ing the images to the server and my webpage for people to view. The images are displayed on a simple written Java HTML Webpage. Very basic stuff, seriously.. I know next to nothing about HTML, but it works. I hate to go back to my original old DSL Host because of the slow 3Meg down, and less then 400K upload, just to display my webcam images as I successfully did for the last two years. Now here I have this fast broadband connection of 16Meg down, and 2Meg up, and can't really use it now for my intended purpose. I don't really need a lot of storage space, nor emails accounts, and etc. Currently I use under 18Meg worth of space on my personal webspace/website. I just need to be able to do my FTP Uploads with my webcams and also able to have people view those uploaded images without the server saying: 'Sorry Charlie'. Any idea's where i can find a Server Host that will allow my FTP Uploads without costing an arm and a leg. This is purely a hobby for folks enjoying my camera's here in Minnesota.

PHP 5.3 Install On IIS7
I have installed PHP 5.3 and set it up using the FastCGI method as that seems to be the prefered method at this time. I have verified that php is set up correctly as i am able to run scripts from command line. However I can not for the life of me get any php file to display in a browser. I have verified that the .php extension is in the list of handler mappings under PHP via FastCGI. Also verified that the handler was pointing to F:PHPphp-cgi.exe which is (re-verified) the location of the php files. I have tried all the tricks that i have found on the net, but still nothing. I have installed the php package via the windows installer and the binaries. both same outcome. I even tried to step back a version to php 5.2 and still did not work. Am I completely missing something? I have a PowerEdge T410 Server running SBS2008 x64 and IIS 7. In the beginning it was just showing php code, now it continuely asks if i want to download or save the file when i try to browse to a php file via browser.

i was wondering if this would be difficult to install on a server? I don't have any server experience. But we do have a network tech that will be doing it for me. I made a request to have WordPress installed on our servers at work. He stated taht it would take a lot of work reconfiguring the server. I don't understand why unless he was taking about install Apache which is not required. it will run off IIS. About how long would it take to configure PHP and MySQL to get it ready for WordPress?

CPanel DNS Only, Now Cant Install PHP, MySQL Etc
i am running a VPS and recently installed cPanel DNS Only so it can operate as a standalone DNS server. I would also like to serve standard webpages on it via apache and php, i therefore tired to install php, mysql etc via 'yum install php' but it says there is no package to be installed. Cant Install WHMCS Because Of An IonCube PHP Loader
I have just moved to a new VPS and i'm trying to reinstall WHMCS. Every time I try and open the install.php file i get the following error message Site error: the file /home/***/public_html/***/install/install.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator. Long before I even downloaded WHMCS i rebuilt Apache in WHM and included IonCube. I have recompiled it again more than once but still am having no luck.

Php File Corruption
I have a Linux VPS with Liquidweb which is working fine except for one problem: On one domain I have a shopping cart (a highly modded CubeCart). A number of the files are encrypted php files (part of the extensive mods). For several weeks all will work fine, then out of the blue, the cart will stop working because a number of the encrypted files have become corrupt. The result is either a totally blank page or a 'checksum error'. Uploading the files from a local backup fixes things for another few days or weeks. I have no idea why this is happening, or what triggers it, so if anyone can point me in the right direction to find out what is behind the problem, I would greatly appreciate it. The server uses PHP 5.2.x

Move Full Apache/php Install To Another Server
Is there a way to tar a compiled apache/php installation and move it to another identical server? If on the first server I specify all the configure options for both apache and php to point to /usr/local/apache2 for example, and then tar apache2 dir and untar it on another server will everything work just like it should? Or do I need to compile apache/php from scratch on the second server. It would be nice to just be able push the apache/php tar file on to the new provisioned server and be ready to go. Has anyone done this before, what is the best way to do this and are there any issues to look for.

PHP Permissions (file Owner)
I have setup an ftp user which can upload files to /home/ftp/upload and obviously it assigns the ftp user as the owner when it uploads. Now, I want PHP to be able to rename those files, but getting a permission denied, presumably because apache aint the owner or doesnt have permission to do that, so how do I grant it the right permission(s)?

Mod_rewrite - Changing Paths In The Php File?
I am using mod_rewrite to create "pretty" urls but some of my files contain paths such as this: <img src="images/blah.jpg"> Meaning if the user visits a page where the file does not physically exist then it won't work. I want to know if it is possible to pick this up and rewrite the path. I.e.: change: <img src="images/blah.jpg"> to: <img src="../images/blah.jpg"> or <img src="../../images/blah.jpg"> As I don't want to create physical files with relative urls for every trunk of my url. For example: www.mydomain.com/directory/directory/directory/ Would need 3 different files in three different directories to display properly.

Prevent PHP Files Used For File Uploading
It appears that some people like to take advantage of those files for online web applications such as Wordpress which have php files with permissions set to 777. They use those as a means of creating an upload file. The upload files that they create then have access to the whole server somehow... Is there anyway of preventing this from happening?

Chmod Choices With Php Writing To A File
My account has been hacked with every index.php page defaced. I've cleaned up and my shared wehost is pointing at me saying there shouldn't be any 777 permissions for any files in there. I used 777 to allow php to add records in a txt file and in an xml file. Is there a better / more secure chmod code I can use? Those are the only two instances where I need php to write to a file and those files shouldn't be served to anyone, I do not want anyone to be able to access them. How can I secure them while letting php write in them?

Php.ini And .htaccess File Permissions
I'm on a shared FreeBSD server, running Apache with Drupal, and vBulletin. I had to create a local php.ini file in my public_html folder for Drupal, and another in my forum folder for vBulletin. Now my question is, what should I set the permissions of these files to? Also, what should I set .htaccess permissions to as well? I'd like to keep them invisible to the public. But, I don't want any problems with Drupal, or vBulletin ether. I'm used to using Linux and I know how permissions work on a desktop. I just don't know what they do when used on a server. I'm guessing 640, but I'd like to make sure before I change anything.

Simpleish PHP/flat Files - Create File, Edit, Save
Display some text in a web browser from a file called text.txt text.txt will have many lines and some of them I do not want users to be able to modify and overwrite. config_item_1=user can edit config_item_2=user should see but not edit (could be on any line) config_item_3=user can edit config_item_4=user can edit The user has made their changes in the web browser and clicks submit. I then need this info to be saved as the text.txt file however some checking needs to be done first. Anything matching config_item_2 should be removed. This could be on any line. Anything not matching should be permitted and added.

Proc List Only Shows "/usr/bin/php" - No More File Names
We use cpanel on our centos servers and we've updated our servers recently using easyapache to the latest php4 and mod_suphp and I've noticed that in top (running "top c" in shell) all php processes by any user are simply displayed as "/usr/bin/php" Before this update the processes also showed the file name eg. "/usr/bin/php lamescript.php" which allowed to easily find troublesome scripts ... but now there's no way of knowing what the script in question is that's eating up 100% of the cpu .. or is there?
