i have a server with centos,
i need to edit the hidden file .htaccess from the file management tool of cpanel,
but the hidden files not shown,
ow can i modify the setting and let the files shown in the file management tool of cpanel?

Customer Has Problem --- Index File Wont Show
One of my customers has been having a problem with his index files not showing up. It'll display the parent directory, and you can clearly see the index.html file in there, but it won't show it as the index. It happened in one directory, and I went into .htaccess and did DirectoryIndex index.php.... but now i'm wondering if its part of a bigger problem, because its happening to other folders now.

on my old centos servers I can show hidden (.file) files with normal 'ls' and 'ls -l' command but on new I can`t show hidden files on that way, I must use command 'ls -a' to show that files! Links Files In Linux (file.txt For File.php)
Today I found some cstomer on the servers make a link for named it file.txt and link it to other customer php file. so that customer have the ability to show the other custoer file content when visiting the url because it is a text wile originally it is a php file. the php file was a config file, so now he know the database password , and because he is in the same server he can use that databse. the question , how to avoide this prolem in the future? notes , the SuExec is rnning and the open_basedir protection is enabled, but the problem still exists.

Hosting Account Management Tool
What do you use to manage all of your hosted accounts? We have 2 servers, and about 95 clients. We bill our clients yearly. I cant seem to rely on plesk or cpanel for billing renewal dates, owner, etc. IS there a program out there to help me see what account is due when, etc? Also who the owner is. Ideally, Id love it o track by server, or view all, as well as show expiration notifications. We are just to the point where managing these on excel is getting messy.

Intel VPro/AMT - Management Tool - Remote Installation Of Windows / Linux
good remote management solution. As the Intel vPro chip set looks very nice and has all this, what we need (remote power management, hardware analysis/informations, kvm, etc) we bought one main board with that chip set. We had now the problem to find a software which has a good support for the Intel vPro chip set. We found and tried: Intel AMT Developer Kit LANDesk Microsoft System Configuration Manager 2007 SyAM Software The onliest software, which was install able and connect able at the moment, was the Intel AMT Developer Kit. Software like LANDesk and MS SysConfigMgr needs Windows Server Versions with and without Windows Domain. We succeeded (after fixing the requirements of each software) to install everything, but no software is able to connect to the vPro chip. Only the Intel AMT Developer Kit does. The Intel AMT Developer Kit looks on the first look enough anf powerful. We can power on, off, reset, we see hardware informations, we can enter also the bios over remote console. But as soon as we want to start remotely a cd, for example simple memtest86 image, it doesn't gives any display. Does someone of you has good experience in this system? Has someone some suggestions, what software else is existing? We want to manage linux/unix based and windows as well. With manage we mean, to install and to maintain. If here is some company, which can help us, also if it costs some money, we would be glad to get in touch.

Collecting Data From A File On Another CPanel Account
I have a problem with a function on my cPanel server where one client is trying to collect informations from a file on another account on same server. And this suddenly stops to work. Once reboot of the server corrected the problem but it is back after just couple of days. Here are details. On account www.BLUEaccount.com there is a file index.html and within this file there is a code: $fcontent= file_get_contents[url]; and the problem is that index.html file on BLUEaccount.com is not loading because it seems can not collect data from data.tmp file from REDaccount.com But when we take this data.tmp file directly into directory of the index.html file on BLUEaccount, everything work OK.

File Sharing
I tried searching for this, but haven't found the solution. I currently have a VPS I'm not using for anything else, so I thought it would make a good file server for sharing files between my home and office computers. Ideally, I'd like to do this via SMB/Samba so I could map a windows network drive to a directory on the VPS from both locations. I've set up SAMBA and it works great via the VPS (ie. smbclient returns that it is sharing the directory, etc...). The problem is I can't get either of the remote machines to connect. I read about a way to do tunneling in PuTTY, which worked. In essence I created a Microsoft Loopback device on the remote machine and ran putty forwarding the samba share port. This worked perfectly, in that I could type "10.0.0.1" (the MS loopback interface) and access my VPS shares on my home machine. However, this isn't ideal, as you have to keep PuTTY running to be able to access the shared drive and you have to keep a live SSH session going. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to cut out PuTTY from the mix and just be able to do "vps.hostname.comsharename" directly from both the home and office machine. I gather this would be trivial if my home machine and the VPS were on the same network. Would a VPN solution make sense here? Any good recommendations? I think a VPN connection would be much easier to setup and deal with than the SSH tunneling solution. Searching on here revealed adding a line "hosts allow" with the remote IP into smb.conf; however, that did not work for me. It's still as if the remote machines cannot see the VPS through SMB.

Cant Download File
I have just performed a ftp backup of my entire server. I then zipped it up in Cpanel. The file size its self it 3322megs big (about 3.3gb). If i press it to download it says: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /backup/sepmid07/sepmid07.zip on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
