View 12 RepliesI have about 5 sites all hosted on my same hosting account. One of those domains is attached to the hosting account. I place my other domains in a folder of a sub-directory of my main domain. This has been working fine, up until today when i noticed a weird error. I give you a little example of how my sites are setup
my main domain:
www.maindomain.com
My other sites hosted in a sub-directory of my main domain:
www.maindomain.com/sites/site2/
www.maindomain.com/sites/site3/
How my other sites appear on the web:
www.site2.com
www.site3.com
This works fine for every page until i go to www.site2.com/index.php
It redirects to www.maindomain.com/sites/site2/index.php for some reason
I want to know if there are any known honest review sites which contains real feedback from users and unbiased reviews?
Besides WHT and WHREVIEWS.COM.
good server setup review sites, such as most optimal setups for mysql driven sites, best value setups and so on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am interested in your suggestions as to what I should do. I need a setup that will allow me to host several sites. They are mostly my own and low traffic. I do not offer hosting to any other folks, if so, i will set the sites up myself. I need mysql, email and virus checker, php, and firewall. I would like unix/linus hosting and am used to cpanel. Would prefer east coast hosting since many sites pertain to local areas there. I was thinkg of a reseller or webmaster package.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWell i design websites for people and they ask where should i host the site and i can get email and ftp and a cpanel and so on and i just let them host it on my account on free web hosting provider but i currently have 1 site hosted on my server which is running on windows server edition 2003 and it gives me the option to add another website how would i do that using the same ip?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 TV link sites similar to tv-links.cc etc. Does anyone know where I can host such sites?
I know there are some legal issues with those sites (in certain countries) so I'm not sure who can/will host them.
I'm currently at FDC,
For hosting smaller sites 10-20 pages with low niche traffic would it be better to host them individually on small hosting plans or would it be to your advantage to host themt together on a dedicated server?

There insn't anything abnormal in his sites. main page it's like sitemap, where are lister links to secondary pages (html static pages).

Will this be okay to host around 10 websites? I am knowledgeable in Hosting hardware.
Here I am thinking about sites that are in top 10K according to Alexa. If yes please list few of them here...
View 10 Replies View RelatedHi I've never worked with a dedicated host, and I was considering going with hostgator, because they provide managed hosting and cPanel, which I'm fond of.
This is not for my own sites, but for someone I work for as a programmer/webmaster. He has asked that I make the decision on this, even though I've basically advised against it, due to my lack of experience with dedicated hosting.
I've also looked at lunarpages, doesn't seem to be much different than hostgator. Here are links to their pages...
http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

Does anyone have experience from either of these? I don't think the sites hosted on the server are going to be particularly high bandwidth sites (I don't really think they even need a dedicated host) ... do you think we'll be okay with a single 2.8 Ghz processor?
Also, does anyone have any advice as far as the number of sites hosted on the server? He wants to move ALL of them to the same server. Any thoughts on whether or not this is a good idea?
I know I've asked a lot here but I'm really getting into new territory. If you can provide any input on ANY of the above items, I'd greatly appreciate it.
i just want to know which hosting provider is best for flash game site? fast and cheap fees!

View 24 Replies View RelatedAs a domainer I have several domainnames I like to add to a hostingaccount.
Many of the domains will have a blog or minisite.
At this moment I have a shared hosting account with unlimited domains.
But for seo reasons it is better not to link the domains/urls to eachother cause they have the same IP.
What can you recommend me to have all the domains on different IP's?
Or is there another way to do this,I heard something about c-class....
If I have to put the domains on different IP's on my shared hosting account I will have to pay $2,50 for an IP per month, this will be quite expensive.
Do you host your hosting company's sites at your competitor's company/servers?
Eg. You sell VPS, your company site is hosted at another VPS provider..
is there any webhosting companyes you know, which have no government rules?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI say relative, because I have built several websites in the past, going back to 1998 or so, but have never really pursued it heavily, and only recently have decided to get into the game on a more proactive scale.
In searching for a web host, I run across common TOS which seems on the surface to exclude what I want to do, which among other niches I've got in mind, include investing (gold, real estate, forex, commodities, etc.).
Maybe some of the hosting vendors here can help me with clarification. I do not want to host an investment platform, like a stock or forex trading platform. I just want to publish info sites with affiliate links to the investment products I deem worthy.
Any problem with that? If so, does anyone know of good hosting for such sites?
I've perused many hosting forums lately and find this one to be among the top of the top! Good job WHT owners!
I work for Microsoft. Used to be a regular participant on Web Hosting Talk a few years ago (then moved over to Europe at that time). I've been doing some work recently that has led me back to the community here to ask for some input on where administrators of Windows-based hosting services go to find technical information.
How often might you use the following two Web sites?
1) [Hosting Solutions on TechNet]
2) [Windows Hosting Discussions]
I've just re-registered a new account so I have to do the five post thing before I can insert links, otherwise I'd to a direct link to the two above. If you're not familar with them, just do a Web search for those phrases and the sites will be at the top of the list.
Are there other Web sites that you use regularly for technical information on operating Windows hosting services? Or do you mostly just enter a phrase in Google and temporarily use the Web site/s that come up in the search results?
If you have current experience with hosting Gallery2 photo sites, please give us your opinion on hosts.
Gallery2 is PHP and MySQL based.
I am looking at a few customers (schools, sports groups) who would eventually have 2 to 5 GB of photos, but fairly light hits (Students, Parents, Friends). This would not be a NFL site! But responsiveness is relatively important.
Medium-cost (Say up to $15/M) shared hosting probably? Looking at maybe Hostgator, HostMonster, A1WebHosting. Your experiences/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
My current site on (!PowWeb) is passable, but I want these sites ElseWhere...
I am just wondering what is normal when you point a domain name to a folder on an existing hosting account, as far as the urls in the address bar go?
I have my own website which has mega space, and my host allows up to 5 domains to be hosted in folders...so I thought I'd host b/friend's new website there.
His site is a WordPress installation.
I pointed the A record of his domain name to my hosts ip address , and it resolved fine. However, when I click on any of his articles, the full url of mysite is displayed in the address bar of the browser, which I don't want.
I've never tried to host another site on mysite before and just wondering what is normal as far as urls go? I'm thinking I've either missed a step somewhere, or it's a WordPress thing, or a host thing, or it's normal and I'm wasting my time trying to find a fix.
The ideal situation would be that the full urls of his_site are showing in the browser address bar.
Is Godaddy cool for the casino review/sports betting review site?i searched a lot and submit Godaddy a ticket, still dont dig out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI run a Free web hosting service on my server with XPanel script installed. It has around 47K accounts in all. Recently i started getting mails from e-bay, banks and many other institutions regarding the Phishing sites operating from my server for cheating their customers / members. Though i removed them but i have to do it manually and after getting mails from them.
Now that i dont want any more such site to run from my hosting site, What are the options available for me in order to check all accounts automatically and remove any such site on its own? As there are 47K accounts and 100+ new signups each day, it is not possible to check all accounts manually.
I want any script / addon which can check all possible Phishing / Spamming / Spurious / Fraud sites and intimate me/ delete them upon request. Any person using such services? I need your guidance + support.
Looking for some fast and effective answers from experts here.
Does anyone know of a hosting Linux package (must be UK based) that has the usuals (PHP, MySQL, subdomains, email, Apache ModRewrite) that is geared towards hosting lots of low bandwidth sites?
I use several great hosters but they limit the amount of addon domains or charge you through the roof for extra ones. I'm thinking a package that will let me do 15 - 25 domains. More would be a bonus. The bandwidth allowance is not a problem. A lot of my customers' sites use less than 100 MB a month.
MonkeyWrench Hosting review - Three year review
I've been hosting my personal sites with MonkeyWrench Hosting for around three years now (coming up in January I believe), and I figured I'd share my experiences with them!
I've gone through a few hosts in my time, and some of them have been pretty rough. After using paid hosts, a niche free host started up that I stayed with for around a year before they eventually closed down.
I switched to MonkeyWrench Hosting at that point as a place to host my sites and store my files, and I have to say that I've been impressed throughout the time I've been with them.
Uptime/speed:
Fantastic! The sites have been perfectly reliable and speedy whenever I've gone to access them, and I haven't had any complaints from users. I did come across MySQL going down on one of the servers (I have two accounts for different purposes that are on seperate servers) in the past, but it was resolved quickly before I even needed to get help.
Support:
I've used the support a few times, but not for anything critical since there's not been the need. However, everything that I have asked was answered promptly in a professional manner.
Pricing:
Again, no complaints here. The pricing is pretty cheap, especially for the quality of service receieved. They aren't the cheapest on the Internet by any means, but you generally get what you pay for. I'm aware of what my realistic space/bandwidth needs are anyway, and I'd rather pick a host that clearly advertises what you'll receive over an 'unlimited' host.
All in all, MWH have been a fantastic choice and I couldn't have hoped for anything better.
So, thumbs up to Jonathan, and keep up the good work!
I'll report my domains for the moderators to check them out. =)
I'm trying to find at least three web hosting companies to choose from to host a Joomla websites on a shared server. Would consider dedicated if the deal was right. I have a friend of mine who wants to create a church website, and is looking for the best deal. I use Netfirms which I have never had an issue with, but I didn't want to be bias, and would like give him other options to choose from.
Is there a good WebHosting Review site, I could check out, or maybe someone could recommend their top three. I reading threw the forums here and I noticed there are not that many complaints with Hostgator. Again, I just want to see if there was anything out there better.
I just received two e-mails which may be some new kind of phishing scam. Full text at bottom. The message describes the beginnings of a "site upgrade" for my web sites, but it's not from the company that does my hosting.
I received this for two sites that I have hosted with EZpublishing. I'm having terrible problems with EZpublishing; they lost most of my databases last Friday, have failed to respond to a trouble ticket, and phone calls divert to an answering service. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They may be going out of business and selling their remaining customers to another provider. So a message regarding migration to another host isn't unexpected.
But the message below looks phony. First, they know what my domains are, but they don't apparently have access to any of my customer account information.
Second, "easywebpublishing.com" doesn't have a live web site at it, just a sort of "coming soon" page. The WHOIS info for the domain shows ownership by "Internet Names for Business". "megawebservers.com", from which the email originated, is sort of a skeletal web site that looks like a hosting provider, but doesn't have any real info. "megawebhosting.com" WHOIS info shows "Moniker Privacy Services", which usually indicates a bottom-feeder if not a scam.
Anyone else see anything like this? .....
Being a small business which is dependent on word of mouth i always try myself to post reviews of other companies when possible.
Signed on with [url] sometime back to give them a shot after seeing their signature here on WHT.
The sign-up process was very simple and fast.
They accept all major billing methods.
I submitted 2-3 tickets over a course of 6-months.
All of them where general questions, nothing was wrong with the service. There response time each time was under an hour.
The servers are always up and and the company notifies of any updates regularly.
Im very impressed with this company. Since ive signed up i havent had to worry about a single issue or downtime. Been with them going on 1-year and i have no intentions of ever switching. Best experience i have had with a hosting company so far.
