Is there a way to see what was happening on the server the last 24 hours for example in WHM ? A log or something.. To see if there was any high loads etc..
I am interested in knowing how to get rid of all of my information from the computer. When i search for things, my old searches appear and thats not good cause I am at work I need to know how to get rid of the evidence. I tried the Tools >> Internet Options >> Delete Cookies - Delete Files and - Clear History but it still appears with all of my old searches. Why Why why? Note, this is not for the browzer, this is for a form such as the typing area on google.
The Past Month (23 of July) i purchased two Mini VPS to check KnownHost Performance.
Great.
Yesterday I Begin to think in move some VPS with them, and i enter to check my VPS, and Are DOWN. No Notice emails, no nothing.
I Write to Support, and some minutes later they pass me to billing. Then i realize Immediatly the problem. One Partner of me, is a verified Paypal SPANIARD with vacation in Mexico, she Pay the Two Invoices, and Maybe Paypal reverse the payment.
Can someone tell me how to clear the history of a UNIX user? For example, when logged in as a certain user I can press UP to see the last commands that were used. How can I get rid of them?
Before I start on my review, I would like to say that I am not affiliated with FluidVPS in any way and am solely doing this because I would like to share my experiences with everyone.
I was one of the lucky few to be able to get a 'Free VPS' from FHDave (Fluidhosting) as part of their new promotion of upgrading hardware nodes.
My VPS has the following specs: 512 MB memory guaranteed 25 GB disk space 500 GB transfer bandwidth
When I just got my VPS I installed various applications such as Shoutcast and Tomcat simply because I could and I love it how it is automated.
My first ticket was a problem getting Shoutcast to work, and so I contacted and placed a ticket. Even though my free VPS was unmanaged, I still got them to help me which resulted in a simple restart of the server.
All was good for a few weeks until my forum was hacked one day (my guess was a weak password and some skiddie got access) which caused damage to my forum. After getting pretty worried I contacted Fluidhosting to find out if my VPS could get hardened I was prompted to pay since my VPS was free, it was 'unmanaged'. They did link me to their knowledgebase for tutorials and I applied them. Thinking it was enough I gave a sigh of relief and carried on with my life.
2 weeks later I was prompted with my VPS becoming compromised (someone hacked the VPS and used it to host an eBay phisher). Even though I had been told my VPS was 'unmanaged' they helped me with getting my VPS reprovisioned. I changed all my passwords to numbers and letters and that was the end of that.
I did have some problems with their Parallel Power Panel and HSPC although I cannot link it to the hack attempt. What happened was I was unable to restart the VPS and it would fail making my server go down. I submitted a ticket as well as contacted their live chat service and they tried fixing it. It didn't work and had to get help from the developers of the panel. However after a few hours my VPS was back! (I was asleep when it happened )
There were times during my hosting where my bandwidth had nearly been used up and my webspace being completely filled. I have found that some hosts oversell their resources and when you haven't used a quarter of the limit they suspend your account. This was not the case with Fluidhosting. My VPS was often always full and yet there was no problem. I have even used it to host torrentflux for my own usage and that was fine too.
There were times such as the VPS being compromised where Fluidhosting and their staff could have just suspended my account for good, and left me because of my website being too much trouble. They stuck with me to the end and helped me all the way. Their support is quick and helpful (gets the job done, real initiative there) and their live chat isn't just a salesperson.
My past 6 months was one heck of a journey, and it would have not been possible if I had not gotten a top notch service provider from Dave and the team. Thank you for an awesome opportunity to try out VPSes for a change. Once you use VPSes there's no going back!
I will be paying another 6 months with you guys (if all goes well at my end).
Sorry if this isn't quite 'a review', more like past history of my webhosting
So in short: Service: 9/10 Resources: 10/10 Support: 9/10 Uptime: 10/10
Our Server doesn't show the Traffic History under "Tools & Settings -> Summary Report -> View Traffic History", but for every Domain it runs.
We Migrate this Server from a Dedicated to an OpenVZ Server - on another Server with OpenVZ its running without Problems, but this one we don't migrate.
I can't get access to a certain site. I always get the page with:
network time out - server at *** takes to long to respons. More people have noticed this and apparently it only happens to people with certain specific providers. And not all the time. Some times they DO get access eventy to they belong to the same ISP. So I guess an ISP isn't blocking access to it otherwise it would be permenantly/The site administrator insists that certain ISP's are blocking his site. He's hosting it on his own server. The domain belongs is registered at namecheap.com.
If an ISP is blocking this site (if that's possible?), that would lead to that 'network timeout' page wouldn't it?
What is the most likely reason for getting a timeout page anyway?
I have a dedicated server specs: AMD 3500+ 64 Bit CPU, 1 GB Ram, 160 GB Sata Drive. For 1 month, CPU load average reaches 40-50 value. This happens about 5-6 times in a day. When I stop httpd service for 30 seconds everything goes normal. I think this is not a DoS attack because it comes systematic, I dont believe no one makes this regularly except bots.
Maybe its a system service or a cronjob but it stops when I turn off httpd service? How can I be sure about what's making this regularly load?
I also did set up a script which mail me when load average of system goes crazy and restart httpd service. But instant restart is not working to stop load increase.
The server is going down from time to time, every 12 days or so the site hosted there is no longer accesible, everything starts with the site slowing don and down and then is not longer reachable, what we do is to request a power cycle, and with this we start all over again till next power cycle, so on so on, of course, here are my server details and more info on this:
- MySQL - 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10 - Apache - 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.4 - PHP - 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.9 - operating system: Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS
After some time emailing the support guys to barely check about what's going on, we received an email with a few things:
1.- found a few errors that likely would cause issues with Apache. The first error is: [Mon Feb 04 05:03:10 2013] [error] mod_fcgid: fcgid process manager died, restarting the server and the next error is: [Mon Feb 04 14:32:34 2013] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting ...
Both these errors seem to indicate that you have a process that is running out of control on your server. We were unable to determine what script on your site is running caused your connections to be maxed out however it does appear that before these errors were generated there was a WordPress plugin referenced in your access logs...
2.- Additionally during our review we did find that your error log for mercadodedinerousa.com is 45 GB's which is excessively large and can cause problems when Apache is trying to write a such a large file.
3.- The majority of the errors being logged are: [Wed Feb 06 12:12:31 2013] [error] [client 200.76.90.5] Options FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch is off which implies that RewriteRule directive is forbidden: /var/www/vhosts/mercadodedinerousa.com/httpdocs/index.pl, referer: [URL]
I have a server with RHEL 5 installed. The problem is that the server shows the output of the hostname command as (none). I checked the /etc/sysconfig/network file and it shows the correct hostname. I also tried to change the hostname in the /etc/sysconfig/network file and restart the server. But hostname command still shows (none).
I am running into a few problems when it comes to using the above command. No it is not being blocked in the php.ini file. The issue has to do with permissions. On my old server everything worked fine until I moved over to this new server.
$who = shell_exec("whoami"); echo "$who";
When I run that commend on the old server I got that users username. Which, makes since as that means anything created via PHP would be owned by that user. In fact, every other host I know of was like that. But, on the new server when I run the commend it shows up as "nobody". How can I fix this so my commands will run properly for me and my users?
I like the functionality of iStat for mac as it shows just about everything needed. Is there any software that I can see the rw speeds of the HDD's? I was on google, but couldn't find anything useful for my exact purpose.
Can anyone direct me to a site that contains web hosting/web designer trade shows for the US? We came across Hostcon already and are trying to find more of the same.
Im currently running cent0S 5. I recently just installed Squid Version 2.6.STABLE6 for a client to enable him to use as proxy. However it seems that sites like whatismyip.com and ipchicken.com are resolving back to my clients IP address and not the servers.
There is only one IP on my server and I think the problem may deal with X-Headers? (correct me if I am wrong)
Is there any way to use the server IP address for when my customer is using the proxy server.

My VPS is setup and now when I did a dnsreport for my site, it shows:
Number of nameservers ERROR: You have 2 nameservers, but both are on the same IP! This is not a valid setup. You are required to have at least 2 nameservers, per RFC 1035 section 2.2.
Is this a big problem?
The report [url] also shows other failures. Are there any critical ones that I need to take care of? How do I do it?
my server is jammed and takes minutes to load simple pages, can you please take a look ath the following image, its show under "CPU %" for mysql 177, does that mean mysql is using 177% of resources of cpu?
