Good ColdFusion, Adult, Fantastico, And Co-Location Hosts
Dec 8, 2005
I was wondering if I could get some information from those who frequent this site. I'm looking for some good hosting companies that specifically deal in some niche areas. If anyone could point me in the direction of some hosts with an affiliate program and deal in either ColdFusion, Adult, Fantastico, or Co-Location hosting, That would be awesome. The hosting company needs to be an overall good company as well, so if you've worked with a great company, or heard good things about a company that deals in the above categories, please respond to this post.
I'm looking at setting up a couple of adult sites (a forum and an image host) and was wondering whether anyone could reccommend any good companies from the UK to go with?
I already have a web account with a shared web host. My site is growing. I want to buy a new account with a different web host but I'm afraid that the servers will be slower (the specs are better, but maybe it has more sites hosted on it or they are dishonest etc.?).
So, when I buy the new hosting account, can I simply copy and paste my site over and see which server serves the page faster? Then I should be able to decide which server to associate the domain name with...
I find that I like using CPanel with addon domains in a new unlimited domains shared plan rather than using WHM with each name having its own CPanel in a reseller plan (which I have been used to until now at another host). The only problem is that all the addon domains are out of order - they are not even in the order in which I add them. This puts a damper on things and makes managing them much less efficient than one would expect with the addons in order.
After putting in a support ticket, I was told they can't do anything about it at all. They told me the order of the listing is the order in the "mail server apache configuration."
After posting this matter here in the Apache forum, I have been informed by an SP member that the answer I got wouldn't hold any water at all, or more accurately, consists of a whole lot of smoke. As a person who knows how easy and basic it is to sort data lists or drop-down form selector fields myself, I must admit that it's hard to believe nothing can be done in the 21st century.
I have no desire at all to go with another reseller plan, and like using CPanel instead with addons.
Does anyone know of the good and well known unlimited domain hosting providers who keep the addon domains in order within CPanel? Is there any other good option for shared hosting that doesn't involve using WHM and does offer common sense multiple domain management where everything is in order?
Just a question about hosting your site in the same country where your main targeted visitors is located. It is my belief that I should host my sites in the same country where I the targeted visitors are. Am I correct in saying this??
So.. US Focus Site should be hosted in the US Canadian Focus Site should be hosted in Canada And UK Focus Site would be hosted in the UK??????
I have a VPS and when I signed up I was told by the provider that the server was based in a UK datacentre. However, I've just done a search on the IP address for my VPS and it comes up as 'The IP address is assigned to France'.
Does this mean the server's actually located in France?
I have a dedicated server right now running PLESK for Windows and MS SQL 2000 w/CF MX 6.1
We're in the process of migrating to a NEW server that will be Windows 2003 R2 64bit.
Do we need to buy CF 8.0? Or can we use CF MX 6.1 still with the new 64bit OS? We also planned to load up MS SQL 2005, any issues with CF MX 6.1 and SQL 2005?
Thank you for any feedback, trying to avoid the $650 upgrade to 8.0 as we are fine with the current functionality of 6.1. If we are forced to u/g for interoperability I guess we won't have a choice...
Anyone here have any experience with coldfusion? Im substituting in for our IT guy who is on holidays and Im having some problems with our coldfusion server.. the dam thing is "hanging".
Its on a win2k3 box, this box also runs our fileserver/domain controller and a few other things..
The box itself dosnt have any problems, Domain controller/fileserver never hangs... just the coldfusion pages.. All im doing is stoping and starting the service to get it going agian... but i need to find a real solution...

a host that t supports both PHP and Coldfusion for legacy app that we need to support. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a host that supports both of these.
Are there any recommendations for reasonably price+reasonable Coldfusion VPS providers?
I checked out the following: - HostMySite (tops my list at the moment) - MediaTemple (not yet offering CFM hosting) - PowerVPS (not offering CFM hosting)
A customer of ours is looking to use ColdFusion and MS SQL 2000.
Our VPS provider does not provide for ColdFusion or MS SQL so we referred them to another host. This host is unable to properly configure for their needs, and we are standing by the client to assist until everything is working properly.
Can anyone recommend a good host who provides cold fusion / ms sql plans using VPS?
Is this too much to ask and should they be looking at a dedicated server?
Well when it comes to anything that isn't windows hosting, I'm pretty knowledgeable about but when it comes to windows hosting I'm clueless about it as I pretty much never have any need for it. One of my business partner is looking to place there site on a more affordable hosting since there current rate is pretty high.
They have a simple site, which they are really not looking to get much traffic or use anymore then 2gigs of space. Probably needs at least one MS SQL Database and that's it. No more then 5gigs of bandwidth. All they want is something for show thats it, other then that they don't utilize the site for anything.
Can anyone recommend a good host for this with 24/7 live support?
my dad hired someone to build a web site for one of his clients and the guy used codfusion for the forms. I should have just built the site myself, but time is money and I have little time. So, is it possible to install coldfusion on a linux server RHEL3 with cpanel? I've got 3 other dedicated servers as well without cpanel that are running centos.
We had a Coldfusion site running MySQL without issues. We are in the process of doing some upgrades and as part of that we recently switched over to MSSQL 5. Ever since that happened, we will have random page hangs. This usually happens on pages with more complex queries, but it is very random. There is no timeout error on the server, no page cannot be displayed errors, no errors of any kind, the page will just hang. We have been monitoring our server resource monitor and we can see when the page 'gives up', we will go from 100% CPU down to almost 0, and then the page simply never recovers. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? When there is no error message of sorts it makes it very problematic to troubleshoot.
We currently have a dedicated development server with our company's host (not hostgator) in which we are charged a decent amount to have on a yearly basis. I was looking to cut down costs and wanted to see if it would be feasible to have a windows box we have in the office setup as our development server. We would install windows 2003 on it along with anything else we need. The current development server is hosted under a IIS 6 / Windows 2003 / CF 7 Environment. If it is doable, what kind of problems would we run into vs having it on a real server? It would only have at the most 3-4 connections possibly once or twice a week so speed is not a huge deal.
Also, how tedious is installing, setting up and migrating everything over for the MSSQL database going to be?
Some of our customers needs Coldfusion MX 7 on a RedHat Enterprise 4 Linux Server that comes with cPanel. At [url]I can see there is support for RHES 4, but will it cause any conflict to install this app in the same server that cPanel is installed?
Ok well I am considering adding Installatron to the selection for my VPS clients, and was woundering what people thought of Installatron vs. Fantastico, and if you are a VPS provider, how many would go with installatron over Fantastico?
I recently had Fantastico update issues, my fantistico was giving me errors such as "This feature is currently not availabel, please contact your host." lol
I tried lodging a CRON job to do the update ...but waited 72 hours and nothing ! lol
Later i found our that the Fantastico licensing server was down for a while lol
