FileZilla Client And FileZilla Server

Apr 4, 2008

What is the difference between FileZilla Client and FileZilla Server?

I'm using windows vista ultimate 32bit. What was written on the filezilla page is that FileZilla Client is for all platforms and FileZilla Server is for windows only.

Windows 2008 Permissions And Filezilla Server

Jun 26, 2009

I'm running FileZilla Server on Windows Server 2008 Web Edition SP2. Everything works fine but I need to figure out how to make FileZilla set permissions on a file after its uploaded.

What is happening when I upload a file to the web server using through FileZilla Server the only permissions set on the file are for
SYSTEM
admin
Administrators

So when I try to access the file through a website I get a 401 - Unauthorized error and I have to go through and manually set the permissions every time on the server.

I need to find out how to make FileZilla setup the correct permissions on the file for the IIS user. Any help would be appreciated.

My Sever setup
DotNetPanel
IIS 7.0
Windows Server 2008 Web Edition
FileZilla Server
8GB Ram

Pure-ftpd + Filezilla = 1 Hour Time Offset

Apr 7, 2008

Timezone on server is set to GMT -5 EDT
My timezone is GMT -5 EDT

Yet filezilla 3.x ftp client connected to my server's pure-ftpd server offsets time on transferred files by an hour, saying now at 8:52 that the file was uploaded to the server at 9:52.

WHM and uptime, etc. at the SSH prompt show server time correct, matching my own time.

But connecting via filezilla 3 I get:

Status: Calculating timezone offset of server...
Command:MDTM .htaccess
Response:213 20080208013750
Status:Timezone offsets: Server: -18000 seconds. Local: -14400 seconds. Difference: 3600 seconds.
Status: Directory listing successful

If I connect locally to pure-ftp via the server shell ftp, I get
Connected to localhost.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
220-You are user number 1 of 50 allowed.
220-Local time is now 20:52. Server port: 21.

which matches

$ uptime
20:52:28

The filezilla forums however indicate the problem is due to some "non-standards compliant setup" of my ftp server.

[url]

Quote:

As required in RFC 3659 [url]FileZilla assumed MDTM returns timestamps in UTC. Based on the timestamp return in the LIST reply and the corresponding MDTM reply, it calculates the timezone offset of the server.

Obviously this fails on broken or misconfigured servers.

I can assure you that it works fine on all standards-compliant servers.

Is there something I can tweak with pure-ftpd, or is this a Filezilla 3 bug?

DB Server For Remote Client/server App

Sep 19, 2008

if there are any hosts you would recommend working with for hosting a DB app (MySQL or SQL Server is fine). The trick with many hosts is that the database is not made directly available to remote clients due to security reasons. What I'd like to do is provide the DB hosting for a client/server application we are developing. For many of these users, setting up and managing a database will be too complex, so I'd like to provide the hosting for them.

Additionally, we'll be starting small and will need room to grow -- probably up to fully dedicated hosting.

So -- any good experiences out there with this kind of hosting? It goes far beyond the usual specs of bandwidth, disk space, etc. into needing low server densities, high availability of the DB service, and most importantly, no plans to block remote access to DBs in the future...

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: How To Access Backup (Server Repository) Via FTP Client

Oct 22, 2014

I host a number of large sites (20GB+) on my VPS server running Centos6 and Plesk Panel 12. Due to the large sites I don't want to keep multiple backups on the actual server because it would take too much disk space. When I create a backup to the server's repository all is good, but when I click the green arrow to download the backup it takes a long time and then it fails with a timeout error. On some smaller sites it takes a while but eventually downloads the tar.

So my question: Is it possible to access the Server Repository via FTP? How and where would I set this up? Presumably it would be a better way to download these large archive files?

The last packet sent successfully to the server was 60.410.687 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'auto Reconnect= true' to avoid this problem.

PPTPD -- Client Cannot Anything Other Then The PPTPD Server After Connect

Jan 8, 2008

I'm having a problem with PPTPD.

I can connect to the server fine but after connecting I cannot access anything other then the server's ssh.

I currently tried the following:

arp --set 192.168.11.100 5A:82:AC:3D:B9:FD pub
192.168.11.100 --> Client Allocated Address by PPTPD Server
5A:82:AC:3D:B9:FD --> MAC Address of PPTPD Server

iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT
iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT
iptables -t filter -A INPUT -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -t filter -A FORWARD -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT

Currently no luck at all.
