I'm trying to set up netscape as my mail client and set ingoing/outgoing server info to mail.mysite.com but there is always a message "connection to mail.mysite.com timed out." anytime i try to read a message.

We're an ad agency in the very vertical market of Recruitment Communications.
We've developed an employment site that we host on our Multi-site account.
They have today requested a quote on what it would take to create 100 email accounts for their various employees and administrators on this employment site.
I initially think we tell them in the proposal that having their employees utilize webmail for their accounts would be least problematic (read: least cost support) for them. It's still going to present a bit of manual labor on our part creating the names, but not too daunting.
The client has no experience on staff that would be able to undertake the task as outlined above, so naturally we're concerned that their needs are indeed met in the best possible way.
One of our company's goals for all of our clients is to, as much as is possible, Under-promise/Over-Deliver. But as we're not specifically a "provider" in the typical sense of what they're asking, I am also thinking that it might be better for both the client and ourselves to examine whether this is a feasible undertaking.
If we were to undertake this 'project', and this is something you've experienced or read about, might you care to offer guidance on what guidelines we should assert/set-up? Web-mail versus Pop? Pricing structure? Support fees? Etceteras, etceteras.
I basically bought a HPS Complete VPS hosting account with EuroVPS and i am having problems setting up an email client as no web mail client comes by default with that plan.
I asked the eurovps support team 2-3 times on how to set up MS Outlook as my email client for my domain and they answered the same thing and it's not working.
I was wondering,if anyone of you have HSP Complete VPS hosting account with euroVPS and is there anyway to have webmail.
As per there documentation,i am using the following:

email:user@mydomain.com
smtp&pop3: mail.mydomain.com
smtp port: 25
pop port: 110
Selected to use authentication for outgoing server and checked the option to use same authentication method as incoming server,
Deselected SPA authentication scheme
I did everything as per the documentation they sent me but it's not working,
I have completed email set up on my server and have checked that email ports are open, but for some reason outlook keeps returning : "Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that you DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct."
The odd thing is that outlook still picks up emails if I receive any, but keeps returning above error every minute.
In plesk9 my customers had the option to send daily usage reports by e-mail. Only certain clients like this option. Using plesk11 I cannot find this option if I log in as a client. Has this feature been removed? And if so, can the administrator enable this option only for 1 or 2 clients?

I've got cPanel 11.24.5-R37127 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9
CENTOS 4.7 i686 standard on server
A hosted client suddenly can't log in to her cpanel. I can login just fine with her user/pass and another gal can too. But she can't. She says it just keeps asking for the password over and over.
I had her clear her cache and cookies, and reboot her pc, but that did no good at all.
Might this be a server issue or a browser issue?
I like to know is there any open source mail client that i can install for my site (e.g. mail.xxx.com) so i can access my email which is created using cpanel.
At the moment i access going through Mail in Mac OSX and when I'm not home through cPanel.
Now my site online users went more that 200,my max client is 200 now server load slow can i increase the max client to 250,

I have a 64bit OS so I have to use Vmware 32bit os to use the program and my firewall is setup to be open for that particular VM but still it cant grab an IP. Ive left it enabled for around 30 mins it doesn't time out or stop or error. Someone else uses it who is in another location and was in the system yesterday so I'm not sure if she had any issues but said she had no problem getting in so it must be my setup.

Every time I have done sites, they already had hosting.
What shall I do? Because they expect me to organize their hosting so I am confused. All I know or can guess is, it is a media site so bandwidth will be high.
All of sudden my ftp client cant connect to my servers at all. It just says server connection closed.
And i try to reconnect, same thing.
Whys it doing this? It hasnt before.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy company runs an extremely successful ecommerce website but we are currently unhappy with our current provider for reasons I will not list here. We are looking to move to a carrier neutral location (possible switch and data because it is in the same building) or other options are Equinix and?.
The problem is going from one provider and a /29 to trying to balance two or three providers. No one is going to do bgp with someone only using three ips. We have 2 cabinets with 40 servers (60u total) but most everything is nat'd.
What options are available? Management wants 99.999% uptime (yes i know unrealistic) but downtime is lost $$$ when 100% of sales come from the web. They are willing to pay to keep downtime at a minimum. Multiple data centers around the country is planned for later in 2008 or early 2009. Server cost is not the problem but making the website and back end databases work in a multiple data center environment is the problem.
Any suggestions? Is Internap a possibility? During my searches here at WHT, I seem to see either Equinix, Server Central, or SteadFast mentioned as the favorites. Pricing looks fine at Server Central and it looks like they may have their own network. Steadfast pricing is cheaper but the amount of outages in the outage forum scares me.

i am using tomcat server and am running a web application. I am trying to capture the clients ipaddress who ever are accessing my server. i used the method request.getRemoteAddr() .but i see always 127.0.0.1 instead of the clients ip address.i tried accessing my server from different machines having different ip address but my logs show me 127.0.0.1.
i guess something is wrong with my tomcat configuration.
I just had a client whose hosting account was automatically suspended due to him not paying the hosting bill. He opened up a ticket and asked why his site is suspended. I informed him that he didn't pay the bill and the system suspended it automatically. I told him that the system generated e-mails as well and he said he didn't get them while I looked in WHCMS, it said it DID get sent to him. Client said his website was DDOS'd because it used 3 GB of BW in one month and i told him there was no DDOS attack. The kind of site he had (100+ users online at one time, vBulletin forum), it was common to use that much.
The client is now saying that he is going to hack attempt the servers to see if they are DDOS Protected or not. Of Course, my servers are protected (WiredTree), so should I be worried?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have SSL enabled site on IIS.I want to access it from my PocketPC(Win mobile).But when I try access it, I have been prompted to install a certificate.
Unlike when I try to any HTTPS site (Banking sites) I have never been prompted to install any certificate.
Why am I being prompted with security message with "Yes,No,View certificate" options on it every time I try to access my own server(desktop) via my WIN mobile using active sync.
Unlike When I try to access banking site(https) I was never ever prompted a mesage like above.
How to have same functionality for my application also?
I have set up a ftp server for my clients to upload files.
I have setup 2 users, client and administrator.
When a client logs he uploads his files to a folder called upload_files.
But he cannot view files in that folder.
If I log in as administrator I can see all the files and folders.
But I can only delete files uploaded to the upload_files folder.
If the client uploads a folder with files into it, then I cannot delete it since the folder owner is client.
Ex:
/upload_files/image.jpg Can Delete
/upload_files/new_folder/image.jpg Can't Delete
Clearly a hosting company can choose whether to have a client forum or not, but do you think they should have one?

ssh is driving me CRAZY right now... On an almost stock CentOS 5.1 install (inside a Xen VPS, though), I changed sshd to listen on 2222 instead of 22 and restarted sshd.
All of a sudden:

I should note that I'm actively logged into that IP in another window, and that it responds to ping. There most certainly is a route. Yes, I've quadruple-checked that I have the right IP. And I use the -p2222 daily to connect to another machine. This is a virgin CentOS install; I just changed the "Port 22" line to "Port 2222" and restarted sshd (/etc/init.d/sshd restart).
I am not behind any sort of firewall, unless CentOS installs one that I don't know about. (I own the physical hardware, not just the virtual machine.)
I figured it had to do with this error in /var/log/secure

I’m trying uploading about 40 files of different sizes for a total of 2.5 GB overnight via FTP to a shared hosting provider.
I start uploading at night when I check in the morning only few of the files are uploaded for the others I get fail transfer disconnected from server.
I tried this few times with different FTP clients and different transfer modes but I get the same result.
Does a VPS client need a cpanel license.
Or do the HOST'S give them certain access through the HOSTS cpanel/WHM
