Bluescreen On Win XP Accessing Localhost
I just installed IIS on my Windows XP machine and any time I access localhost I get a bluescreen and my computer will restart. I have tried to uninstall IIS, reboot, re-install, reboot then try accessing localhost and that does not fix anything. This is on an almost fresh install of Windows. (The computer is only 1 week old)

Accessing Our Server From Some Locations
Few months back we migrated to a new server (Layered tech Savvis to Databank) All has been running smoothly, better than before the move. Over the last week we have had reports from a few clients in various locations across australia and a few in the uk that they can not access the server. The DNS is resolving correctly for them and traceroutes have not proven anything. Layered tech have not been real helpful, eventually they put me onto their network department who ran a global test which came back as the server being accessible from everywhere. Accessing My Server From The Internet
when I install apache on my machine I can open up port 80 on the router and allow outside access. But, now here is the issue. I have a p4 server which connects via ethernet to my apple mac. My apple mac connects to the internet via wireless. My apple mac has web sharing activated so the server can access the web. The server has OpenBSD 4.3 installed without X. What I want to do is get my server online. It's IP is 192.168.2.4, my macs IP is 192.168.1.1. In the router configuration how would I set it up? Would the router see 192.168.2.4?

I'm wanting to access one of my MySQL db's on my VPS (WHM/cPanel). Specifically, I want to connect to the db from Excel and pull down certain data live. I've set up my IP address for remote access in cPanel. For my centos box I use PuTTY and that allows me to get into the server and make any changes I need. I am looking at getting a second server, this one a Windows 2003 machine and I was wondering how you mange those servers remotely. Accessing Shared Folders
I have server which all files and folders are stored on. Now there are a couple of folders which are only accessible by one machine at present and all the other machines when they access the folder it is displayed as empty. I have checked all permisions and all machines viewing of files settings are the same and folders accessible by all machines have the same settings as the couple which are only accessible from this one machine. If I copy and paste the folder all machines then have access to the folder from although this would be a lengthy exercise for the full hard drive.

I have a mySQL db on Host A and I want to be able to access its data from Host A/B/C/D/E. Questions: 1. If I have your typical reseller account with WHM and CPanel, would I just use localhost for each site on Host A or would I only use localhost for the domain it is on? (Assume mysite1.com and mysite2.com is on the same reseller account, and the db phpmyadmin is at mysite1.com/phpmyadmin.) 2. For Host B/C/D/E, how would I let them have access to the mySQL db on Host A? Do I just add them to the Access Hosts section of the Database Manager section of CPanel? Would that involve putting each IP address in there or its nameserver or what? Would a wildcard be useful here?

I have a reseller account that uses WHM/cPanel. So of course, SquirrelMail and Horde are already installed. I like to check my email at work, but unfortunatley, my employer blocks connections for say mydomain.com:2095. Is there a way around this? I'm too much of a noob to try and install Horde again, bypassing the cPanel. I use Horde as the example because I need a good calendar and address book.

Multiple Server Accessing Files
I have one server right now and will be adding a second server in the next 4-5 months. In the meantime I've upgraded the coding in my community site to act as if there is already two servers. Mainsite.com has all the php files, and a separate HD for mysql db only, [url] has all the user images and videos. This problem I'm having right now is the permission to delete files from [url]via [url] What I've Tried: vsFTPd - it has a small footprint but its not reliable, needed to be restarted a few times while testing on the beta site. usermod - this is messy, changing chmods, owners, grps... etc I tried all of that but still had problems getting the Mainsite to be part of the group without having to change all the chmods and grps. NFS mount - haven't tried yet... Does anyone run a multiple server site? My sites pretty big been around for 4yrs, and i've upgraded servers 3 times since then. If i can't get this to work right my final option would be to continue to upgrade to a new server each year, everytime a bigger and faster server setup becomes available. Current server Dual Xeon 5310 4gb, 3 x 146gb scsi/sas. The server is doing fine with this setup. But with the new site uprade and features it's going to top things out. I can keep throwing ram on the server and move mysql off site. The site has little over 1mil users with about 60-70% of them being active daily...

I am redoing a website that is currently being hosted by some shady company that is completely unreachable. I have the ftp server info and password, and I am trying to get on using FileZilla, however there must be something incorrect because it is not letting me access the site. Is there anyway I can host this website using the same current domain, even though it is already being hosted by this other horrible company? The person I am doing the site for has been trying to contact the company for months to cancel hosting, but they are not responding. I have a client who insists they have seen it done, but I cannot find a way to find IP address ranges from just a certain city (I don't even think that exists?) I'm used to CPanel in which I can access phpMyAdmin without getting prompted for an additional login. With DirectAdmin, when I access phpMyAdmin I get a popup asking me for username/password. We have an internal server running Red Hat 8 or 9 that was taken offline at least 18 months ago. The guy who set up the box is long gone. Unfortunately with him went the root password. I currently have an Apache server running PHP and Mysql on my MacBook Pro. I also have a copy of Parallels running, which hosts a Windows OS. In OSX, I have multiple VirtualHosts set up, and they all work great when accessed from OSX. All the sites are within my "Sites" directory. Now, when I browse to my Macs ip address in windows, I only get shown my Sites folder, and get shown the directory. How would I be able to access these local sites as I do in OSX? This is on a local machine (not tied to any domain names) and I'm only doing it to research how the final structure of a site 'could' be setup. Basically I have a single install of Apache 2 running. The outcome eventually should be to have specific sub domains that all point to the same document root as the actual domain name. Malicious Mail Sent Out Via MailEnable On Localhost
we received a report of a malicious mail being sent from our servers. Problem is that the sender and recipients are not hosted with us. What I'm trying to find out is how the mail got sent out. The ME logs shows that the connection was made from 127.0.0.1 to the smtp service, but that's it. We don't run mail services (pop3/imap/webmail) on the web servers, if that helps any. Have run out of ideas after sifting thru lots of logs (was trying to find if anyone called an application to send the mail and attachments out), but came up empty.

I've been using Dreamhost for years and they're very good, but their MySql databases are quite slow. Then I moved to ServInt with a VPS, and my MySql is on localhost instead of on a different server. Do you guys know anything about this? MS Virtual PC - How To Access My Localhost (Apache) Subdomains On Guest OS?
I've just downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC and the Internet Explorer 6 Application Compatibility VPC Image containing an XP installation for testing sites with IE6 [url]. Everything works fine, I chose VPC Shared Networking (NAT) and I can access the internet from the VPC as well as my Apache development server which runs on the host OS (Win XP) by going to the host's IP address which is [url] in my case. And here I have 2 problems: 1. I want to access [url]on VPC just by typing [url]. I added the following line to the hosts file: 192.168.52.141 localhost But this doesn't work. Interestingly, any name other than localhost works fine, for example: 192.168.52.141 localhost.localhost or 192.168.52.141 local This is not a major problem but I'd prefer localhost. Installed Apache Can Access Via LAN IP + Localhost But WAN IP Doesnt Work
I'm on windows vista. I've got an SDSL line into the house with a dedicated IP 62.etc. I've then got a Prestige 791R and all PC's plugged in to that. I've also got a wireless router for my Wii set up. Basically I've set up this DHCP thingy to start at 192.etc.3 and the Wireless router is at 192.etc.1 and the Prestige is at 192.etc.2 my pc is at 192.etc.9 This is about where my knowledge stops unfortunately. I have installed apache as the most basic default install I think you can and it seems to be working absolutely fine. I'm assuming I could also install PHP and MySQL etc and wouldn't have too much of a problem, however, my friend cannot seem to access the environment from the WAN IP and when I type in my WAN IP I get the prestige router's control panel. I read somewhere that I needed to forward port 80, now I can 'open' ports in the prestige control panel but I did try opening port 80 in the control panel and pointing it to my LAN IP (92.etc.9) but it didn't seem to work. I'm at a bit of a loss so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful, just to clarify: //localhost loads the html file 100% //192.etc.9 loads the html file 100% //62.WANIP internally loads my prestige routers control panel //62.WANIP externally does not load a page (cannot be found) If you need any more info just let me know and I'll get it.

McAfee On Win Server Has Taken Over
On a Windows server, VirusScan Enterprise suddenly started blocking e-mails from web sites. I check and find the "prevent mass mailing worms from sending e-mails". OK, i edit the rule and add php-cgi.exe to the list. After some time, when of course we have lost some clients' e-mails, it reverts to blocking php... Then I disable the rule and again after some time it reverts to block... This is on going, I have stopped access protection for the time being till I find out how to convince it that it has to keep the settings I setup!

what level of hardware/hosting plan I need for one of my clients. Current stats: ~65 ecommerce orders per week ~5000 unique visitors per day Requirements: Win2k3 ASP.NET 3.5 MSSQL 2005 My first recommendation to them was RackSpace due their good reputation, but they were not able to pay for the plan suggested to them by RackSpace. My other question is what type of plan do you guys recommend based on the above stats/requirements (managed/VPS/dedicated/etc.)? VPS is what came to mind for me since we'll probably end up using this setup for more than one website/domain and since they are so price sensitive. I'm fairly comfortable setting up and administering Win2k3 and MSSQL. I'm sure that plays into the choices a little. I know there is probably some information I have left out that would help you guys make a recommendation. Please just let me know what else would help.

in ssh i try create new database root@server1 [~]# mysql -uumar_cs -ppassword umar_cs </home/umar/public_html/localhost.sql it is show direct ERROR 1044 (42000) at line 21: Access denied for user 'umar_cs'@'localhost' to database 'umar_cs' i try from script same message i think maybe the problem from the size in this file /etc/my.conf set-variable = max_connections=500 i change to set-variable = max_connections=500M and restart mysql and i try create same problem!

Ffmpeg-php - Need Help Installing Under Win
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone have installed ffmpeg-php under windows successfully or you might understand how to do it? By default it's for linux, but there is a version for win made by some guy/guys to be found here: ffmpeg google groups Problem is, I don't understand how to install? Could anyone explain, thanks! Edit: Got it to work! avcodec.dll (copy to WindowsSystem32) avformat.dll (copy to WindowsSystem32) php_ffmpeg.dll (php dir) Add: extension=php_ffmpeg.dll <- to php.ini All the other files confused me
