127.0.0.1 Works But Not Localhost
I just installed wamp here on my laptop to set up a developer machine for my website. I am used to going into the browser and just typing in "localhost" and having it bring up the test website. I'm sure there is probably something wrong with the configuration of the wamp files because it works for 127.0.0.1.

I have problems configuring some ports and rules on CSF on a cPanel server. Port 37500 is used by a Java web app, so, i opened both tcp incoming and outgoing ports: Code: TCP_IN = "20,21,22,25,26,53,80,110,143,443,465,587,993,995,2082,2083,2086,2087,2095,2096,37500" TCP_OUT = "20,21,22,25,26,37,43,53,80,110,113,443,587,2087,2089,2703,37500" Then.. to allow access from the server IP and localhost, added this at csf.allow: Code: tcp:in:d=37500:s=127.0.0.1 tcp:in:d=37500:s=my.server.ip.address csf.ignore: Code: 127.0.0.1 my.server.ip.address And to deny all access to the server on that specific port (except for the ones I whitelisted before), added this to csf.deny: Code: tcp:in:d=37500:s=0.0.0.0/0 Result = no one can connect to the server on that port, not even from the web app itself, it's not connecting to the port 37500. How can I configure port 37500 to accept local connections (from the web server) and deny all external connections?

Yesterday I had to install a renewed SSL Certificate. Managed to get it installed, in Plesk under domains/www_mydomain_com, but I also deleted the default SSL from the server/certificates area... So then I was getting an dns 500 error when browsingour site and I could not start httpd from within plesk. Went in through SSH and tried to start it from there and got and error stating it could not find the SSLCA cert it was looking for. So I edited my httpd.include file to point to my new certificate. Now http works, but my email has stopped? What gives how could the two be related! Configuring Subdomains In Apache On A Localhost
I'm currently trying to configure apache 2 to handle subdomains. This is on a local machine (not tied to any domain names) and I'm only doing it to research how the final structure of a site 'could' be setup. Basically I have a single install of Apache 2 running. The outcome eventually should be to have specific sub domains that all point to the same document root as the actual domain name. So eventually I will have: http://www.mydomain.com http://subdomain1.mydomain.com http://subdomain2.mydomain.com with both subdomains showing the content at mydomain.com (there is reasoning behind this but I'm not gonna go into that). Malicious Mail Sent Out Via MailEnable On Localhost
we received a report of a malicious mail being sent from our servers. Problem is that the sender and recipients are not hosted with us. What I'm trying to find out is how the mail got sent out. The ME logs shows that the connection was made from 127.0.0.1 to the smtp service, but that's it. We don't run mail services (pop3/imap/webmail) on the web servers, if that helps any. Have run out of ideas after sifting thru lots of logs (was trying to find if anyone called an application to send the mail and attachments out), but came up empty.

Fast MySql Access- Localhost
I've been using Dreamhost for years and they're very good, but their MySql databases are quite slow. Then I moved to ServInt with a VPS, and my MySql is on localhost instead of on a different server. WOW! It's so fast! However, now I'm trying to find a shared hosting package that has fast MySQL service. I'm not sure if the requirement is that it's on localhost but it sure doesn't hurt. Bluescreen On Win XP Accessing Localhost
I just installed IIS on my Windows XP machine and any time I access localhost I get a bluescreen and my computer will restart. I have tried to uninstall IIS, reboot, re-install, reboot then try accessing localhost and that does not fix anything. This is on an almost fresh install of Windows. (The computer is only 1 week old)

Can't Connect To MySQL Server On 'localhost' (10055)
Do you guys know anything about this? MS Virtual PC - How To Access My Localhost (Apache) Subdomains On Guest OS?
I've just downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC and the Internet Explorer 6 Application Compatibility VPC Image containing an XP installation for testing sites with IE6 [url]. Everything works fine, I chose VPC Shared Networking (NAT) and I can access the internet from the VPC as well as my Apache development server which runs on the host OS (Win XP) by going to the host's IP address which is [url] in my case. And here I have 2 problems: 1. I want to access [url]on VPC just by typing [url]. I added the following line to the hosts file: 192.168.52.141 localhost But this doesn't work. Interestingly, any name other than localhost works fine, for example: 192.168.52.141 localhost.localhost or 192.168.52.141 local This is not a major problem but I'd prefer localhost. Any ideas how to do that? 2. Rack PDUs At The Co-Lo? Zero U Never Works
I have had bad experiences with zero-U PDUs (i have only tried the APC ones). They keep getting in the way of equipment when you put them in the back of the cabinet .... I usually end up just having them standing up in the back of the cabinet and zip tie them to something so they dont fall down. Am I just stupid and using these wrong or do other people have this issue? if you have an extra long server that sits out the back it bumps into the PDU so you got to nestle the PDUs into a corner of the cabinet. What PDUs is everything using in various co-los? I might go with the 2U rack PDUs but with the need for 2 of them that is 4U wasted (and also since they are not very long you need some long cable runs for all of the equipment to plug into them)..

Volumedrive Works Slow
Does anyone have a problem with volumedrive with accessing your sites? I have a dedicated server (no load, consumes around 500Mbytes/month) but I my pages open pretty often slow. Today I even cannot open a page because speed is around 1byte/second. Yes, I can access my server, but I cannot wait when a page finishes loading. I wait and wait and wait. Ssh: Reboot Never Works
I'm finding that my server doesn't like to reboot gracefully. Either selecting "graceful server reboot" in WHM or actually typing "reboot" in SSH, which then tells me the server is shutting down. My server is then incommunicato indefinitely until I actually do a hard reset remotely. Is this common? Is there some way to find out why this is happening?

Two Version Of My.cnf, Neither Of Them Works For Me
I got two version of my.cnf, but neither of them works ideally. On one hand, If i used the old one, the swap memory will be used out after 5-7 days running and system halt. On the other hand, the second copy of my.cnf will cause too much pain on cpu, even traffic is low, cpu could up to 70 or 80 percentage and hanging there for 1 minutes. I did a lots optimization in the past (including httpd.conf, my.cnf, sysctl.conf ), and found that the only problem left on my server would be my.cnf, I have to get it right this time! SSL Certificates Works For Folders?
Say i have domain zzzzz.com and have some folders say a, b and c would ssl if installed for main domain zzzzz.com work for https://zzzzz.com/a and so on ? or would wildcard ssl be required for that ? And what if that /a folder is actually a subdomain, but since you can access subdomains via url/folder instead of folder.url would ssl work on it using url/folder option instead of subdomain url ?

Apache Works On WAN, IIS Doesn't
I am currently running a dev server out of my home. The setup is as follows: Server is Windows Server 2008. Apache is running, listening on port 88. On this, I have subversion and TRAC. IIS is running, listening on default port 80. On this I have an ASP.NET web site that pulls its code from subversion. Router is a standard Linksys WRT54G. Router is open as can be, just to test it. Server is in DMZ, all ports are forwarded to its IP (TCP and UDP), etc. This will change, but during setup state, it is what it is. default.aspx is set up as default document in IIS. Folders are mapped correctly. The file exists in the physical directory it's looking at. the only site and only Application pool in IIS are for the site in question. The issue: Both Apache and IIS work great on my local network. Both Apache and IIS work great on wireless network. However, in the wild, WAN works for the apache (port 88) but not IIS. Typing in http://[ip address]:88 or any of the subdirectories works fine. Typing in http://[ip address]/default.aspx returns, in Firefox, "Connection Interrupted -- the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". Windows firewall is disabled and unbound from all protocols. As specified, I've opened up the server and router as much as possible temporarily in order to allow me to lock it down again step by step once I have the issue solved.

Mail() Only Works With An Outside Email Address
lets say i am running the mail() script at www.testdomain.com - if i set anyemail@testdomain.com as the to or from email address, it will take 20-60 seconds to complete. If I use ANY other email gmail, yahoo, fake, whatever on either, the script executes instantaneously. What could be the problem? I am a newbie at all this and would appreciate any guidance I can get here as far as diagnosing, etc.
