I have configure my Apache to create rotated logs for every periodic time. It worked fine with my local PC, but when it is being configured on to a server system, the actual error.log file is not being update, only the rotated logs are created. If i remove the Error Log command from httpd.conf for Error Log Rotation, again it works fine as usual.

So I've set everything up manually a few times before now, but I got so bored of configuring everything for a manual install I just said screw it and used XAMPP this time - so my circumstances are not completely ideal.
Basically what I am looking to find out is how to improve loading speeds for Apache, PHP and MySQL on my dedi server?
The server I have is of the following spec:
Intel Xeon CPU E5-1650 V2 (3.50Ghz with 12 cores total)
64 GB DDR3 ECC
2 x 2TB SATA3 (RAID 0/1)
use Windows Web 2008 R2 so only 32GB of the RAM is usable.
With all the abive aside, here is the important part: Whilst people are browsing the websites I have configured they are random hit with a blank white page saying "Your request has timed out. Please retry the request." - I have about 100 unique hits daily and a lot of people report the same problem, and I have even had it myself.
It feels as if the server has much more power than Apache and co. is trying to utilize - what can I do?
The server is going down from time to time, every 12 days or so the site hosted there is no longer accesible, everything starts with the site slowing don and down and then is not longer reachable, what we do is to request a power cycle, and with this we start all over again till next power cycle, so on so on, of course, here are my server details and more info on this:
- MySQL - 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10
- Apache - 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.4
- PHP - 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.9
- operating system: Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS
After some time emailing the support guys to barely check about what's going on, we received an email with a few things:
1.- found a few errors that likely would cause issues with Apache. The first error is:
[Mon Feb 04 05:03:10 2013] [error] mod_fcgid: fcgid process manager died, restarting the server and the next error is:
[Mon Feb 04 14:32:34 2013] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting ...
Both these errors seem to indicate that you have a process that is running out of control on your server. We were unable to determine what script on your site is running caused your connections to be maxed out however it does appear that before these errors were generated there was a WordPress plugin referenced in your access logs...
2.- Additionally during our review we did find that your error log for mercadodedinerousa.com is 45 GB's which is excessively large and can cause problems when Apache is trying to write a such a large file.
3.- The majority of the errors being logged are:
[Wed Feb 06 12:12:31 2013] [error] [client 200.76.90.5] Options FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch is off which implies that RewriteRule directive is forbidden: /var/www/vhosts/mercadodedinerousa.com/httpdocs/index.pl, referer: [URL]
how to configure a periodic reboot, for example, each 4h the server will be reboot automatic.
i think i do configure a cron, but i can't find anything for periodic rebooting on freebsd.
this is a temporary solution for a issue of php.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'm looking for a nice and simply way of breaking up log files into smaller chunks.
I've been running apache2 on a VPS for the past few months and one of the access.log files is now 700mb big... bit of a waste of space. I'm currently just doing:
CustomLog /var/www/logs/domain.com/access.log combined
ErrorLog /var/www/logs/domain.com/error.log

I want to monitor errors . How can I have an error log file for each individual domain?
For the last week, my vps (directadmin on centos on xen) has become unresponsive every three days at approximately 5 AM, and I'm baffled about why. It doesn't crash, but it stops accepting incoming connections until it's rebooted.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. /var/log/messages gives no useful information. There are no unusual cronjobs running at that time.
Anyone heard of anything like this before or have any advice about how to troubleshoot?

what is happening to my server to generate these log entries?
I suspect that somebody is trying to do SQL injections on one of my websites. Is the POST information that is send using forms logged anywhere so I can read it in the same way I can read the GET requests in Apache logs?

It appeared to be an issue of cron run by their another client and after promising that they would move that client to another node (I have spent more than 25 days to follow up on this till now) they backed off from their words but informed me about an alternative. Now, they say that the cron of that client was executing many scripts and they have spaced those scripts.
I am looking for a long-term host and was wondering:
1. VPS provides a minimum guaranteed stuff so what is the use of that guarantee if one client can make the server crawl (imagine 5 minutes or more to open a site).
2. Can a host be trusted who does not honour words.
I need to disable apache access logs. I commented out the access log path in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and restarted the server but it's still logging access.

Since the change to apache 2.4.9 we discover 5 log-entries for one sync-process via mobile device where before (2.4.7) there have been only 3 entries for the same sync-process with the same device. Besides this it takes a bit longer.

We run httpd-2.2.3 on CentOS 5.8 with caching enable. The server has been running for 4 years, but htcacheclean has never been run. The cache folder is about 10GB now (a "du" on the folder takes a very long time to complete). Should we expect any problem when running htcacheclean for a first time such as server slowing or freezing, ... Furthermore, in case of freezing, if we disable caching and restart the server, do we expect any problems? We did a few test on our test servers, and everything was fine, but our test servers do not have a large cache folder.

I've got for it this .htaccess file: URL...I have written it by googling,.(I don't really know very much about Apache HTTPD, but my Java suite requires this stuff, so here I am). Supposedly the first paragraph is to avoid Google Chrome from caching my files and the second part (the Order sentences) are to allow anyone to view only those kinds of files (which is otherwise let them see everything but folder roots.
And here is the httpd.conf, which I've modified almost only to change the listen port, the server name, and to replace the AllowOverride None into AllowOverride All so that .htaccess is actually used (I've deleted the comments for readability).URL....
I had never heard of something similar, "I can only load one instance of each file". In explanation, the only html file there's, runs from time to time a PHP script. Let's say I run it on localhost for example. Then everything is going fine. But I open a new tab, and load the same page (while the another one is yet open), and I'll get a 412 HTTP error. Similar thing happens if I try to load the webpage from another device. And, with my little experience with Apache HTTPD, I guess it's because of this .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Why does this happen or how can I solve it (either it be or not related to one of these files, I'll do whatever is needed)?
