I'm with ASmallOrange ( ASO - www.asmallorange.com ) already for more than one year. I have to say I have been very happy with the quality and service I have received.
SERVER
Server is very reliable. Yes, I encountered some issue months ago, because some DNS attack and password issue on ASO's staff, but they handle the situation very good and they was honest about it.
SUPPORT
Their support is fantastic. Actually, I seldom contact support since everything is okay, but when I did, their reply is fast and prompt.
COMMUNITY FORUM
They have good and active community forum.
PRICE
Their price is reasonable. Yes, ASO do not offer "unlimited" but their prices compared to quality is okay.
MY SITE:
Since it is required, my site with ASO : www.midave.com
I've hosted with ASO twice now. They are superb hosts. Probably the best. Most webmasters are more capable (trained in hosting mechanics) than I.
I ran afowl of ASO's forum/wiki/support system BECAUSE I am not an ubergeek. These support media are NOT accessible, at ASO, to the casual webmaster walking in with a simple-minded website. It might be prudent to check out the forum, before you buy in, to ensure this is in your league.
I had read a lot of good things on these forums about ASmallOrange. So I finally decided to sign up with them for my friend's website which I manage & design.
Unfortunately my experience was anything but good. The issue was that I am based in India & I design my friend's website who is based in the US. Since my friend is a non tech savvy person he gave me his credit card number and asked me to manage everything from signing up for a new web host to designing the site.
Since ASmallOrange's billing department found that the address is registered based in USA but the IP address of the person signing up was not from USA, they marked the account as fraud.
I must say that I very well appreciate this system of fraud detection followed by them & am very much impressed by it. What I was not impressed with was the fact that they didn't bother to inform me about the same nor did they try to verify the authenticity of the account. Unaware of this, me & my friend kept waiting for more than 24 hours for my account to get activated. It was only when I raised a support ticket that they informed me that my account has been marked as fraud.
Subsequent to this I informed them about the circumstances under which this account was signed up & asked them to carry out whatever verifications they need to do with the end client or through the credit card company.
To my surprise again there was no reply from their end & this morning I find that my support thread was closed without reverting on the issue.
I guess its time for me to move on and host somewhere else. My own websites are hosted with Dotable and am very happy with them.
well i used them for exactly one month, i thought 25/month, i can get much more ram and bandwith from linode.com
i send them like 6 times already, email saying i want to discontinue vps package
they say they need my billing password, so i give them to prove my identity.
then the tickets are closed!
this is repeated 6 times already. wth?
asmallorange had fantastic support for 3 years i have been with them with another hosting plan but lately i discover much more bang for your buck hosts with similar level of support.
I was looking at ovh.co.uk and there prices seem to good to be true and searching webhosting talk it says no results found. so does anyone have good or bad reviews about them?
i found a nice ovh server which is a quad core with 8 gb of ram on a 1 GBps port. I saw a few reviews and i heard people say that they will lower your speed or something. What i need to host is a game server which uses a lot of upload. At least 10 mbps at MOST excluding users that have to download a 5 mb file. Perhaps if i tested my upload on speedtest.net if i had a ovh server that is on a 1 gbps port. What would the upload be?
i have registered on Mochahost.com to Get a VPS, the prices are very good and the Datacenter is " Theplanet.com ". i need your reviews about Mochahost.com if any body is or was a customer on it.
note : they told me that i'll get the VPS after 24 hours is it normal or what?
Anyone here used Midphase? Over at WHT you can find as many negatives as positives for almost anyone you chose. Anyone at Sitepoint used them? I'm very cautious about switching and have checked into several web hosts. I would stick with the one I have now, but server load spikes seem to come at the worst times and stay around for hours.
where can I search for reviews. I searched for reviews in the search area of the site but did not get any on Websitepalace.com. If you know or have anything to say about Websitepalace,
does anyone here host with Peer1 or ServerBeach (same company)? I see their advertisements here at WHT non-stop, but I have yet to see any reviews, positive nor negative.
I know they have started in just 2009, still there could be users who would like to share their review,
was lookin their plans for one of my friend, their plans look good
may be even impressive but after the mess around with the newly dooming/scam hosts such as hostchum, sarora, resellerways, it makes me think more than twice before selecting an host
See, I don't wish to raise up a discussion on the hosts again, its just my way of lookin at those recent dumb hosts which let lots of users in pain, including one of my dear friend.
I know its good to think twice, but it has made me lose faith really badly in the hosting industry thanks to the kiddies and scam hosts, to gain confidence back in the hosts might be a real tough buy
I know serving, wiredtree are still around but I am referring to the low-budget hosts..
I have seen the odd one or two reviews on MoxieHosting dating back a couple of years ago. Are there any latest reviews that people might have on MoxieHosting?
i place my first order with resellerways.com around 2-3 month ago but on that time their servers have many problem and goes down and etc but actually i should say Mike management is really nice and after 2 month i place new order with resellerways and when i check their servers i see they are really changes all things and have really excellent servers with fast speed.
Since moved to Seattle area 2 years ago, I searched for a Supermicro-server-built vendor closed to Seattle. I found some, but their pricing seem expensive. Some others are very slow in response, even from other WHT users, they seem good. Recently, contacted Scott Lee at Kerbo System, and I believe I have found a good one.
As usual, I sent a lot of pre-sales questions. Scott is very nice, to answer all questions with details. He shows a good experience in server hardware building. Then, I decided to order a new dual Nehalem system with them. Transaction went smoothly, and I have server on time. He even took some photos of servers for me, before shipping out, so I can show to customers. He also noted down for me all series numbers of all parts in server, so I can keep track, in case something wrong.
At first, I am not very impressed with their home page, but please don't let you down. Drop Scott an email with your requirements, or what you are going to do with server, he will reply with his advice, what he's thinking the best in your case. A good service, especially for business likes ours, not in the US.
So, a short reviews about Scott Lee and Kerbo System. I would highly recommend them to anyone needs Supermicro servers in the West coast.
Scott, thanks for a good service. We are looking for a long term business relation.
I've searched through this forum and only eleven threads about "BlueTurbo" show up. Does anyone have experience with this company, specifically regarding their support, network performance/uptime, and hardware?
I have been a SolarVPS customer for about half a month and I am very happy with their service. I have not had one single downtime and their support was top notch the few times I needed them.
