A Decent Web Server Pulling .5 AMPS

I have one server now which will be doing some intense PHP/MySQL serving. I want to grow into a second server that will handle the Apache server and leave MySQL on the original box.
Question is whether I can get something decent that will only pull .5 AMPS? Why? I have to choose a co-location provider and have narrowed it down to 2- the one I like very much because will give me 7U of rack space for $200 a month- but they limit you to 2 AMPS and my Dell SC1435 pulls about 1.4 at top usage.
The other option is another co-lo (closer to my home) that is just 1U space and costs $149 for the 1 Mbps burstable. So the it will cost $298 a month when I add the second server.
So can anyone suggest some decent low energy boxes for serving (for example) 250 very low storage CMS (Joomla) sites where the database backend is offloaded to another server (connected via each server's secondary LAN port)?

I have always found this odd and do not understand enough to figure it out.
Any knowledgeable people would be cool.
My datacenter has given me 2amp circuit for my computer. It seems to run fine on it.
Looking at the back of my power supply it says the following
520Watt max
Input rating
100-240v~,50-60Hz
7A-3A
Output rating
+3.3V & +5V combined 150W max
12V combined current 39A max
(and a lot of other stuff on amps and volts for output).
Now, Watts = Volts * Amps.
So if I have 520watts and 12 volts would be 43 amps
If it means 520 watts and 3.3volts it would be 157 amps
However it seems to max at 39amps on the back for output.
I imagine input is all that matters here and at 520 watts and 100 to 240volts that would be
5.2 amps to 2.16 amps
And the thing says 7amps to 3 amps on the back for input.
So....I imagine that is the max it can pull before dying.
However, I have 4 drives, 4 ram sticks, and 2 quad core cpus all going and I would figure I am at least halfway or more of the power use.
And the power says it starts at 3amps anyway.
But I only get 2amps.

I'm looking for a VPS with root access so I can play around with Ruby on Rails, mongrel, litespeed and nginx. So far the only thing I've found in my price range and with the proper privileges is the standard plan on eapps

I am being over change for my service and support is just useless.
First the service I bought can only be renewed manually each month-even though I ask for direct debit when I bought the service.
Seem to be working but I am still being ask to renew manually when I do it I see two payments going to them for the same amount.
I would not fault thier technical service but their customer servies is terrible. I find them to be:
slow:- They take forever to answer any question
Expensive:- they ask you to call numbers that are premium its never to right department after waiting forever on the phone.
Useless answers to quistion:- You ask them question they give you useless answer to just to close a ticket.

We are about to install 4 Compaq Proliant DL360 servers and a small Linsys switch into a data centre but I have no idea how many amps a small setup like this is going use? What kinda power does a server generally use and is there a way to keep the power it pulls to a minimum.

I'm going to be developing an ASP.NET MVC application, and just want to share it with some friends until its ready to be released.
I'd prefer to only spend $100CDN or so a year. I know this isn't a lot, which is why I'm looking at shared hosting, I know I'm not going to get anything great.
I'm not worried about bandwidth since only a handful of people will have access, but for disk space I'd prefer > 1GB and preferably MSSQL. I know MSSQL is going to bump up the price quite a bit, so its not a deal breaker. Of course .NET 3.5 SP1 and AJAX is a must though.
So far I think the best I can find is either discountasp.net or ************.com (er, I can't post the name?)

if any of you know the charging amps of a smart ups 3000 or 2200(I cant find it on the apc site)?... I'm thinking to use it to charge a 48v golf cart... anything bad about doing this?.. I'm thinking the golf cart batteries are too large and may take a couple days to charge with the ups...

What do you guys think about putting 40 Amps into one rack? Our colocation provider wants to whine about it and not allow it. When we're paying them $1000+ a month - I think this is just shoddy. They say it's for heat concerns - but really this just makes me mad. We have fifteen 1U servers in there, and can't get much more on our existing 20 amps.

I recently got a quote for server co-location at Hurricaine Electric in Fremont CA- they quoted me a good rate for my 1U server, but added that it only comes with 2.5 AMPs. My new Dell SC1450 has a 600W power supply- so it could be drawing 6.667 AMPs- any tips on how I can figure out what it's actually drawing?

Does anyone know of a decent adult hosting provider thats not going to give me any problems?
i've been with cirtex for 1 month and in that month i've had my account suspended due to high cpu usage.. and the sites mysql has been down due to disc space full cos they didnt clear the tmp folder.. all in the space of one month..
My site gets currently 4,000 uniques per day with around 13,000 page views..
its a tube site however the videos are embedded from another site so bandwidth is relativly low at around 4gb/dayso if anyone else runs a similar site i'd like to know who you host with and if you get many problems.

Just looking at getting a 1u box with a local provider. They provide .75amps per box.
Previously we have gone a bit crazy and gone with dell 1950s with dual quad cores and a few disks. As you can imagine these specs go well over the .75 amps.
What type of spec server would you recommend for that power? Looking at something for small scale web hosting, duall HDs and about 2gb of ram.

Although Netgear isn't my personal preference, how would a Netgear Prosafe GS748T do?

I've been getting quotes on Cisco 2960G switches (specifically 2960G-24TC-L) and looking for those that have also purchased to determine if I'm getting a decent deal or not. These are brand new from a major vendor for $1899 each shipped. Am I in the ballpark?
List is $3200 and most other places seem to be right around $2k so far.

I currently have a server setup with about 10 domains, serving around 4million pages a month to around 110,000 unique visitors.
1 of those domains serves around 99% of the traffic, so I want to move the other domains onto their own server.
I'm looking for a hosting package that offers cpanel/whn interface and the ability to add new hosts. I had a quote from ThePlanet for a very reasonable $89 a month, for a Celeron 2.0 with 512MB RAM.

I used to use dedimove.com, but they have dropped off the face of the earth i moved to another host, id rather not say them name as i dont want to give them a bad name and have no complaints with their service other then the speeds are not very good...
im looking for a 100mbit port and under 100 dollars price range as the site really doesnt make any money... and at least 3 TB transfer...

As my clients' needs expand, they're asking for chroot ssh/sftp setup. I'm currently on a dedicated Linux setup but don't really have the time to set up a whole new box with full virtualization or investigate a full chroot solution (baby on the way), and to be honest it would be less hassle to move to a new provider than worry about down time with sites.
What I'm looking for:
- linux hosting
- hosting for 30+ accounts, some with several domains
- at least 6 IP addresses for SSL certs
- each account in a full chroot environment (ssh/sftp/ftp) so they can't poke around each others' files, or each account set up in a virtual machine setup (ie: openvz)
- maildir
- spamassassin
- php 5, mysql, perl 5.8.8
- suexec apache would be nice

I've got a VPS which is serving as the main server for a number of sites. Web Server, SSH Server, and Mail Server.

One of the sites is a growing forum with a MASSIVE photo album. This is the site where I notice the most slowness.

I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??

I am currently running Google Analytics/Urchin 5 (v5.7.02), on a server, the server has started to act up, (on its last legs etc) and now I am trying to transfer the Urchin Software to a new server, where it would work effectively.
However upon installing the urchin software on the new server and running it (localhost:9999), I am presented with An Action Items Page, and these following choices
Obtain Demo License
Buy License
Activate Pre-Purchased License
I choose ‘Activate Pre-Purchased License’ pop in the Serial number and complete the registration then…

So all I want to do is deactivate the serial and reactivate it on another server.
Does anyone have experience with this or a similar problem or have a solution to this problem. Any help be most appriciated.
Or even a Contact Number so that i can get some one over the phone!

This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2.
However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2.
My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1?

I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.
