Is' hard formeto Donwload and upload normally Is there any script which do this for me? some thing like what rapidshare.com do?
I'm in the process of switching to a new host for my websites. My old host is Servage and my new host is Dreamhost.
I'm looking for a way to directly transfer all my files from Servage to Dreamhost (i.e. don't transfer them via my PC).
Whilst Dreamhost offers a whole suite of access to their servers, Servage only offers FTP (no SFTP, no SCP, no SSH, no RSYNC). Servage also don't give any ability to create a tar.gz of my files (I tried to use a Perl script to execute a shell command to tar my files, but it didn't work )
So currently the only way I can see to get the files across to Dreamhost is to use the ftp command (via SSH on Dreamhost), but this command is severely limiting because mget can't transfer directories - it can only transfer files in a directory.
Can anyone see an easy way for me to get all files across to my new host?
is there any soft for windows who can transfer files from one server to another? I have Shell access on both servers but dont know how to do that via shell..is there any GUI soft for windows where I can on one window see files from one server and on other to see files from second server?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been asking a fair few question lately here on WHT. You've all been a great help so far. I just ordered two new servers from www.northstorm.net. I want to take all my video files from my previous host, and transfer them over to my new host. There's roughly 100 files which is a total of about 8GB. I have a php script which can copy the files manually, one by one, but that's the last resort as I'm not very keen on that idea.
I have root access to both servers so I can pretty much do what I want with them. What's the best way to grab the entire contants of a ftp folder and transfer it over? I need to copy the files from my old host to one of my new servers, and then copy the files between my two new dedicated servers.
Are there any good software that will backup current server files and restore them on a new server?
I'm looking for full backup, that would backup all the files in less time instead of going to each account's cpanel first and downloading backup than restoring it to new server.
When you buy a website you have to transfer it's files to your host.how can i do that?
View 4 Replies View Related i have a client machine which requires backing up, and the server. For some reason, rsync doesn't want to transfer files...
i've already set up keys, it logs in fine without asking for password.
server config:
max connections = 2
log file = /var/log/rsync.log
timeout = 300
[backup]
comment = Rsync backups
path = /secondary/client
read only = no
list = yes
uid = nobody
gid = nobody
auth users = root
client command:
rsync -vz --recursive --progress --stats -e "ssh -i /root/.ssh/rsynckey" root@server.com:/backup/ /home/usertobackup
it keeps saying cannot find the backup folder, even thouhg it does exist on the server and is what is specified in the path above?
I have a debian box, and have archived a gallery in to a .tar file, 5.77gb.
I have a centOS box, and have used wget to bring the data file over to the new server.
However upon doing so it only detects it as 1.8gb when it starts downloading.
I have terminal access to both servers, just trying to bring my files over from one server to another.
Could I Transfer Gzipped Files From 1 Server to Another?
I'm in the process of changing servers, and I was wondering if there was some sort of command where I Could transfer my backups to the new server?
I have following problem-i have over 20 sites on server and each site has own database.Is there a way to speed up backup and transfer or other server?
Method which i use right now it's following:first i archive entire directory using command tar -pczf name.tar.gz public_html,and then repeat with each directory.But i think i could simply archive all requied directories,but that will took toomuch time,so if i drop connection during archiving it wont be archived at all then.So i think best solution will be to create some kind of batch command which can load in background,so that means command wont stop if client lost connection.
So let's say i have 2 sites and two directories located and different places.
One is at home/site1 and other at home/site2
So i think i would need to put command into batch file
tar -pczf site.tar.gz. /home/site1 and tar -pczf site2.tar.gz /home/site2
Will that work? Also second part,mysql databases,i founded if i login into phpmyadmin as root i can see all databases.I managed to export all databases,but question will import again to phpmyadmin work.I think phpmyadmin create command for each database "if there is no db sitename_mysqlbase,create it",but howmuch i know phpmyadmin have limit with importing size of mysql database.Could that be done with import/export mysql command?
transfer a client's site files (over 220 MB) to my server. The client does not use cPanel or have SSH access.
FTP is horribly tedious. I have created the account on my server and have SSH enabled. I have a feeling I can use wget to download the files to the account's home directory, but I am not sure of the correct syntax to recursively download all the directories and the files.
what's the fastest way to transfer 50gb of files from old server to new?
I tried using cpanel's backup to transfer a backup through ftp to my new server, but it stopped at 3gb.
I just need to transfer public_html directory and everything inside it from my old to new.
I dont have physical access to my server, just root access via ssh.
how to transfer files through my windows server and my Pc?
i tried many software but all of them depends on my Pc speed, so it transfer very slow, i tried also before connecting through RDC to windows server, to check on Local resources " Disc Drives" but also transfer files slowly,
i want any speed software to copy files as if there are in same Hard drives
In reference to my previous post, i want to tranfer accross 7GB of data, approximatly 80,000 files i believe it is (due to a gallery script).
It's currently on another host (on a webhosting account) which uses their own control panel which has no options but to manage databases, the only way i can see to do this is via FTP but it'll take me days. I've tried using compressing and backup scripts, but the damn execution time on the hosts server is too low to allow the files to be zipped. Are there any ways? Can i login to my VPS via SSH and anyhow pull off the files from the other hosts server?
Server to Server files transfer. How?
I have a server with lots of files that i need to transfer to another server. I think its called FXP.
Well what do i need to do transfer the files from 1st server to 2nd server without me manually downloading the files and then reuploading?
I own both the servers and i have root access.
I have two servers.
One server has a folder named 'vidfiles' and I want to transfer this entire folder (all 70gigs) to another server I just got.
Both servers are linux and use CPanal/whm.
What would be the command to get the files to transfer direct from server to server?
I couldn't keep my mouth shut (technically fingers). A customer wanted to upgrade servers and he needed a way to move the data across. Since I don't allow hard drives to be swapped, they have to do it manually all by themselves. I generally allow up-to 4 days for them to transfer data and make DNS changes, etc. But this time, I offered help! I agreed to move the data (darn me) and it just came out of me, involuntarily.
God knows what just happened... but in a positive way, customer is extremely happy!
So...
Both servers are on cPanel - with root access (duh)
200 odd files which total to 25 GB
1 database about 100 MB in size (no biggie)
I was planning on using one of my Windows 2003 servers (via remote desktop) to download the 25 GB and upload the 25 GB, but that sounds like a waste of resources and time.
what way to setup an server to server transfer?
I have set
Allow FXP transfers for authenticated users.
AllowUser FXP yes
on both servers but it doenst appear to work.
I have a client who has transferred her domain to my reseller account. The dns settings are all showing as being to my server:
Problem 1 is that she can't see the new site. She is seeing a very old site (not her last one) on her PC even though she has done a full refresh and cleared out her temporary internet files.
Problem 2 is that her emails aren't working. I can set up my computer to receive emails from her domain, and even though she is using exactly the same settings in Outlook it will not work for her (she has sent me screen shots so I know she it putting in the information correctly).
I am at a loss about what to do with these two issues. She knows that others are not seeing the same site as her, but is getting frustrated and I'm afraid that it is affecting my credibility with her.
I have submitted a support ticket to my provider (8 hours ago) and have not received a resopnse yet
So I've got a reseller account set up with about 71 individual accounts created under it. What's the easiest way to create a backup of the reseller account (including all accounts created under it) and send it to my new VPS? I have SSH enabled on the reseller and root access on the VPS.
Rsync seems somewhat intimidating but maybe I'm looking at it all wrong. I have limited command line experience. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me? I'd like to have a method that I can get familiar with and re-use.
What does the concept of transferring a domain mean? I am asking all this because I have seen that freehostia has a service called: Domain transfer. It seems that it cost 9.95$. Then I would like to know what is the purpose of this domain transfer. I just thought that this domain transfer was the service provided for those who wanted to host a site in freehostia but had registered their domain with another company instead of with freehostia. What do you think about this?
Well, I have seen this choice of transfering a domain in another site called: http://www.bluereef.net/support/serverbasics/dns.html
So, could you help me understand the purpose and use of the service called transfering a domain that these two hosting providers mentioned above have?
I have one domain hosted as addon on Plesk. Now i want to migrate this add on domain from one user account to another user account. Is it possible to do this from plesk?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of my clients just asked me if $4.50 per GB of transfer is a lot (as they just found out that's what their web host is charging them). I told them yes, because that seems ridiculously high to me, but I'd like to give them a ballpark figure for what that should cost. I can't find any hosts that charge per GB of transfer though. Any ideas what that should cost?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a dedi with 2 hdd's (2x160gb)
I need more space so i requested another hdd but they said that the server can only have 2 hdd's.They told me that i can upgrade to a 250gb hdd.(1x160gb,1x250gb).
BUT HOW will the data from the one hdd will be transfered to the other 250gb hdd?
i have two domain names:
domain.net and domain.com
I want to transfer the FTP content of domain.com to domain.net without havin to do it manually, (transfering data to my PC via FTP and resending it again)
Is that possible in WHM? and How?
Will it work with "Restore a Full Backup/cpmove file"?
I am trying to transfer a 1.1GB file from one of my servers to one of my servers in another data center.
What command would I use inside PuTTy to transfer the file via FTP, not SFTP.
I cannot use DN's so Ive had to use dot in place of periods below)
I have a domain name registered with Netfirms - lets call it mydomain dot com. I didnt want to use their hosting services, just reg'd the DN with them. I host the mydomain dot com website on my home PC. In order to get both mydomain dot com and www dot mydomain dot com to resolve to my Home IP address I had to create an A record for each on the Netfirms Domain manager GUI.
I have since purchased Hosting services from Webhostingpad dot com and now wish to move/point my mydomain dot com and www dot mydomain dot com to my webhostingpad dot com hosted account.
When I spoke with Webhostingpad about pointing mydomain dot com to them they said all I had to do was use their Name Servers on the Netfirms side and I should be set. When I asked 'what about the A records? Do I need to create A records on their side for mydomain dot com and www dot mydomain dot com' they said 'Nope' - once its pointed to their NS I should be all set
My questions are:
- Why did I need to create A records on the Netfirms side to point to my Home IP?
- Will what Webhostingpad is saying work (once I point my DN to their NS, and remove the existing A records on the Netfirms side, I should be good to go)
- Will both mydomain dot com and www dot mydomain dot com resolve properly to my webhostingpad server?
I just want to make sure this works before I do it and potentially down my website.
so this has been a drug out longer process than I realized it would be. I've never sold a website and I figured this would be a quick two-button process.
I asked Host Gator what I needed to do and they told me to register the domain at Enom and then they would send me the EPP code. Well, I registered with Enom, sent them proof it was really me, and they told me I could view the EPP code on Enomcentral
Well, I had contacted Enom and they told me that I had to ask Host Gator for help as they were responsible for helping clients with these types of issues. So, I contacted Host Gator and they referred me back to Enom... this is kind of pissing me off. My customer bought the website and domain and I've made an entire backup of the directory and he has that but the only thing left is to transfer the domain name to his preferred choice "Freeparking.com" and I just want to know how to do that.
I noticed now the domain is under hostgator domains and all I need is the EPP code. Has anyone ever had to transfer a domain through Enomcentral and how in the holy hell do you find the EPP code?
