View 8 RepliesI dont know why snmp is showing following error
Code:
[root@1]# snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost IP-MIB::ipAdEntIfIndex
snmpwalk: Failure in sendto (Operation not permitted)
I need to enable SOAP on my server , but it says
"Requires the SNMP Dev libraries to be installed first!"
I Googled this and getting horrible mixed results. Anyone know how to go about this?
is it just me or does windows firewall in Win2K3 randomly decide to block SNMP ports?... i have over 30 servers runnng Win2K3 and out of the blue yonder today 3 stopped reporting snmp data ...... the windows firewall was turned off and ICS services were not running but still ports 161 and 162 were being randomly blocked ... so now i add ports 161 & 162 to the FW and it all works but when i disable the services to be free of windows firewall ports 161 and 162 get blocked again and snmp is down [back to square 1]... so simple solution is to leave windows firewall enabled & ports 161/162 enabled rite?

A fair bit of Googling only turned up the Poseidon 1140, which apparently is not available in the US. I figured that someone here has to be using something like this in their DC.

configure: error: Cannot find SNMP headers. Use --with-snmp= to specify non-default path.
I have installed net-snmp by command
yum install net-snmp net-snmp-utils
and thought snmp installed to /usr/share/snmp. However, when using configure --with-snmp=/usr/share/snmp, still the same error.
how to create a SNMPv3 user on Windows.
Anyone wanna tell me what config lines I need to add and where they need adding?
I'm starting to think they don't exist. I can query a networked OfficeJet (inkjet) via SNMP, but very few of the fields from the LaserJet MIBs seem to match. I can tell that my .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.1.5.2.3.1.0 is at 247, but that's not terribly helpful.
I can't be the first to run into this, though? They've got to be out there... Somewhere.
I have a Cisco 2950 and would like to make a script to activate or deactivate a switch port with snmp.
Does someone now the OID or how I can get this? I searched now very long for this in google, but I'm not able to find it.
We currently have a OK solution to monitor and graph our client bandwidth at the switch port. It's a great product, but we have been expanding quickly and we are looking for a solution that is a bit more scalable and user friendly. Any recommendations?
Basically we want software to do the following:Monitor/log bandwidth in/out
Graph data in some way shape or form
Provide a web interface for users to login and view bandwidth usage
Scalable and cost effective
Easy to use
Windows or Linux
If you don't feel comfortable divulging what you use, just PM me. Also, we are already aware of MRTG.
We have a Dell 3548 Switch, and need to set SNMP to ignore local traffic from and to server xx.xx.xx.1 and xx.xx.xx.2 OR from port 20 to port 21
Think this make from Notification rules and Notification recipient under System > SNMP.. right? How?
