2 days ago, I tried to find some guides over WHT for setting up FFMPEG on centos 5 server.
But the thread seems to be providing on older version of FFMPEG setup guide which made me a little confused on the whole process of get it setting up the right way.
Can anyone who have done FFMPEG installation with success on centos 5 to show me the steps to it?
I need to get the following libraries installed on my CentOS 5.2 Linux server aswell as install ffmpeg.
I don't know how to do this, I've looked around and I can only find ubuntu support.

to install the complete FFMPEG package onto my VPS which includes, FFMPEG, Mplayer, Mencoder, Lame, etc.
I generally use the following script which works as a charm, but doesn't work very well on CentOS 64-Bit.
I want to install the following on CentOS 5.2
FFmpeg
FFmpeg-PHP
Mplayer + Mencoder
flv2tool
Libogg + Libvorbis
LAME MP3 Encoder CentOS
I seen where a lot of server management companies are charging big bucks for this, so this might save you some time and money.

Seems there is some lib problems along the way so in /etc/ld.so.conf

I've purchased a VPS with CentOS 5 on and am looking to get it all up and running myself (Never done anything Linux based before but don't mind learning). I've gotten as far as installing LAMP + Webmin on the server, outsourced my DNS to zoneedit and email to Google and am now trying to configure other parts. I'm currently stuck on two things.
1. I'm trying to configure my FTP server. I've installed and am able to run it and connect to it myself as root but I can't figure out how to get it my html folder. Its only got files like .bash_history and .bash_logout in view. Also trying to do this through Webmin cause I've got no idea where to find anything on the command line other then proftd.conf
2. I'm trying to add users to the server but again I'm unsure on how to set the permissions for it. I can create it but it comes up with the error /dev/null Permission Denied a couple of times when I log in.
I have supybot, and I want to make it startup at bootup, in the background. The command is
supybot some.conf

I've searched the web to set up ssl on 1 domain of 2 installed op 1 ip address. It seems easy: setup virtual hosts, turn ssl on and point to your certificates.
I'm completely lost. I setup the certificate from geotrust in plesk panel 11.5 as described in the manual but that didn't work, apparently because i have 2 domains and 1 ip.
So i started looking to adapt my vhost settings to use sni. First problem: i can't find the setting of the virtual host.
Secondly where can i find the path to the .key and .crt files.
How i can install a ssl certificate on one of the two domains sharing 1 ip.

By default it's for linux, but there is a version for win made by some guy/guys to be found here: ffmpeg google groups

We have a managed VPS, and have never needed on our own dedicated servers in teh past to have FFMPEG due to the line of data we host. So, I asked our provider to please install FFMPEG onto our server.
This is the response I have received:
FFMpeg requires PHP to be compiled as CGI (PHPsuexec) that is only officially supported by cPanel. So in order to install FFMpeg modules we have to resetup your VPS with cPanel.
Now our VPS is running Direct Admin on CentOS.
I am not trying to poke holes at our provider, just trying to find out if this is the truth, or if there is a work around that can accomplish this.

After I get all this working and install it on a another machine I plan on writing a guide for FreeBSD users inside the tutorials section - but this one part has stumped me.
The only thing I can think of is something along the lines of maybe i downloaded a 64 bit version of something along the way?
Should i continue along this route with phpize adding it as an extension, or does someone else have some information on that ffmpeg_test.php file?

I am developing a phpfox site and in order to use the video capabilities I need a host with ffmpeg installed.
My current host were a bit misleading and let me think I could pay them a small sum to install ffmpeg on a shared server and that would see to it. Turns out I would need to get a dedicated server, which was quite a shock when I saw the price of that.
I would like to know if shared servers with ffmpeg are worthwhile, or is a dedicated server generally regarded as the only way to go?
If success can be achieved with shared hosting, are there any hosting companies that would be recommended. Apthost is a name that seems to crop up quite regularly, but I don't know how to tell a good host from a bad host, so I'm asking you all!
P.S. My bandwidth needs shouldn't be more than 100gb/month at the start, but that is only a rough beginner's guess.
How Do I tell? or do I have to install it? If so is there a tutorial on how to?
