Download Server Logs To My Windows PC
Jun 10, 2007My server is Fedora Linux. I access it via Putty using SSH.
I find it a pain to look through the logs using PICO since it won't scroll and I'm a slight linux mainly windows guy.
Is there a way to either copy the whole log at once over to notepad or something or to download the file to my local PC?
Then I could go through it much easier.
I tried using copy in putty but that only copies the screen and these logs can be huge sometimes.

I've been looking at ways of keeping administrative connections to the server secure. So far I've considered VPN technologies like L2TP/IPSec and RAS but they don't seem suitable for what I need.
I just want a simple encypted, tamper-proof, computer-to-server connection in a Windows Server environment.

Feb 19, 2014For some reason I cant seem to download the app on Parallels to create a website using wordpress.I have added the domain, clicked on applications > install apps > featured applications > wordpress..I then get a screen 'downloading and installing wordpress. But however long i leave it on this page (i left it for over an hour one time) it doesnt move off 0% completed.I have tried another domain but it does the same and also tried using google chrome (instead of windows ie9)

I know for sure the server I am running Apache on can go to much higher speeds (2MB/s to even 12MB/s) because I tested it via FTP.

Dec 9, 2014I want to secure the webmail access (webmail.mydomain.com) with an SSL certificate. In this case, a self signed certificate should be enough because the users using the webmail will trust it.
Latest Plesk 12 and Windows Server 2012 R2, MailEnable WebMail as shipped with Plesk. Horde Webmail.
How would I set this up? I found no setting to enable SSL for the webmail subdomain. And I can not add it as subdomain and assign the self-signed certificate on it (Plesk panel does not allow webmail.mydomain.com as subdomain as it is already in use).

Hardening Windows 2003 + Secure Remote Admin
May 3, 2007I've just ordered my new Windows 2003 server with 49Pence.com and will be taking "delivery" of it once they have commissioned it.
Anyway, I would appreciate some advice on how to secure it. I have been used to the luxury of a hardware firewall, but budgetary constraints mean I will have to rely upon a software firewall (something that scares me a little). It will be running our company websites, MSSQL and MDaemon mailserver.
I am not sure exactly how the server will be delivered, but I assume it will arrive fully patched with Remote Desktop access, and Windows Firewall installed.
First question: Is Windows Firewall sufficent? I am more used to configuring firewalls with Ports/Protocols/IP's rather than "applications". I also understand that Windows Firewall cannot restrict access to specific IP's.
I read that IPSec / TCP Filtering should also be used. I've looked at various links and have an idea how to do this, but I do not want to make a mistake and get "locked out". I saw a post saying that during testing they set up a scheduled job to reset the IPSec policies every x minutes so that they can log back in if they do make a mistake. How would this be done (in terms of IPSec) .. or is this a matter of stopping a service?
If I go with another software firewall, is there an easy way to install remotely without getting locked out of the Remote Desktop? KVM over IP is a charged by the hour.
It is "safe" to leave Port 3389 open and rely upon passwords (and potentially IPSEC IP policies), or should I administer by VPN?
If so, it seems that in order to create a VPN connection on the server, it requires that the Windows Firewall is shut down (at least on my test server here). Obviously this is something I don't want to do!

It also comes with remote desktop and window 2003 set up..

Nov 8, 2009My site is hosted on eUKhost, and there are some users who get an incomplete download of an msi-file (about 12 MB in size) hosted on my website. They don't get an error in their browser, it's just like they have a complete download.
The incomplete file users download is usually about 2.7 MB big. When they re-download the file afterwards, they never seem to have the problem again.
It seems to happen completely at random and I haven't got a clue what the reason could be.

How can I configure Lighttpd to point *.flv to a specific server based on location. I don't want the www.domain.com to change, I would like it to always show www.domain.com but point to different countries depending on where the person is located.

Cant Download File
Sep 14, 2007I have just performed a ftp backup of my entire server. I then zipped it up in Cpanel.
The file size its self it 3322megs big (about 3.3gb). If i press it to download it says:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /backup/sepmid07/sepmid07.zip on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have made sure that i have the right permissions, I have also made sure that it belongs to the correct user. Also next to it where it would say how big it is, it says "-"

Nov 6, 2009i do not know wht happend but when try to download any file useing wget from ssh . i get common error with every thing i try to download.
this example when try to download csf.
