We're setting up a youtube type site with streaming video on a VPS. We have installed all the requirements for Red5 application including 'Java', Apache ANT', and 'Subversion'.
During the installation of Red5 I am getting the following error: --

Been fooling around with red5 too long now. I really need this app to work so I can use the audio/video option on my chat.
I'm willing to pay the person who can make red5 work on my linux centos server. I allready installed ant & red5, the java is just a bit to tricky for me.
Like I said, I'm willing to pay a fee for the person who can make the red5 work.
I'm trying to install red5 on my servers and i'm running into a problem.

I have been fascinated by the Red5 streaming server and tried to configure it on my VPS , i could follow the instructions and get upto the demo page eventhogh most of the demo pages are not working , I believe this is a problem with the configuration and the location where the files should be uploaded after installation or the rtmp URL which should be used on the demo page for the demos to work, I have experinced the issue mainly with the oflademo.
I was quite dissappointed to see that there are not much docs available for post installation configuration of Red5 too for a normal person
I urge the members to develop this thread into a good tutorila on Installation and Configuration of Red5
Red5 is a free open source java alternative to Adobe Flash Media Server and can be used for web based video streaming. Installing Red5 requires a dedicated server.
Do you know any shared hosting providers that have Red5 installed and available for their customers?
i want to install a red5 streaming server on FreeBSD6.2
The install was no problem and i get no errors.
So far so good.
But, i want to stream with the rtmp protocal so i used flv player to test. The link i tried was rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/oflaDemo/Transformers.flv (standard red5 example file)
But i get nothing on the screen, i tried a lot of other urls but no succes, red5 seems to work (see below for details)
How can i test of red5 works after a standard installation?
I really had a hard time in setting red5 on my VPS in /usr/local/red directory, I have done all the installation steps but still the port tester does not show success, I am using centos5 with cpanel installed, i have the installation steps from red5 forum but pretty much unsure what needs to be done after installation
1. I have only iptables installed and even if I remove iptables the port tester does not work properely
I have VPS with CPanel and CentOS but i need to install Red5
can it work and can someone post a step by step tutorial host to install Red5. On Red5 web page is tutorial but when i try to install i get some errors and i have low experience in linux.
Could anyone post the exact steps to install Red5 war on tomcat 5.5 with admin panel working and displaying? I have installed it with the demos working but there is no admin panel access
What difference between yum install php or manually install php from scrach (build, make and install)?
I know manually install could configure lots of parameters and paths, like --iconv, --mbsting, etc. I don't know anything behind yum install php. If I want to install php everything in the following:
to installing linux software and have been beating my head for a couple of days. I just learned that I can use something on my CENTOS 5 - which is the same as RHEL 5 - to install the rpm and all dependencies.
Numeric-24.2-1.i586.rpm is the rpm I want to install, if that matters.
here is what I seen when I installed kernel-2.6.20-1.2948.fc6.src.rpm
rpm -ivh kernel-2.6.20-1.2948.fc6.src.rpm 1:kernel warning: user brewbuilder does not exist - using root warning: group brewbuilder does not exist - using root warning: user brewbuilder does not exist - using root ########################################### [100%] warning: user brewbuilder does not exist - using root warning: group brewbuilder does not exist - using root
then when I ran: rpmbuild -bp --target=$(uname -m) /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/kernel-2.6.spec
I seen this error: + Arch=x86_64 + make ARCH=x86_64 nonint_oldconfig In file included from /usr/include/sys/socket.h:35, from /usr/include/netinet/in.h:24, from /usr/include/arpa/inet.h:23, from scripts/basic/fixdep.c:117: /usr/include/bits/socket.h:310:24: error: asm/socket.h: No such file or directory make[1]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1 make: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2 error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.93770 (%prep)
I need to have this installed to get a app installed etc... suggestions or ideas? thanks
So i have a dedicated server and here are the specs:
AMD64 X2 7750+
8192 MB DDR2 RAM
500 GB 7.200 RPM
2000 GB Traffic p/m
CentOS 5.3
I want to install several VPS's on this server so i have one for shared users, one for reseller users and then the rest can be purchased. Unfortunately i have no idea how to install VPS's. Which is the best visualization software for VPS's? And how do i install and how to get whmcs to create them. Or are they already created?
I am also wondering about control panels and do vps's have to have their own separate control panel or do they all run of the main control panel.
Also what is the rule of thumb on how many vps's per server.
I've tried to work with yum. but if I "yum install .." enter, then i get this error :
PHP Code:

I have bought Dell Optiplex 760 and i would like to in stall Virtual Private Server (VPS) on it.. can anybody please tell me step by step tutorial to install VPS in my computer and have my own webserver?
