View 1 Replies View RelatedI found htop much more easier to understand than top and would like to install it on my cPanel CentOS server. I tried executing following command from root shell:
yum install htop
and got following output:
..................Reading repository metadata in from local files
Excluding Packages in global exclude list
Finished
Parsing package install arguments
No Match for argument: htop
Nothing to do
Not sure if htop is available for CentOS cpanel servers? If so how can I install it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen some shared hosting providers include cPanel. As far as I understand cPanel is to manage and install apps on VPS. Why would you need that on shared hosting?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been hosting several of my clients (for whom I have created a web site) on a cPanel VPS. The VPS is Xen-based, has 1GB of RAM, 2 CPU cores, 80GB of disk space and 800GB of bandwidth. Everything is running smoothly and I'm quite satisfied. It has a VPS-optimised version of cPanel and the speed is just as good as a dedicated (sometimes even better). I even have a second, small, VPS as a secondary nameserver.
Now it comes to this. I am planning to sell shared (and in the future possible reseller) hosting. Is it wise to stick with a VPS or to get a dedicated? The investment it takes differs a lot, since a VPS can be a lot cheaper than a dedicated server (depening on what you need and your provider of course).
When creating cPanel shared accounts under a VPS account, do you create them under the root WHM or do you create a "ficticious" reseller account and place the shared accounts under the reseller WHM? Are there any advantages or disadvantages using either method?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a cPanel server and have an initial 5 IPs with the server. By default, it assigned two IPs to the nameservers, but I'm getting a bit confused as to best practice policies. Is it a bad idea to have your nameserver IPs being used for accounts?
I imagine the answer is yes, it is a bad idea, as I've not seen it done by others. I would guess the biggest reason would be that you wouldn't want a bad acocunt to get the IP blocked.
I'd like to hear opinions on the matter, as cPanel seems to be set up to automatically assign the first IP available to both the default account IP and the first nameserver.
