text.txt will have many lines and some of them I do not want users to be able to modify and overwrite.
config_item_1=user can edit
config_item_2=user should see but not edit (could be on any line)
config_item_3=user can edit
config_item_4=user can edit
The user has made their changes in the web browser and clicks submit. I then need this info to be saved as the text.txt file however some checking needs to be done first. Anything matching config_item_2 should be removed. This could be on any line. Anything not matching should be permitted and added.

How/where do we edit our CA file under Postfix - and why is the standard one installed by PPA not including some of these VERY MAJOR CAs?!?

Jun 26, 2007I uploaded a joomla template and now need to edit the css file. But it says it is unwritable. Earlier, I had a problem editing an image. My host said, "Since these files were created the webserver, you didnt have ownership to change these files."
So perhaps the same happened with the css file? What do you think?

I don't think a CMS is the way to go (learning curve is too great) so I was wondering if anyone knew of a website software similar to Site Builder (but not Site Builder) that will allow a customer to edit their own content? Jul 5, 2008One of our servers was incorrectly set up before migration occurred. Now the ns records are incorrect on many domains' zone files. Does anyone have or want to let me hire you to write a script to change all the ns records and that are currently ns1.something to dns1.something. It can't be for every domain on the server, just the ones pointing to the incorrect ns, as some of them are correct. Linux server.

Oct 17, 2007batch edit of the name servers in every DNS Zone for every domain on one of my cPanel/WHM boxes. Rather than using WHM to manually modify the NS entries, I would like to find a way to do a batch or mass edit.
I simply need to change all instances of NS1 to NS3 and NS2 to NS4.
I was told a simple one line sed script should do the trick on /var/named but alas, I am woefully incapable of writing such a script.
Does anyone have any ideas? With over 200 domains on this box I'd hate to think this will have to be done manually.

May 15, 2008My Pink Floyd website has a photo section of rare concert pictures that our members upload. We have about 3,000 of these pictures, that our members upload via an FTP server that is hosted on a simple cPanel web hosting account. Someone logged into the account and not only deleted all the pictures, but uploaded obscene pictures and index.html files to some really nasty stuff.
We delete all the obscene stuff, but before we re-upload all the pictures I need to know...
On a cPanel account is there a way to have the FTP User only able to upload files and not edit/delete/change? Somehow we can edit their permission?
I asked HostGator about this and the ChatTech said this cannot be done, and I was a bit surprised. I could easily do this on my own server, but i'm not sure where to start at the user level.
SSH Session Hangs When Trying To Edit Httpd.conf
Nov 18, 2008I am running into a problem with my home linux server running Fedora 8 (2.6.26.6-49.fc8). The problem is with my SSH sessions, in that they hang or freeze when I try to run certain commands such as (ps -auxt or top) or when trying to edit (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf) via VI or Pico. I am able to edit my pure-ftpd.conf file with little to no trouble through either Vi or Pico however. I did some research already on openssh.org but my problem does not resemble the tcp timeout issues I've seen described. When the SSH session hangs I'm forced to disconnect and then reconnect. Just curious if anyone has any ideas as to what I can try to resolve this problem.

Aug 2, 2008I have 2 servers hosted with SoftLayer, In 22 Jun, I had reboot my servers, one of them didn't start and then SL said that it's was a reslov problem and we fix it, after that day, I start seeing all my websites traffic start go down , I check Google Analytics and the visitors number is going down everyday, I open a ticket and say that to SL and i think it's was a DNS problem they tell me after a lot of replys that they fix it and i must wait for 72 hours that need for the dns to be updated worldwide, I didn't say that SL support is bad no they are very very helpful support and many thanks to them, but i wanna to listen to your opinions here about my problem, and from where it's?
