I have more than 200 users in my server but thier is 2 user take the server resources

I want to limit resources like CPU and RAM maybe as a per user setting on a Windows Server 2003.
I've read about Windows System Resource Manager but from what I see it applies to per-process.
Is there a solution (freeware maybe) for this?
How can I limit my dedicated server's resources ? For example, one of reseller provider's limits :
Quote:
Resellers may not use more than 2% CPU daily, 3% memory daily, run more than 10 simultaneous processes per user, allow any process to run for longer than 30 seconds CPU time, run any process that consumes more than 20% of available CPU at any time, or run any process that consumes more than 16 MB of memory. Databases are limited to 16 max user connections with a max query time of 8 seconds. Cron jobs must not execute more than once every 15 minutes and will be niced to 15 or greater.
From where or how can I configure these limits?
I have a dedicated server with CentOS and cPanel/WHM
I want to know how would I limit each user usage of RAM and or CPU
I see HUGE web hosts are doing that , they give you 9999999 diskspace and 99999999 bandwidth but they limit your RAM & CPU use to a tiny number
I want to know how could I do that in order to keep my resources good .
Is there any option to limit users only to upload (No other permissions like permission change, directory access etc, only upload) in FTP.. I am using PureFTP..
I have seen options to do it in ProFTP, like below,
<Limit APPE MKD XMKD READ DIRS>
AllowUser username1
AllowUser username2
</Limit>
Is there any option to set in PureFTP ?
I'm in the process of taking a mid range dedicated server with cpanel. I was just wondering what sort of limit cpanel has with the number of users?
For example
10,000 very small websites using sub domains
1000 average sites with top level domains?
Or is cpanel limit not an issue and it's more down to what the server can handle in terms of it's usage?
I try to search and not found the solutions to limit concurrent of db users to connect to MySQL in same time for example:
Limit user root to connect to MySQL maximum 5 connections in same time
There have max_connections setting but it limit for all users in all connection to MySQL.
But I found that in version 4.1.x there have max_connections property in user table (Users and global privileges) of mysql database, this setting is limit connection in 60 minutes.
I would like to know if there any setting or code modify for this solution that I want.
How can I limit the traffic for shell users?
e.g. I create 5 users and each of them uses the ssh server as a proxy. I want each user to create only 5GB traffic a month. How can I do this? I've already tried iptables but they can only limit the traffic created by the user who started the ssh server
I am running CPanel/WHM as well as the WHMSonic plugin for a Shoutcast service. Now the thing is that my RAM limit is 4GB, but my RAM usage is always at around 3.5GB and above.
I guess it's mainly due to WHMSonic, so is there any way i could lower this RAM as on multiple occasions the server has locked up and shutdown, rebooted or had to be rebooted.
On top of that, the server load is around 10.00 or above.
Is there a resource controlling script which i could install?
I run a server and some game server using cPanel game plugin and found that they are using cpu and RAM usage in high percentage.
What is the good cpu usage for a normal server load?
a few times, my host contacted me and said that my account is suspended due to high usage of server resources.
I have 3 sites using SMF (a forum script.) I have around 8500 visitors and 3 million page views per month in total.
can this be a reason of high usage?
if it's what's the meaning of terabyte traffic limit ? which you can never use
I asked to my host if they could let me know what's causing high server resources usage. here is the answer:
We do not know which domain or script caused this high usage, it is your responsibility to investigate. I would suggest that you go through your raw access logs to see the most requested pages and then investigate those further. After you find the pages responsible, please optimize them so you are not using so many server resources.
so if a host wants simply to restrict traffic limit, they have a pre-reason under hand.high server usage! yes but how will I know that? how will I trust that it's true?
when I ask why my sites are down, they can easily tell me that it's because of high server usage!
if there were any free resources out there that anyone know's of that could teach someone how to manage an unmanaged dedicated server? General guides will do but the more specific the better although I really cannot imagine a guide specific to my requirements but anyway

Fedora core 6 with WHM and Cpanel
Where do people learn this stuff without having to take a course in it?
My VPS keeps crashing and my host has emailed me saying that
/usr/bin/php index.php
Is causing the problem. Could anyone talk me through were I go from here to lower the resources. I have no idea what could be casing the problem.
I may be given the task of being administrator of a website. I have never done this before.
Can anyone recommend any resources for web server management which covers things like security, efficiency, backups etc?
The upgrade has an error when manage the users database.
PRODUCT, VERSION, VERSION OF MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE
OS Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 x64
Panel version 11.5.30 Update #13, last updated at Sept 1, 2013 03:30 PM
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
In a costumer panel have a one database MSSQL, and assign to this DB 3 users, but the tab option "Users" don't work fot his costumer and show this error:
Error Javascript:
TypeError: template is null
this.template = template.toString(); in protototype.js 8472831 (lÃnea 807)
ACTUAL RESULT
Error Javascript:
TypeError: template is null
this.template = template.toString(); in protototype.js 8472831 (lÃnea 807)
EXPECTED RESULT
Show users in the tab users for database.
On my server, users can connect to any database as long as they have the database user and password. This makes it easier to hack any database on the server.
What I want to do is to make the users can only connect to their own databases and not other's.
I tried changing the localhost ip address but it didn't work ( I assume I didn't do it the right way)
I have a video sharing site running Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz with 2 gb RAM and 400 gb Hard Disk.
the server load average increase up to 89,00.00.....
and the users online in my site is around 190 online.
do i need quad core server to maximize my site?
is there any way to prevent users to run phpproxy or any proxy script on server (server is Linux / whm )?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to deploy siteminder web agent on apache web server. They have a pre-req which says that while installing apache server, "install as a service, available for all users" "When an Apache-based web server is installed using a single user account, the Agent configuration cannot detect the Apache-based web server installation."
I don't see any msi installer anymore for apache web server, which had this option to select while installing. Now all i see is a zip file and i just have to unzip as part of installation. With this when I install httpd as a service, it is not detected by siteminder agent. So how can I set this "install as a service, available for all users" after installing from zip file?
i'm using VBB forum and ruung in shared hosting . As i know, the max *NIX Server Load Limit in shared hosting is 2.00. I want to know how many *NIX Server Load Limit in VPS ? Because when i set to 2.00,it mean my forum lose visitors. If possible, i will up to VPS.
My forum have about 80 members and 240 guests same times . When i set to 2.00, i still have about 40 members and 100 guests . My forum don't have any modications.
Does i up to VPS or Server in this case?
I am sitting here taking a day off from all the craziness in my life (saturday night!) and just catching up on things trying to stay organized and I been searching on google about windows server 2003 and its hard drive limitations.
Let me start by saying I have a colo server hosted somewhere that contains the following hardware:
Dual Opteron 246
2GB RAM
750GB x 5 (approx 3.5TB after OS partion)
3ware 9550SX PCI-X-to-Serial ATA II 9550SX-16ML
Now right now my windows server has a big 2TB partion and its on RAID 0 but I have another 1.5TB unallocated space that I cannot use due to this 2TB limit that seems to be. Now I got this from my host (support) saying that its the limit.
[url] here it exaplins that 2TB its the limit but if its on "GPT" it can have much more storage now I don't know what this means at all I just want some way (or know) what I have to do so I can use all of my space. I honestly do not want to touch Linux for the reason that I am rarely unexperienced by it. I run perfectly on 2TB but I do have extra hard drives that I should be using.
If I had to delete my data I would do so anything to be able to use more space is awesome on windows.
There is 1000MBPS network set up between three computers and server.
Server has files which program saves.
Program is being run in three different computers.
Each computer tries to get into same file (eg last bill) that was created before. First computer goes in within seconds. second minutes and third just crashes. No matter which computer runs it first, last one crashes.
So called "server" is running on Windows XP pro since it just needs to keep one program files. However I cant find out whats causing file sharing over network bug that crashes access to same file if connection from many computers.
I have a few users that have a hosting account with me and are trying to connect to their own MySQL servers elsewhere. Both said that they are able to connect to the MySQL server with other hosting accounts but not the ones hosted with me. I asked if they had setup permissions to allow remote connections from my server and they confirmed that they did.
What am I missing? Do I need to configure my firewall somehow? I figured the connection is just using port 80 since it's from an PHP script right?
I am trying to get a feel out there if cPanel users would pay for a service say $5.00 - $10.00 a month where they can call in to a number and have access to their system. They would be able to reboot the server, restart services, stop and start services, get server statistics etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tried the uptime ssh command but that only shows how many users are currently connected to the server via ssh. Does anyone know a command to show how many active http connections there are? I'll use php to run the command and print it to the users browser so they can see how many users are on each server. Very similar to what gamershell do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm trying to limit the total amount of bandwidth my server can use, but I am unsure where to start.
Say for example I want to limit the total available upload bandwidth to 100kbit/s.
I have setup a test server at home, Datacenter edition 2008.
Now, is there a way to allow only a certain username and password combination to access an FTP session/site?
I have issue on my windows server 2003..
I have a file hosting script, but server uploads only 2MB...
I have edited my script to 100 Mb, but still same issue...
Than i tried editing php.ini file and increased:
Max Upload size to 100 Mb
Max Post Size = 100 Mb
Than Rebooted IIS.. and even server.
but still same issue... i can't upload a file larger than 2mb on Windows server...
OS: Linux, on Apache 2.0

Would you know and kindly tell me if there's a way to limit X number of connections per hosted site?
Because I don't want someone with high traffic forum unfairly stealing most connections for himself, which makes other sites suffer in performance.
Is it possible (or if anyone has) to have ability or some script that will integrate into apache or something and will tell limit CPU load per directory (hence user)?
Eg: I don't want one high traffic user using like 2% load.
