we are setting up a couple of servers for a clients application which will have 2 x 1U application servers running XenServer 5.5 and one NFS or iSCSI server (Dell 2950, Raid 10) running ether just Linux with NFS or Openfiler with iSCSI.
Would there be any benefit in running iSCSI vs. NFS considering their is no iSCSI accelerator and this is just a regular Server ?
NFS is simple but is it's performance really that much different than iSCSI in this scenario?
Anyone know what font they are using? I know this is a hosting forum but I really needed to know which font they used in the center picture where it says :
I am having a new mission to achieve and I really need some pro-Windows system to help me with their advices.
I have a server which requires high availability of data and service. Basically the server run a server/client service and all clients makes their operation over this server. The server is a simple Windows 2003 Web Edition server.
My goal is to have one server running (let’s say Tom with IP 192.168.0.1) and one running as stand-by (let’s say Jerry with IP 192.168.0.2) ready to take over if the first server crashes (this would remind pro-Linux some kind of DRBD and Heartbeat server).
So, the the first server run without problem, all transactions are going to be written in the directory “D:/Transactions”. This directory must be saved in real-time to the second server which stands in case of failure...
The first server also run a Windows service, which has to be stopped on the stand-by server and started ONLY if the first server is not working anymore.
I would like also the two servers (Tom and Jerry) to share a virtual IP address on the one which is having the service running, let’s say this IP would be 192.168.0.3.
When the first server goes offline hung or whatever, the second server take over, start the service and does the job of the first - when the first come back online, I re-sync the data from the second to the first and then, I switch it back (or all this fully automated if possible).
NOTE: the service that I need to run is special and is not one of the normal basic Microsoft service, it’s an in-house written service.
My question are :
- What software(s) do I need to do this ?
- Is there anything that I should be aware of ?
- Is there some provider (on both east and west) cost which can provide me help for the hardware part of this project ?
We are interested in launching a site dedicated to monitoring webservers and would like to know if there is a ready made solution for that. I know there are many tools like nagios, BB, cacti but what Im looking for is a program that is ready to be setup and will enable us to offer the same services offered by siteuptime.com, websitepulse.com, alertra...
I want to use php code in .html extension files. I tried to accomplish this through a .htaccess file, but that did not work out. I tried to add a handler through cpanel, but it does not parse the code in the .html file. I renamed the index file to index.php and works fine.
I would like to keep the .html extension.
I tried several Handlers through Cpanel which all failed to work.
Tried: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php .html and AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html (with and without application/) and AddHandler server-parsed .html
to open EML files on apache webserver, actually when I load an eml (outlook email message) by using an URL, it shows the email code, it is not pasing it correctly.
What libraries (apache or system) do I need installed to parse this kind of files?
I noticed that all sites on the server, can not parse php files, tried restarting httpd, recompiling using apache update or easyapache script, and the problem stills.
index.php is at DirectoryIndex, also Addtype shows php extension active at httpd.conf.
but, when I type "php -v" from the shell, i got this message:
Code: php: /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.14: version `libmysqlclient_14' not found (required by php)
I found someone with the same problem, tested the solution posted there but it doesnt seems to solve this issue.
I've a new installation of Plesk 12 on a VPS (Ubuntu LTS12.04) and when FastCGI is selected it downloads the PHP files instead of parsing the PHP? Where to look config wise? I've checked php short tag options and they all seem fine.I've set up a test subscription to display the error here: URL....
I was trying to set up archive-my-tweets [URL] .... and I seem to have gotten stuck with a 403 error. When I remove the .htaccess file the 403 goes away but so do the rewrite rules so that's a problem.
You'll see the contained .htaccess file that's included in the project.
Basically for now I'm just trying to run this on my mac. I have set up the files in a subdirectory of my personal web server. The personal web server is working fine--but when I go to the /tweets directory I get the 403.
Unable to parse zone: Error while parsing zonedata for xyz.com: syntax error, line 25 ...propagated at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/CPAN/Net/DNS/ZoneFile/Fast.pm line 142.

I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription 2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents 3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??
I am currently running Google Analytics/Urchin 5 (v5.7.02), on a server, the server has started to act up, (on its last legs etc) and now I am trying to transfer the Urchin Software to a new server, where it would work effectively.
However upon installing the urchin software on the new server and running it (localhost:9999), I am presented with An Action Items Page, and these following choices
This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2.
However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2.
My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1?
I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.
I'm wondering whether it is possible to perform a full server migration to a new Plesk server with the same hostname or will Plesk give an error about the hostname being the same?
The new server would not be accessible by hostname (only via IP) until DNS and glue records were changed after the migration.
I've been developing a small 2D MMORPG lately. I bought a VPS to run the server on a few days ago and sadly it doesn't work so well. Sometimes the loads go pretty high (afaik not caused by me) and MySQL freezes, causing the server to just wait for MySQL to unlock, hanging all the players around on the map. Not a good thing.
Anyway, the game is very small scale, and I'm not planning to have more than maybe 30-50 players online. It does not suck up much CPU, I had ~10 guys online and loads stayed down at 0.00 on the VPS box.
Problem with getting a dedicated is our very low budget. As I'm still underage and living at home hammering my pc and don't have any real incomes, we're talking numbers like $ 30 - $ 50 USD per month - it's really hard to find for that price in Europe.
Requirements: Monthly payment, $ 30 - $ 50 / month, no setup (or very small setup, like $ 20) 10Mbit/s or faster connection, 100GB traffic should do 500MHz CPU is all cool 512MB or more RAM 5GB diskspace is enough Has to be in Europe due to ping times (< 100ms) Linux, Debian 4.0 prefered
If anyone knows where I could get something like this for a low price, $ 30 to $ 50 USD, it'd be great.
I have been searching everywhere trying to find a tutorial but It is not going anywhere. Basically I need to create 2 nameservers for Godaddy and pretty much so when i type http://mysite.com it goes to my site. I can access everything from http://myip and everything works. Now is there a step by step on how to actually do it in the DNS Manager? I need help like what IP address do I use is it the router ip? The external IP?
