Ffmpeg Installation On Windows
I have a windows server and i need ffmpeg for converting video to flv and creating thumb of that. I have tried so much but i couldn't install this. I installed msys and mingw but when i running post install script for combining these two, it gives that make.exe file not found. I am also not sure what should be installation path of these two. Where will I upload all ffmpeg files and how can I compile this? Where will I get ffmpeg.dll for using this through php?

Ffmpeg On Shared Server
I am developing a phpfox site and in order to use the video capabilities I need a host with ffmpeg installed. My current host were a bit misleading and let me think I could pay them a small sum to install ffmpeg on a shared server and that would see to it. Turns out I would need to get a dedicated server, which was quite a shock when I saw the price of that. I would like to know if shared servers with ffmpeg are worthwhile, or is a dedicated server generally regarded as the only way to go? If success can be achieved with shared hosting, are there any hosting companies that would be recommended. Apthost is a name that seems to crop up quite regularly, but I don't know how to tell a good host from a bad host, so I'm asking you all! P.S. My bandwidth needs shouldn't be more than 100gb/month at the start, but that is only a rough beginner's guess.

FFmpeg Server-side Conversion Without The Php Script, And Lossless Conversion Quality
Prior to installing FFmpeg and its dependencies, I want to know about FFmpeg server-side conversion without the php script. Does it require those php scripts in the first place or I can just run an ssh command? Also, does this FFmpeg have a configuration file in which you can set the quality of the converted .fla videos? How about a lossless quality conversion and keeping the size proportion of the video the same? Meaning, for example, from .avi to .fla without sacrificing/loosing the quality much or noticeably.

Windows 2008 Versus Windows 2003 Server
With Windows 2003 server, there are comprehensive lists of what you need to do to secure the server before use. For Windows 2008, I wonder is there such a list? Or is it true as what I heard from Microsoft that it is already secured out of the box? Anyone has any resources on the hardening or preparation of 2008 for server hosting uses?

Windows Xp Rather Than Windows Server 2003?
Is there hosting that use windows xp rather than windows server 2003? What is the advantage of using windows server2003 anyway? Most of the time I just need to run some programs that need huge bandwidth. If I want to host sites, I'll just use xamp. I think windows xp license is cheaper.

Installing Ffmpeg
I was trying to install: FFmpeg FFmpeg-PHP Flv2tool LAME MP3 Encoder I have read this instructions in here: [url] But to this step: 12. Compile FFMPEG cd ~/ffmpeg/ffmpeg ./configure --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libogg --enable-libvorbis --disable-mmx --enable-shared echo '#define HAVE_LRINTF 1' >> config.h make make install I got an error like this: Quote: [root@host ffmpeg]# ./configure --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libogg --enable-libvorbis --disable-mmx --enable-shared Unable to create and execute files in /tmp. Set the TMPDIR environment variable to another directory and make sure that /tmp is not mounted noexec. Sanity test failed. If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest version from SVN. If the latest version fails, report the problem to the ffmpeg-devel@mplayerhq.hu mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net. Include the log file "config.err" produced by configure as this will help solving the problem.

Installing FFMPEG On VPS
We have a managed VPS, and have never needed on our own dedicated servers in teh past to have FFMPEG due to the line of data we host. So, I asked our provider to please install FFMPEG onto our server. This is the response I have received: FFMpeg requires PHP to be compiled as CGI (PHPsuexec) that is only officially supported by cPanel. So in order to install FFMpeg modules we have to resetup your VPS with cPanel. Now our VPS is running Direct Admin on CentOS. I am not trying to poke holes at our provider, just trying to find out if this is the truth, or if there is a work around that can accomplish this. I do not want CPANEL on our account. We have two unix techs here at work, however unfortunately they are both off for two weeks as of middle of last week, so i'm caught with who to look for to gain a second opinion.

Ffmpeg On Shared Hosting ...
I have started building a site that allows registered users to upload video clips. Until now I have always used shared hosting, but my host says I need a dedicated server with ffmpeg installed to allow video uploads. (This annoyed me because when I asked about this shortly after buying a year's worth of shared hosting they told me I only needed to pay $75 and it would be sorted). Anyway, I can't justify the cost of a dedicated server, so I need to learn a bit about shared hosting with ffmeg installed. Is it worth it? Can shared servers cope with bandwidth demands? Are there any reputable and reliable hosts offering it?

FFMPEG And FLVTOOL2 Install
I just got a brand new server, its a centOS 5 box with cPanel installed, compiled with suPHP and the latest version of Apache. I was trying to install FFMPEG, Flvtool2, flvtool, mplayer, etc etc, and I had some issues, so I paid serverwizards to install it, and they tried to install it, but it seems they installed a broken version of flvtool2, or didnt install it right, and their best response up to date is "we are googling this", then they blow me off for 12 hours. FreeBSD & FFMPEG
after many painstaking hours, im at a loss as to where to go now (finally managed to get up to the point of running phpize in the ffmpeg directory) ... Originally I thought i had compiled it in when compiling PHP, Infact: Code: './configure' '--disable-debug' '--disable-rpath' '--with-bz2' '--with-curl' '--with-gd' '--with-openssl' '--with-png' '--with-zlib' '--with-mcrypt' '--with-mysql' '--with-pear' '--enable-bcmath' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--enable-sockets' '--with-ffmpeg=yes' '--with-apxs2=/usr/local/sbin/apxs' But when i go to the tests/ffmpeg_test.php file I get: Code: Warning: dl() [function.dl]: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/ffmpeg.so' - Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/ffmpeg.so" in /usr/local/www/apache22/data/tests/test_ffmpeg.php on line 17 Can't load extension /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/ffmpeg.so I used the ports tree to install FFMPEG and here is the version info: Code: bsd# ffmpeg -v ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4718, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard built on Mar 14 2007 20:42:22, gcc: 3.4.6 [FreeBSD] 20060305 After finally getting to this point, i say the heck with it and just decide to try and use phpize and compile it in that way as an extension ( following: http://ffmpeg-php.sourceforge.net/ ). However, after I got phpize to work ( had to cp autoconf259 and autoheader259 to autoconf and autoheader since it was complaining about it ), it gave me this set of errors: Code: /bin/sh /usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/libtool --mode=compile gcc -I. -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0 -DPHP_ATOM_INC -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/include -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/main -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0 -I/usr/local/include/php -I/usr/local/include/php/main -I/usr/local/include/php/TSRM -I/usr/local/include/php/Zend -I/usr/local/include/ffmpeg -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -c /usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/ffmpeg-php.c -o ffmpeg-php.lo gcc -I. -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0 -DPHP_ATOM_INC -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/include -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/main -I/usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0 -I/usr/local/include/php -I/usr/local/include/php/main -I/usr/local/include/php/TSRM -I/usr/local/include/php/Zend -I/usr/local/include/ffmpeg -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -c /usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/ffmpeg-php.c -fPIC -DPIC -o ffmpeg-php.o In file included from /usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/ffmpeg-php.c:25: /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/avcodec.h:14:27: ffmpeg/common.h: No such file or directory In file included from /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/avcodec.h:15, from /usr/local/src/ffmpeg-php-0.5.0/ffmpeg-php.c:25: /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/rational.h: In function `av_cmp_q': /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/rational.h:36: error: syntax error before "tmp" /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/rational.h:38: error: `tmp' undeclared (first use in this function) /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/rational.h:38: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once /usr/local/include/ffmpeg/rational.h:38: error: for each function it appears in.) Should i continue along this route with phpize adding it as an extension, or does someone else have some information on that ffmpeg_test.php file?

Looking For A Ffmpeg Enabled Host, Recommendations Please
I am currently running the script vshare (youtube clone) on APThost shared. I really need to upgrade. I opened the site on the 28th of May and already using 13gb of space and 26gb of bandwidth in just a few days. I am looking for either a dedicated or VPS host that can at least provide: - 100gb of space - 150gb of bandwidth (maybe more?) - ffmpeg US based as they are cheaper. I don't really have a lot to spend, as this was meant to start as a fun site but it is growing rapidly. I have no idea on how a dedicated or vps server works like is it the same as a shared server?

FFmpeg Enabled On Shared Hosting
If FFmpeg Enabled on shared hosting, does it mean that I can use it on other kinds of hosting services of the company that provides this services? The company I'm talking about is apthost.com. Sorry if my questions seems not very wise but I'd like to clear up the situation in this way. That's important for me to know.

Ffmpeg High-quality Conversion
I want to do a "near-lossless" video conversion, if that is even possible, in keeping the proportion of the original video. Veoh seems a little bit better / at a higher quality than youtube, and I want to achieve higher quality than that. Literally speaking, I want the converted flv video's quality to be as close as the original video. What ffmpeg command exactly do I need to achieve this? I currently use ClipShare and is experimenting with Ostube for the php script. The default "high-quality" setting for both scripts are not that good of a quality either, with choppy images.

Ffmpeg Php Resource Intensive?
I own a couple of servers xeon setups. All use cPanel/WHM. A client yesterday asked if we could have ffmpeg-php installed on the server so that they could run phpfox. I have heared ffmpeg is resource intensive? Will it make a big difference on dual core server? Should I install ffmpeg-php or risk losing a client? If I should install ffmpeg-php I have been having trouble doing so, can anyone help me with this.
