Recommend A Cheap Windows VPS Host
Nov 30, 2007Can anyone recommend a cheap reliable Windows VPS host? My sites (shared) are hosted on Fluid Hosting , I am very happy with their service but their Win VPS prices are too high for me, I just want to use VPS for testing my applications.
I found cheapvps.co.uk searching on WHT, but their support seems to be patchy?

Jun 28, 2008I usually host my sites on Bluehost but they are a bit expensive. A friend of mine who wants to host a very small site of his not expecting too many viewers, needs a web host which is cheap, reliable and fast..bandwidth is not an issue since he wont need much.
Please suggest some tested options. Which one of the cheaper options are time tested and reliable?

Jun 5, 2008I want to run Hlstatsx on my webhosting but my current host won't allow me to or open the port that I need to do it with.
I am currently paying about £2.50 a month and don't want to pay much more, I have a plan with 10gb storage and 100gb bandwidth and SSH and Cron jobs. Does anyone know a company that will do a similar deal and allow me to run the script by opening the required port etc?
Cheap Reliable Business Host In UK
Mar 28, 2008Friend of mine is starting up a business and is looking for a reliable and fast web host in the UK but also not too expensive around £100/year and maybe 100gb bandwidth not sure on that.
Looked over reviewcentre.com and picked out some high rated ones with more than 5 reviews, however every single one I have read horror stories about elsewhere (including ukfast which seemed so good looking at reviews).
Can someone recommend any decent ones to me who won't screw up payments or have much downtime, with maybe a year or more of being with them? All I need to start is a bit of bandwidth for pretty much one image to start with, uptime and email, already got the domain from domainmonster.
Can A Cheap $1 Web Host Be Trusted Against Identify Theft

I don't mind paying for hosting, but I only need one script installed on a server that runs a cron file once per day and I don't want to pay $5 to $10 for that.
My question is basically this: is my credit card safe with these $1 web hosts? Can they be trusted to keep my identity safe?
Fast And Large HD Space Host For Cheap
Jul 28, 2008Who knows a good host that offers PHP5, mySQL 5, and at least 1 TB of hard drive space for a cheap hosting account.
I am setting up a digital asset management tool and I need alot of hard drive space for a few of users to be able to download large image files.
Which is why i need massive amounts of hard drive space.
If anyone knows of anything, please PM me or post it here. I will be checking this thread periodically.
OH and by cheap I mean less then $100/month.
I would guess the server could be either VPS or Shared or if you know of a dedicated server company, then that would be awesome too.
Cheap Host With Good Customer Service
Jun 30, 2008I am creating a basic static site for my friend's gardening business. It will use html and CSS only, be around 5MB at most and does not require any databases, php support etc.
My problem is that he wants to basically have the site up and running and then be able to forget about it really. I will be going on now and again to update it for him, but that is about it. My experience with free hosts is limited, I have used byethost before, and though very good, they do require a log on every week else they assume the site is no longer wanted and delete the account and all files!
So, my requirements are:
Free host that easily allows to have your own domain name
Email address with the company domain, so quotes@domain.com, not quotes@domain.host.com
Cheap
Good customer service
Need no more than 20MB (allow for some extra photos to be added)
UK Based would be preferable

Nov 11, 2008I would like to suggest visualvps to anyone looking for a vps because they are low priced with what they offer to you, they have alot of different linux server os' that you can choose from when you sign up. They offer cpanel for only $12 extra a month which if pretty good. They have very fast support, when I submitted a support ticket they replied very fast (in like 5-10 min)! I am very impressed with them and im sure anyone browsing this forum would be.
Personally I would give them 5 / 5 stars because they have earned it!

Why Is Cheap Colo More Expensive Than Cheap Dedicated?
Oct 19, 2007This is probably a dumb question, but I've been curious about something. While shopping around for either a cheap dedicated server (less than $75/mo) or a cheap colo for a 1u server, I have noticed that the cheap dedicated servers are often less than a cheap colo, which seems odd to me since with a colo you bring your own machine.
For example, Sago Networks has cheap dedicateds for $50, $59, $79 etc. yet their cheapest colo option is $99. For Sago's $50 dedicated you get 1000GB transfer and 2 IP's, and with their $99 colo you get only get 100 GB transfer and 1 IP.
And Sago is not unusual in this respect. I've priced other providers that fall into this category and they have similar differences.
So why is colo more expensive than dedicated for similar, if not lower, features?
Windows Host Or Specialsit ASP Host
Dec 31, 2007I will be setting up a site which uses ASP.NET 1.1. I know versions 3.0/3.5 are available, but they are not yet V2.0 compliant. Anyway thst is not the issue - just context.
Would like your advice as to whether it would be better to host this site with a company who looks as though they are specialising in ASP; such as DiscountASP, or Softsyhosting, or go with a general Windows hoster such as Steadfast, Fluidhosting, or 3Essentials?
I know nothing about ASP, so I don't know whether it is not at all neccessary to have a host specifically knowledgable about it, as I am unlikely to ever have problems with it, OR; I will most certainly have to address ASP issues sometime, so it would be essential to have support who really knows ASP.

Jun 23, 2008I've been using GoDaddy hosting for years. Not because I thought it was good, it just was dirty cheap at the time and I knew that they were a reputable company.
However, I'm ready to try something else.
I'm looking for a cheap, reputable windows host that will allow me to use ASP.net and PHP. (aka, my two favorite languages)
I'm not afraid of oversellers. I have been using GoDaddy afterall. However, I would like something a little higher quality and not famous for their lag times and excessive server load.
Any ideas? I'm not hard to please...
[Note, I'd prefer not to receive PM's with people pimping hosts that they manage or have reseller accounts with. But, if you must, at least give me the courtesy of letting me know that up front. ]
Get PHP To Run On Windows Host

I've used Jodohost before and they were ok. Also was considering weberz.com, but I don't if either will meet these requirements. Any ideas?
