Can't Connect To CPanel
I can't connect to CPanel or any of my sites but I can connect to my virtuozzo control panel. When I try to connect to CPanel or any of my sites I get an error that says that the server is taking to long to respond. If I go through a proxy I see the sites so I know CPanel is not down. How is it possible to connect to my Virtuozzo control panel but not Cpanel?

Login To Cpanel And WHM
I have someone on my server that is having problems login to Cpanel and WHM. They can view all websites on the server even theirs, but they cannot login. They keep getting: Firefox cannot establish a connection with the server. Even in IE they get a error message. They even tried with "theirdomain.com/cpanel" and got the same thing. They are using a rounter also, so I told them to try unhooking that, but my main question is, it doesn't seem that their IP is blocked as I checked, so is there anything else on the server that could cause this or is it something on their end?

New CPanel/WHM Warning
first time I discovered the issue and I am not happy about it at all. I was moving three of my largest sites over to a new server after performing a full cPanel backup of them completly and then FTP'ed the backups over and restored them in WHM on a new server; however, NONE of the MySQL data was saved. Now at this point I was not really worried because I knew I had weekly and daily backups so at most I was going to lose 1 month of SQL. come to find out, NONE of the weekly or daily backups had the SQL eaither despite the fact that they are instructed to backup everyting. This leaves me with only three month old backups for these huge websites that are getting 2million+ hits a day. Basically, I'm done. I relied on cPanel/WHM to perform full backups which it did not. I followed all the procedures about having backups offi site and whatnot, but NONE of them have the SQL. I am very upset, perturbed, and disappointed with the new cPanel/WHM and never should have upgraded. I suggest anyone using it to do your own backups and do not rely on cPanel/WHM despite how tempting it may be. my one mistake was to delete the websites off the server before they were fully restored (just so I would not have to turn off DNS clustering and whatnot). I should have checked if they were up working on the server before I deleted them off the old one. (Although I kept all the backups so I figured that would be enough).

WHM / Cpanel Optimization
anyone have any tips on how to optimize WHM / cpanel to run at top performance on 256-512mb guaranteed VPS accounts? I've had several VPS providers in the past, and each one of them run webpages and LAMP stuff fine, but as soon as I bring up cpanel /whm, it either crashes the VPS altogether, or cpanel and whm run very slow, choppy, pretty much bogging the whole VPS down, doesn't seem to matter if the VPS is running on 256 or 512, still same issues. I run on Virtuozzo, which I don't know if thats part of the problem, or not, really all I use out of cpanel/ WHM is the standard things like creating/deleting accounts RVSkin, Fantastico basically what a reseller would use. the rest of the stuff I do not use, so I was just wondering if there was a tutorial on how to strip down WHM / cpanel somehow so it would run better on VPS accounts? or if someone could write one up perhaps?

Getting More Out Of LogWatch On A CPanel/WHM Server
I was searching for something else the other day and came across this (search for LogWatch on the page). It changes the default paths for some of the log files so that they work on a cPanel/WHM server. This will give you more reports in your daily LogWatch email - specifically, it adds exim, apache, courier and PureFTP logs. Most tutorials only show you how to change the detail level or the email address in logwatch.conf. So, I thought I'd share this piece of information. I found that a few changes were necessary for my system. So, I'll give all the steps I followed below: 1) After you have installed LogWatch, change the following in /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/logwatch.conf : Code: Detail = High MailTo = <your email address> You can use Detail = Med if you want to reduce the details you get. 2) Add the following to /etc/logwatch/conf/override.conf (you may have to create the file): Code: logfiles/exim: LogFile = exim_mainlog logfiles/http: LogFile = /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log services/pop3: *OnlyService = cpanelpop services/pop3: *RemoveHeaders = 1 services/pureftpd: LogFile = messages services/pureftpd: $show_logins = 1 services/pureftpd: $show_logouts = 1 services/pureftpd: $show_new_connections = 1 So, if you are not bored reading LogWatch's daily logs and would like to increase your workload, you now know how to How have you configured your LogWatch installation ? Or do you use something other than LogWatch?

Configuring SSL With CPanel/WHM
I have got a WHM Reseller Account, with a Dedicated IP address and RapidSSL Certificate. My host has setup the SSL for me, and it works fine when I access [url](where main-domain.com is the Domain associated with my WHM account). However when I try and access https on any Account which I've made under my Reseller Account, I'm just redirected back to [url] I was under the impression that if I accessed a Domain on an account I made that shares the same IP as my SSL Certificate, that the SSL Certificate would appear for that Domain name too, but this isn't the case. Is there any change the my DNS records, or something I can ask my host to do to get it to work?

IP Addresses, Packages On CPanel WHM
I've been on shared hosting for ages but I needed to add an IP and site5 only allows one per account (even on the 'multi-site' plans). Before that I was with Pair Networks. So, I got the VPS server all setup and I went through and did the initial configuration of the WHM. I have two IPs with my account. My question is about setting up packages and dedicated IPs. When I first set up a package with a dedicated IP, it only lets me choose the second IP on my account. So, I created a package without a dedicated IP for the first site. But now it's on a shared package. So, I take it I can't setup two dedicated IP packages unless I have 3 IPs? Does the cPanel access for the package with the dedicated IP allow for SSL functions? The cpanel access for my first account doesn't have any SSL options - so I guess I need to manage that with the WHM? Anyway, if someone would be so kind as to shed a little light on the topic of IPs and packages with dedicated IPs and SSL management for accounts under both types of packages,

WHM/CPANEL Domain Name Server (DNS)

Now i go into WHM and type my DNS servers into the setup/config page. Having already assigned each dns name an i.p im just waiting for the Assign an A address to this namserver button to show my new i.p address.. At the minute it says my old one. Is this the correct way, i know it can take a while to proporgate, is this the same with it showing the new IP? anyone wants to check: playcontrol.co.uk ns1.playcontrol.co.uk ns2.playcontrol.co.uk

WHM Cpanel Private Nameservers Dedicated IP

I create an account in WHM, click the reseller option while doing so with dedicated IP. So now I have a cpanel/reseller account with DNS Zone: [url]/ Dedicated IP: 444.44.444.44 In WHM I click DNS Zone / Add a DNS Zone Add IP: 555.55.555.55 Add DNS A Zone 1 ns1.[url] Select Reseller Save Add IP: 666.66.666.66 Add DNS A Zone 2 ns2.[url] Select Reseller Save now I have 3 zones & 3 IP [url]- 444.44.444.44 [url]- 555.55.555.55 [url]- 666.66.666.66 The second way I do it is to use the cpanel accounts IP as 1 of the nameservers and end up like this: now I have 3 zones & 2 IP [url] - 444.44.444.44 [url]- 444.44.444.44 [url]- 555.55.555.55

What can I do to fix this as I need to edit this DNS zone urgently.

WHM/Cpanel Block All Non Ssl Logins
We are being required to turn off all non-ssl logins to our server. I have turned on ssl redirection, but that only works when access by domain. if a user types in the direct port number either http://domain.com:2086 or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2086 they can still get access to the non-ssl login page. I need to be able to disable all port access to non-ssl login pages for ports 2086,2082 and 2095. My servers are running CSF+LFD and i have tried removing the ports from the configuration, but i still can gain access.

Permissions For CPanel Accounts Created With WHM
I recently got a dedicated server (CentOS with WHM and cPanel) and I am a newbie when it comes to server admin. I had a hard time with the proper configuration so that Fantastico would work (it took their admin a week to figure out their own installation). In any case now I can use Fantastico to install scripts and the one I use the most is Joomla. There is a major problem though. So I create a new account in WHM (with root access or not), go to domain.com/cpanel, go to Fantastico and install Joomla. Then if I access files or folders through FTP using CoreFTP I can't change permissions (most of files or folders) and I can't edit files. (that's the case even for the accounts with root access). I can perform those actions if I log into WHM with my main root account and change what I need using a module called Configserver Explorer that shows all the files on the server (without that module I would be lost - I don't know all those shell commands) So can anyone help me with some proper configuration tips so that if I create user accounts (other then myself) they would have those permissions to edit or change stuff in their account? I come from shared hosting and never had these problems. They were allowing add-on domains and I could copy entire sites to other domain names with one click. Now WHM says it's not a good idea to allow add-on domains. No idea why. Any advise one that?

Stats Not Updating In CPanel But WHM Says They Were Updated
I can't seem to solve, perhaps you could give me some pointers or tips on how to fix this. All the cPanel stats programs (Awstats etc..) haven't been updated since the 17th June but when I login to WHM it says the stats have been updated (within the past 24 hours). On the 17th June I moved my hosting operations from the USA to the UK onto a new webserver. How can I make sure these statistic programs are updated and shown from cPanel, even though I can tell it to update via SSH (completes) and claims in WHM with no problems (updated with in 24 hours), the new stats still fail to appear.

WHM/CPanel VPS Mailserver (MTA)
I am talking about a WHM/Cpanel setup. Is there a way to convince the Exim mailserver (MTA) to get any of the hosted domain name in the "HELO" greeting when dispatching mail? Many ISPs deny accepting mail when the smtp domain name in the setting of a mail client program does not match the vps main hostname. The only workaround seems to be to change the smtp server name for all domains to be identical to the main server (setup) name. In detail: When you setup more then one domain on your vps and use your own dns/bind, then CPanel installs the domain records in a way that mail exchange is set to e.g. firstdomain.com. 14400 IN MX 10 mail.firstdomain.com. ... mail 14440 IN A 111.111.111.111 which basically instruct your vps that email client programs can connect to the "firstdomain.com" host for pop (imap) as well as smtp using the subdomain name mail.firstdomain.com with the respective ports. Now, Cpanels MTA (mail transfer agent) exim uses only the vps setup domain name as mailserver address and all Outgoing eMails always show the setup domain or one of its subdomains (depending on setup) in the mail header, no matter which of your vps domains sends the mail. This way you most likely run into the situation that a couple of ISPs deny accepting your (or your clients) eMails because your (actually one and only) "mailserver does not have their host name in the greeting". technically, if you telnet (no need to ssh) to mail.firstdomain.com on port 25 the response will be 220-setup.maindomain.com ESMTP Exim 4.52 #1 Sun, 26 Mar 2006 ... 220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited, 220 and/or bulk e-mail. and, in case you send a helo command to this connection, the result is helo 250 setup.maindomain.com Hello [11.22.33.44] That means some mails sent out with mail.firstdomain.com might be rejected as spam. Is there a way to get exim to display 250 mail.firstdomain.com Hello [11.22.33.44] or 250 mail.seconddomain.com Hello [11.22.33.44] etc
